And a special shoutout to my DY (wink) girl Natalie, who worked the pool area and made sure the drinks were flowing! I mean, even the hang tag for your room door feels like quality! That pretty much sums up the attention to detail throughout this hotel. I just recently stayed at The Swiftwater for a one-night getaway to the Poconos. What appears as an…read moreupscale spot for a staycation unfortunately left much to be desired. The exterior of the building has a lodge aesthetic and inside is adorned with modern finishes. Our room was a standard king sized room on the 2nd floor. The room was clean and it was very spacious however when we first entered our room there were no bath towels or bath robes. Later I noticed that we also did not have tissues or a room service menu. When I called housekeeping to request towels and robes the staff was exceptionally quick to respond and did so happily. The service at the Swiftwater is great when requested; however, it does not appear to be the default. After checking in we made sure to enjoy the Swiftwater's prime amenity, the heated pool. From 5-10 pm the pool is adults only which made the experience relaxing. We opted to get drinks from the Olivet bar before lounging in the pool and I am sad to report that the drinks were not great. For $43 I received the smallest and poorly rationed Aperol Spritz and my boyfriend sipped on a double Captain & Diet. At around 6:00 pm we moved from the pool to the outdoor fire pit and enjoyed the serenity and heat before heading back to our room to shower and get ready for dinner. We walked over to Desaki Hibachi and had an incredible dinner. The vibe was very casual given that it is a hibachi restaurant but the meat was fresh & tender and my gluten allergy was taken seriously by all members of the staff. The next day we enjoyed a round of golf at Buck Hill Falls Golf Club. When I booked this experience on the website I was told that a complimentary shuttle was available to transport us to the course and back however at check-in I was told this is no longer offered. That was a disappointment as the course is 17 minutes from the hotel and thus added 17 minutes to our 2+ hour route home after the day on the course. Buck Hill was a breathtaking course with tremendous hospitality. Overall the heated pool, walkable distance to Desaki & accessibility to Buck Hills were the highlight of our stay at the Swiftwater.

The camp is well run, well staffed and well maintained with lots of great activities for kids 7 - 16 to choose from. Back then they even had water skiing on the small lake (Lake Joshua) and took a few field trips each summer. Camp Harlam is a special place for reform Jewish kids to make memories.
