Robert is the absolute BEST!!! My son was so scared and timid for so long. I'm talking screaming bloody murder while getting his hair cut every time. He became such a stressful experience for both of us. Robert took his time to build trust. He was incredibly patient and kind with my son, determined to win him over. Of course, he did!! Being a barber is so much more than a job to Robert. He is passionate about his clients, especially little ones that may be nervous or scared. Google and yelp said this place was open. But when I walked up to the door yesterday at 2pm it was locked. I looked through the door and it was empty. Slick's has the best barbers in the area. This is the only place my kids will come to get a haircut. But I'm giving 3 stars because their appointment system needs some improvement. I made an appointment for my son at 5:30, and had to wait over an hour to be seen. It wasn't because there was a lot of people. It was obvious that they didn't plan for our appointment because only one barber was available. The barber that was working was really nice and apologized for the delay. But it wasn't his fault, obviously the management of appointments is what needs to improve. read more

Do not go here. Went here once and got messed up. Tried again months later for an emergency haircut for a work event and now have terrible hair. I had two different barbers at each time and both of them didn't care what I had to say about my hair and didn't do the one thing I asked of them both times. Barbers are in their own world in the shop seemingly uninterested in the quality of haircut they are giving. If I had a choice of going back here or cutting my hair with a toenail blindfolded I would choose blindfolded at all costs. read more

I'm not one who's into social media or writing reviews, but I felt compelled to write about Slick's BarbershopI am very thankful & humbled to have met such a great guy. He's a special soul who gives more than he gets. Real salt of the earth type of dude. Let's get into it.. The shop is clean, well lit, with comfy chairs and decorated with art. It has this chill hip hop vibe to it. They even have a studio where they teach future barbers & stylist As a guy who get his haircut every 7-10 days, Im very hesitant with different barbers‍My go to was on vaycay and I had a presentation with executives. A friend highly recommended Slick's, so I decided to give him a shot. Slick took his time, listened & asked questions. I've been going to the same barber since I started freshman year of high school. I was about 13/14 then. Over the years she's gotten to know what I like and what I don't. I've never since then been to a different shop. However after moving out to Camarillo for UNI, going home, 2 hour drive, to get a haircut is not an option. So like most people I picked up my phone and typed in barber shop, I was taken to Super Cuts. However, they were fully booked for the day, and thank god for it. Cause if they had an available slot I would've never went to Slick's. Let me start off by saying, I've never had this much fun getting a cut. Morris aka Loony was very attentive, talkative, and engaged me in all the aspects of what I wanted my final product to look like. The atmosphere was lively, music playing, art on all four walls, and everyone always wearing a smile. Now that's all nice and all, but let's talk about the cut. Details spared, I walked in looking like a walking gorilla, long hair, messy beard, an overall mess. I am not someone that's really aware of the terms when comes to hair, or what would really look good with my head shape, but with their help and recommendations I walked out of there feeling amazing. My hair was better than imagined, the lineups (neck, hairline, beard) were cleaner than Mr. Clean himself. Overall highly recommend, as long as I'm out here in the Camarillo/Ventura area, I'm coming here for my cuts and you should as well. read more

I have cowlicks in the back of my head, and no other barbershops knew how to deal with them. Thankfully, was not the case with Slick's. Dennis served me there today and he was really insightful about my hair. Normally, whenever I get my haircut, the barber cuts my hair too short in the back and causes my cowlicks to make my hair stick up. But this wasn't a problem for this barber, he told me that I should keep it longer in the back to prevent this. Adding on to that, when other barbers cut my hair, my hair ends up looking too straight on the top like a bowl cut. Once again, no problem for Slick's, Dennis told me that I should ask to thin out and texturize the top in order to prevent this but to not do the back (because once again, my cowlicks). While I will admit that my hair is a bit shorter than I would've liked it (but that was kind of my fault because I said it was okay shorter), I felt better at this barbershop than any other, as Dennis talked to me the entire way through. I'm not a very conversational person, so I find it hard to talk when getting my hair cut, but unlike other barbers who would neglect me and talk to someone else, Dennis actually talked to me and made me feel welcome. After searching for a barbershop that fit me I found myself in this barbershop that somewhat looked like an art gallery! The walls are hand painted with many different designs and famous influencers. This place has an ambiance that you'd want to hangout in. It is perfect for getting that monthly cut you want and you don't feel awkward while doing so. I went there for a haircut and they seemingly did a fine job except that the lady cutting my hair messed up somehow and scratched my neck really badly with the clippers and ended up giving me cuts in the back of my neck which were very uncomfortable and at times painful I've never had this happen before so I can only assume that it was due to negligence. read more

If you've been on the hunt looking for a good barber in the area like I had been (for months), look no further. I walked in without an appointment and waited maybe 10 minutes before being seated. The shop had a nice relaxed feel, good music, and an overall excellent vibe. I had my haircut done by Ragsdale, who was friendly, professional, and incredibly detail oriented with my hair, spending over an hour making sure to get it right. I've struggled to find a solid barber that can cut the hairstyle I ask for, but I was fixed up in a BIG way on the first haircut here. The super clean skin fade and precise scissor cut/blending/texturing on top has got me looking and feeling like a MEAN mofo. For a barber to cut hair like that upon a first meeting is incredibly rare and I'm excited for future cuts when he gets to know my hair even better. On the pricier side for a haircut (~$45 for a skin fade and scissor cut), but well worth the price if you're looking for a quality haircut. Happy I took a chance on this place and will be back for another haircut!! read more
