Our new mattress was delivered, but the crew refused to take our old mattress and foundation, contrary to what Tarik had told us would happen when we purchased the new set. The installation crew leader was rude, unprofessionally dressed in pajama pants and driving a rental truck, and told us that they could not put the old mattress with into their truck because it had slight staining. He indicated that they were a subcontractor to the store and not employees. You had to look very hard to find a small sweat stain on the mattress, which was their excuse. To make things worse, he then said that they couldn't dispose of the foundation because they only take complete sets of mattresses and foundations. He said that they donate the used mattress to churches, but nothing of this nature was mentioned when we purchased the mattress. Our 12 year old mattress was quite worn out and I can't imaging anyone wanting it - it is ready for the landfill. Basically, we feel that we were lied to by Tarik. Should anything happen that requires a warranty, I no longer trust this store, as my gut feel is they would shirk their responsibility or tell us more lies. We were shopping for two mattresses, but I can tell you that the second certainly won't be purchased from this store.

I went to a few different mattress stores and even looked online. While the world of mattresses have come a long way since I last bought one, it wasn't as overwhelming as I thought it would be. I wanted to be able to try the mattress out first before purchasing, and I'm not about to order just any old thing off the internet. After hitting up about 5 different mattress places, I decided Gardner White was the place to be. The staff and selection was great and since Art Van's been gone, I thought they were the next best thing. Walking in there was a plethora of sales people available. (I was here about 3 times total over the span of my purchase for a variety of reasons.) I got all my questions answered and informed of what some of the differences were between mattresses, coil systems, fabric and warranties. While it cost me a small fortune for a mattress, I finally purchased it on Sunday, December 22nd. To get free delivery, you have to spend $800, which is fine because the mattress was far more than that, along with the box spring. I heard that it might cost extra to have it delivered on the weekends, but don't quote me on that. Anyway, they delivered my mattress the next day at 7:30 in the morning. They were quick and nice delivery people, but about an hour later when I went to put sheets on the bed, my mom noticed it said "medium" and not firm on the mattress. Looks like someone pulled the wrong mattress at the warehouse! Had she not noticed, I would've not figured it out. The problem with this? It's a $400 price difference between the two! and not to my advantage! The firm Stern's and Foster was way more expensive and I got the firm so my back and hip won't kill me so much. We called the store to inform them and they said we could either get a credit of $400 or have it swapped out for free. I wanted it swapped out because the medium doesn't cut it for me. They did the paperwork and had it switched out the same day. Granted we were last on the delivery route, and it was done very late, I'm just glad we got it done. I will say I did have a wonderful experience and am glad I got my mattress from them. As a side note, I did browse their furniture selection and it wasn't all that nice considering what they charge. Overall a great experience.
