I had a prior health condition that raised concern for surgery so he had me contact my primary doctor to schedule a pre-op to make sure I was good/safe for surgery. This all was a smooth process. Out of interest after reviewing other patient's reviews, I wanted to have Dr. Peters do the impacted teeth removal surgery. Nothing against Dr. Schwarzkopf as his biography seems very impressive. I just saw a really good shout out for Dr. Peters and took interest in her work. During my surgery day, the lady at the front desk was very kind and professional. The nurses were lovely and had a lot of patience. Dr. Peters approach was very professional. Definitely had her game face on and was ready to pull some teeth out. When I was woken up by one of the nurses, she helped me up and walked with me to the exit. Before I got into the car, my groggy but happy self couldn't help but give the super kind nurse a hug. They were a great team and that office only gave good vibes. The after care kit makes me feel spoiled as they provided a very good quality head wrap, vanilla mint lip balm(my favorite) and basic necessities for post impacted teeth removal surgery. They also provided papers with guidance for post surgery care. Loved the experience and would recommend to anyone!

They let you know up front in the confirmation call how much your procedure will be, and will let you know what you need to bring (payment and inhaler for me). Dr. Jirsa overall just took care of me. Nurses were great, professional, and pleasant. I even went out of my dental insurance network to get my wisdom teeth out because they're so great! (And aspen dental sucks, and actually would have charged me more than here) I'm sure you won't get a bad visit here

Dr. Dunbar was the most uncaring, hurtful doctor that I have ever encountered and after many years…read moreof cancer he's competing with a wide field. I came to the office pretty frightened because my oncologist thought I was developing a rare disorder that causes your jawbone to die. Dr. Dunbar made statements about the horrible things that could happen and then would chuckle. He talked about pieces of my jaw sloughing away--chuckle--but repeated several times with laughter, "But I've never known anyone to die from it." I explained to the doctor that because of our finances I couldn't afford to come again. When I asked him if he wanted to renew my antibiotic he smiled and said, "What I'd really like is for you to come back next week and we can just see what happens." He offered no help, no solutions and no concern. Before my appointment I was told that if my Medicare didn't pay for the x-ray it would be written off. When they sent me to the billing office, I saw I was being charged for the x-ray and I asked why after what I had been told. The response was, "Oh, we write off the other kind of x-ray, but we don't write off this x-ray." After waffling back and forth with casual ideas of a, "We could try this," nature with no reason 'why' given, the doctor finally said, "You know, let's do a biopsy. With your history it sure could be mouth cancer." Then I was sent to the financial office to fill out four copies of papers saying I understood my insurance and Medicare probably wouldn't pay. That's when I saw the charge for a biopsy. I was so upset by then, and it was the first action offered, so I was going to do it. However, when I saw the charge, I thought better of it. I had, at that point, no confidence in Dr. Dunbar. I was very confident that he didn't care about me at all. I thought I should talk to my oncologist first. My oncologist said it didn't look at all like mouth cancer and that it would have been very dangerous to do a biopsy. The staff at the office was nice. Maybe Dr. Dunbar thinks laughing at the end of every sentence is reassuring, but it is not--especially when you're telling the patient all about the various ways their jaw may rot away. Dr. Dunbar's cavalier attitude made me feel totally hopeless and it was terrible to end up with a $250 bill for twenty minutes of being laughed at and an x-ray. I have spent weeks trying to decide whether to give this review but I wouldn't want anyone else to have the experience I had. Dr. Dunbar may be great at pulling wisdom teeth, but he was not great with a long term cancer patient with a scary and serious problem.

It was a herculean task to get him to communicate with the other professionals he referred me to. He delayed my treatment and wouldn't even say hello, whenever he had to interact with me (which were rare occasions). I assumed that he didn't realize the difficulty of the case, and knew he was probably not capable of doing the job. He could have just said so, instead of treating me in such an unethical, inhumane and humiliating fashion at the most vulnerable time in my life. His assistant probably noticed and attempted to make up for his rude and unprofessional behavior, and that was very appreciated (she is a sweetheart.) His hygienists are amazing and I am so thankful for them. Do us all a favor and retire, Dr. Margeas! You ARE NOT God's gift to dentistry, as you think you are. I went to God's gift to dentistry, and he is humble, kind, ethical, humane and probably one of the most competent REAL cosmetic dentists in the US ( Dr. Sam Sadati.) The only thing I am thankful for, is the referral you made to Dr. Neil Dunbar (an outstanding surgeon and human).

As a retired Army veteran with federal benefits, I have dealt with insurance systems for decades…read more Never--during active duty or in retirement--have I been placed in a position where I was responsible for nearly 80% of a medical bill due to a provider's failure to properly manage pre-authorization. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened with this Oral Surgeon's office. Let me be clear: the quality of the surgical procedure itself was excellent. The clinical care deserves recognition. The issue is not the surgeon's skill, nor even the total price charged--despite the fact that their pricing is roughly 200% above insurance norms based on MetLife's nationwide averages. The issue is how their insurance claim representative handled our case, and the complete lack of accountability from the Office Manager, Justine. Prior to the procedure, we were told our responsibility would be the $1,500 down payment, with a possible additional 10% due to being out-of-network. My wife even called to confirm this information to ensure we understood our financial obligation. At no point were we informed that we could be responsible for 80% of the total bill. We fully understand that estimates are estimates--but there is a significant difference between minor variance and a massive financial discrepancy caused by administrative negligence. The core problem: proper prior authorization was never fully obtained from MetLife. It appears the office simply confirmed that we had insurance coverage rather than securing detailed authorization and benefit breakdowns. Had this been handled correctly, one of two things would have happened: We would have been clearly informed of the true out-of-pocket cost and could have planned accordingly or delayed treatment until the following year to leverage our HSA benefits; or MetLife may have authorized a greater portion based on their average nationwide reimbursement standards (they pay 60% of their determined allowable amount). Instead, we were blindsided after the procedure was completed. When I contacted the office for assistance, there was no ownership of the mistake. No meaningful advocacy on our behalf. No attempt to escalate with the carrier. The only solution offered was a payment plan--along with subtle implications that we should have ensured pre-authorization was completed before choosing their practice. That response is unacceptable. Patients rely on medical offices to handle insurance verification and authorization correctly. That is part of the administrative service they provide. What is most disappointing is the complete absence of empathy or accountability. The apology felt rehearsed and routine, not reflective of any genuine concern for the financial hardship created by their internal oversight. Again, the surgical care was good. Had we been properly informed upfront that we would owe the full balance--or even 30% more than what we had already paid--we would have made an informed decision without complaint. Paying for quality care is not the issue. Transparency, due diligence, and patient advocacy are. This experience reflects a serious breakdown in administrative responsibility. Patients deserve better financial transparency and far greater accountability from a medical office entrusted with both their health and their financial well-being.
