I was at Slim Dental for my biannual checkup and cleaning recently. They have their sanitary procedure all set and I felt safe to be treated, and I was thankful that they are open. My front tooth has been chipped for a few years and this time we decided to fix it. I put it off since I was worried about the price, but it only costed $35 with insurance and only took about fifteen minutes to fix it. The chip was barely visible to other people and I didn't really care about fixing it, but it actually made me really happy for the day. Some treatments I've gotten here came with a hefty price tag, but they never go wrong and I have no issue with any of them, so the dentists here know what they are doing. read more

I've also seen other dentists in his practice for some procedures, including Dr. Wu for Invisalign treatment. My experiences with Slim Dental have hands-down been the best of all dentists I've ever seen! Dr. Lim takes great pride in his work and practice. ** PREDATORY BILLING PRACTICES** My Wife and I went to Slim Dental in 2021. We originally were told that they accepted our insurance and that the visits would be covered. My wife had a cleaning and X-rays and Scheduled follow up appointments to fill some cavities. She made an appointment for me to have a tooth extracted and a bone graft. She was upset when after the first appointment the office informed her that they no longer accepted our insurance. They told her that they notified all of their patients over month ago of the coming change, but we had only been patients for around 2 weeks and where not informed at the time of the initial Booking or visit even though we provided our insurance information at the time, it seemed kind of shady at the time, but my wife didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a new dentist and new x-rays and take more time off work so she figured that we would just pay out of pocket this time. WRONG CHOICE. I wish we never got involved with Slim Dental. **This is not a complaint about the Dentil Work as it was fine although very expensive comparatively. We Had all of the work done which involved 2 appointments for me and 3 for my wife if I remember correctly including 2 cleanings. We believed we had paid our balances as they didn't take our insurance and we asked to pay our balances in full at every visit. Fast forward to this year. OVER 12 MONTHS since we had our final appointments, and we received a notice from a collection agency claiming we owe Slim Dental for nonpayment. Never did they try to call or send a bill to use as our phone numbers / email addresses have not changed and we are at the same address. They will not respond to inquiries about providing billing information and will not return our emails. The Debt collectors have provided partial info with dates but not any kind of actual missed billing information. They really only provided a glorified word document dated over a year after our appointments saying we owed them some arbitrary amount of money. It also seems from digging into reviews that I'm not the only person that has had this problem. This is also my only yelp review as I don't usually like complaining about businesses and just will not return as in the case of the original story about slim dental over a year ago since we never returned after the initial work. I just wanted to make sure everyone knows about the predatory practices at this office. read more

I never write reviews, but wow does Slim Dental deserve one! Let's start with Randy (sorry if I'm misspelling your name). She is literally the super hero of receptionists. I was dealing with a major toothache and Randy was able to get me into the office asap. I even showed up 6 hours before my appointment because I couldn't take the pain anymore, and Randy worked her magic! Dr. Dimitri was also incredible. He was extremely descriptive throughout the process and was able to do a quick procedure that rid me of my pain. This guy is the Lebron James of dentists! From here I was referred to a specialist for further evaluation, and our superhero Randy, once again came to the rescue, helping me find an in-network specialist that could see me right away when others were booked a few weeks out. I couldn't ask for a more leaned in kind of staff. This is gold standard treatment from start to finish. Sincerely, Your patient forever! read more

I hate this place and I'm just about done with it. I would have found a new dentist sooner, but my family all go here and haven't been dicked around as much as I have. Any time an appointment nears, I get a phone call telling me that it's been rescheduled for some inconvenient time. This often happens multiple times for the same appointment and the staff, far from being understanding, can be quite rude about it. What is especially frustrating is that they like to ask me if it's okay to reschedule and then don't accept 'no' for an answer. I don't like being asked if the answer doesn't matter. Any time I have to reschedule because of the bad timing, they seem to allot some random time a month or two down the line. Getting into the building is now embarrassingly difficult. The security system won't read my IDs and the building staff seem to act like that is my fault, even though they acknowledged that it may be due to someone misspelling or shortening my name when it was first entered into the system. I went in there for a routine filling from Dr. Park once, maybe four years ago, and I've been getting pain ever since. No dentist there has been able to fix it since. I felt fine before, now it hurts to chew on one side of my mouth. Lim himself even took a look at that tooth and after he was done with it, he literally ran away. I have never seen a dentist run before and I have no idea where he would have been going, but I haven't seen him since. All he seemed to do was score crisscrossing lines into the tooth so that it feels as though it could be unscrewed with a Philip's head screwdriver. This place has won 'superior service' awards, but superior to what, I wonder? I've been going here for years and I'd really like them to throw some of that superior service my way. read more

I have been coming to Slim Dental for a few years now and I can tell you they are a wonderful facility. I recently had gum flap surgery with Dr. Wayne Kye and despite me being extremely nervous, the procedure went very, very well. Dr. Kye was very patient with me and explained the whole procedure so I would know exactly what was going to happen. He made me feel right at ease. I have 3 more gum surgeries to do and now that I know the procedure, etc, I will be more at ease. My regular Dentist is Dr. Emily Park and she too, is wonderful. The whole staff, from the ladies at the front desk to the Hygienists to the Dentists themselves, are competent, friendly and very helpful. Moved to NYC after college for a job. Got into freak accident and knocked out 3 of my front teeth (#6,#7,#8). 24 y/o Dr. Wayne Kye and Dr. Brian Eng worked together to help save my face. It was difficult since it was 3 teeth in a row. AND, I was in the final stages of Invisalign treatment. They worked with my orthodontist in Maryland and synchronized with him on my treatment. And even when my insurance didn't cover, they were nice enough to honor the insurance price and gave me numerous discounts knowing my situation. If I didn't have insurance I would not be able to come here - but I'm lucky so I do. Dr Park did a crown for me and I LOVE HER. I was crazy nervous, especially because I'd never met her and I have had all kinds of bad experiences with other dentists and orthodontists and oral surgeons. She took her time explaining everything to me - even did a drawing for me so I'd understand. She let me listen to music to take my mind off the drilling. Best of all, I mentioned another filling I would have to get, and she just took care of it on the spot so I wouldn't have to return yet again. She was so gentle and I really appreciate how kind she was about my nerves. Yes, they have tvs in every room but I have yet to see anything but the screen saver on there. It has never been so easy for me to give a medical office five stars. Dr. Lim is smart, mild mannered, and patient. And his hygienists and office staff are so impressively professional. Most importantly, Dr. LIm has proven to me that he puts patients needs and comfort first. I met him for a second opinion many years ago when another dentist was recommending a root canal, but he was able to analyze the situation and fix the problem in a far less invasive way. Also, most recently I was away from New York and had a medical dental emergency, so i needed to see another dentist. When I called him to tell him I had extensive discomfort after that visit, he quickly squeezed me into his schedule and fixed the problem even though the other dentist told me it was all in my head. I am so grateful to him and his staff that I have recommended many friends to him. They tell me he is also the e best dentist they have ever had. DO NOT USE THIS DENTAL PRACTICE!!!! I went to this practice in 2011 and was billed in 2019. I insisted that I settled the bill with them in 2012 and even have an email record records of speaking to one of their billing reps back in June 2012 (who told me that she would take care of the matter). Now, 8 years later, they're saying that I never paid my bill and insist that I work with them to resolve this issue. I called my old insurance company today and they don't even have the claim on file since so many years have passed! There are so many great dental providers in NYC. Why would you use one that will overcharge you, or even forget to bill you, and then try to collect from you 8 years later? read more

I have been coming here since 2012 and the meticulousness and quality is just top notch. I've seen everyone here: Dr. Lim, Dr. Park, Dr. Eng, and Dr. Wu! Both are perfectionists and I've been so pleased with their work (they'll do it over and over again until you're happy). My teeth have never been healthier in my life! While I do love the work I've had done and think Dr. Lim is a great dentist, I think their policies are a bit strict and ridiculous. I find it a bit much to require 48hr notice to reschedule or cancel an appointment. When I said I had something unexpected come up for my job, I was told that is not part of the 'special' circumstances. Be aware that this fee is $100 which is crazy, because you know they will fill it with someone waiting for an earlier appointment. My advice is: you do great work but you need to work on the customer service a bit especially for those who are spending a pretty penny for your services. read more

I've been going here for over 2 yrs now and I think I've hesitated to write a review on it because it's the kind of secret you want to keep quiet, but I gotta give 'em their due cred. The people are nice, appointments are always on time, they send you reminders and confirmations, always send you home with a goodie bag, and the offices are clean and modern. While I've had varying luck with some of the dental hygienists being more painful than others, all in all it's been a great experience given the cesspool of New York dental and medical care. They are very well equipped. They x-ray machine is like from 22 century. They gave me some goodies when I came for cleaning. I saw Dr Gamache and he was very good. Very considerate. He shows you what he does before he does it. They took photos of inside of the teeth and showed me why they want to fix it. You can actually see and justify the cost. Oh and about costs - I was already on the chair, they told me what they are planning to do and asked if receptionist explained me the cost. I said yes, and they confirmed how much they will be. It turned out I confused something and they waited until receptionist came with a print out and explained me the confusion. Some teeth were cheaper than others but Dr Gamache said we need to go with more expensive one as they are more at risk. I already knew why because they showed me the photos. Changed my review after Dr Gamache left the practice. I had an appointment with Dr Lim. Had the cleaning, then he came and inspected the health of my teeth. Then while I was still in the seat, his phone rang. He answered it and disappeared! He never came back! When I was leaving he was consulting another patient. I actually used yelp to find a dentist, since I only received horror stories on my journey to finding a new dentist. I have to say, I am very pleased with the office as well as the work done. They were able to squeeze me in before the year end, which worked out well for me. The office is clean, modern and I also appreciated that at the security desk your name is already there. So there is not any issues getting in. I did not wait long to have any of my procedures done, which consisted of porcelain filling, and cleaning. The staff was professional and accommodating. Best dentist I've ever been too. Utilizes newest technologies, friendly staff, highly capable, and also does "the small things" that makes it more enjoyable (i.e. t.v.'s hanging above the cleaning stations to watch movies / t.v. during the cleaning). I just had my wisdom teeth extracted (after ~20 years of kicking the can down the road). Procedure couldn't have been easier. Local anesthetic, optional laughing gas (I opted out), and the whole procedure (for two teeth) lasted ~30 minutes soup-to-nuts. He expanded from his first location to include 1 Rockefeller maybe two years ago - and both facilities are up to the same high quality. read more

Dr. Lim is BY FAR the best dentist I've ever been to and I would never go anywhere else again. I am writing this review just 4 hours after having all four of my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Lim and Krystle, which should speak for itself about the quality of their care and work. Dr. Lim is patient, professional but very approachable, gentle, highly skilled and knowledgeable, and never forces any extra procedures. He and his staff really care about your teeth and overall health (including mental health!), and take the time to explain everything and make sure you're comfortable. Dr. Lim's bedside manner is great. He is incredibly technically skilled, like a dental wizard. Everything always goes smoothly. Dr. Lim is also fun and quirky and very chill, and was calming me down prior to today's procedure by attempting to juggle fake teeth. Krystal basically was my cheerleader the whole time, letting me squeeze her hand as she worked, and stayed with me afterwards as I recovered. I have MAJOR dental phobia and have been avoiding having my wisdom teeth removed for nearly 10 years. After avoiding it as long as I could, ultimately I only trusted Dr. Lim with these extractions. And he did an awesome job. His hygienist Naseem is also tremendous as well their front desk staff--who even came in to check on me after the procedure because they knew how freaked out I was. I VERY enthusiastically recommend Dr. Lim to anyone and everyone--but especially those with anxiety about going to the dentist. I have been going to doctor Lim for over a year and I love his offices. I just changed jobs and I was happy to find out that he has another office at Rockefeller center. The office is beautiful. The staff is very friendly. This office has amazing views (22nd floor), state of the art equipment, apple TV for you while you wait (but you never wait long enough to get past the opening credits. Both visits I had Dr. Soojin Kim. She was fantastic. Very thorough, fast and efficient. She made sure I was comfortable, she quickly worked on my teeth, but made sure everything was good. Also, the office works great with my insurance and they always verify/ checks with me before any major procedure. I would highly recommend either of their offices. They are very good about booking appointments and work well with your schedule. I also like that they monitor you if they feel you may have a potential problem with one of your teeth (rather than force you to do a procedure). read more

Five star superlative service! Dr.Stephen Lim has a sweet and complaisant temperament which makes it feel like euphoria on Earth. He exquisitely extends to humankind his Promethean gift that of his energy in water,air and light waterlase (laser) dentistry. On 2015 I did not have an established dentist -therefore, I searched online for laser technology dentistry (HydroPhotonics) which is said to have more accuracy and could save greater sections of teeth. I came across Dr.Lim's website and he appeared to be a gracious individual. 1 Rockefeller Plaza building (decorated with Art Deco artwork) advantageously overlooks the ice skating rink, the Rock Center Garden Cafe,on holidays the splendid illuminated tree, an area with plenteous of attractions! At the resplendent lobby visitors are received by the security service. The offices are welcoming. Dr.Lim's staff of assistants,event planners,secretaries,dentists,etc are laborious. At the dental consultation Dr.Lim was jolly and familial. He gingerly examined my teeth with a dental mirror and pick and concisely explored it. A while later, he inserted the intra-oral camera in differing angles which vividly captured sections of my gums,teeth,etc. He stored them in the computer and described each snapshot what was to remedy. He rescued a tooth that another dentist told me necessitated a root canal, Dr.Lim tested the tooth and found that it was responsive and merely required dental filling bonding. He plausibly prepared my treatment plan without due dates. In some cases, continual plaque can harden into cavity and depending on a person's situation or dentist suggestion, it can be best to prevent recurring cavities by using dental fillings, cosmetic bonding and so forth. The first day that Dr.Lim worked on me, I selected for a large uncovered molar I was born with to be closed with dental filling. I mostly opt for no anesthesia but, it varies on the person's capacity for pain tolerance or other conditions. My molar had to be totally cleansed and when he terminated I asked for the mirror and was astonished of the natural sculpture -the aperture was filled with filling -however, it was hardly noticeable which one was human-made. He even listened to my concern in private and approved to correct it fairly. I am not discontent with the job he has performed on me. Dr.Lim allayed me with words "Don't worry,let me worry about it!" with respect to reaching a far away molar that needed a spot of filling. He does not hasten out of the room instead, he stays to verify all is medically stable. In another occasion, dentist members of his team (a man and a woman) wanted to observe the teeth bonding procedure which Dr.Lim civilly asked for my permission and I agreed. Both were likeable. The panoramic x-ray and bitewings are new technology. Dr.Lim interpreted the x-ray and that same day he referred me to Dr.Andrew Kim for a wisdom tooth extraction. On a Summer morning I visited the Murray office location (since it corresponded with my calendar schedule) which was serene and cozy. The office staff were humane. Dr.Lim convinced me to use for the first time anesthesia (under his care) since the drill would go deeper in between the teeth for bonding (In this location a drill is utilized). Dr.Lim injected me painlessly, the injection entered gradually with the woman voice operated machine indicating progress and it ejected mildly. For about an hour Dr.Lim drilled and I could see so much aspiration and zest he puts into his work. Every time he finishes -I am content that visually, it is like nature-made it. Dental fillings could take several days or weeks for one to get adapted to them; I needed to sign a release form for the x-rays to be sent via e-mail. Doctor policies vary and that is why it is better to ask beforehand if something is not clear. Dr.Stephen Lim is empathic, he speedily,limpidly cleans up with steam and gauze any blood that is flowing. A dental filling fell off (from a previous dentist) and for a week or so I placed cherry "Refilit" material for I to be able to eat without infecting the hole. I additionally water-rinsed and used a toothpick to clean the hole. Then, when I went to Dr.Lim he asked me how I felt and we spoke. This time, he placed himself on a retroceded position in order to paste the tooth in the way it grew upwards -ingenious! The filling was rightly placed giving to it an impeccable view. On my most recent visit, he stated that the dental plan could be paused for the reason being that the yearly periodic oral exam is more important. I recommend Dr.Stephen Lim for his superb work and affable personality. He makes the dental experience a party for the re-birth (metamorphosis) of new looking teeth!
