I was desperately tired after a long day on the road during a cross-country trek from Nevada back to New York, and the Motel 6 in the area was run by a deeply awful human whose demeanor was so unpleasant that I cancelled the reservation and walked away. We then checked out a Super 8 across the street that was listed as pet-friendly but was so scary and poorly lit from the outside that it gave Bates Motel vibes. Cue Sleep Inn Colby, whose upcharge for our two dogs was a reasonable $20. There's abundant parking in a well-lit lot, the lobby is nice, the clerk was pleasant (and gave us a first-floor room at the end of a long, quiet hall), the wifi worked, the bed was blessedly comfortable, the room was clean, the luggage carts worked, the breakfast was solid, and I got a long and restful night's sleep prior to another 700+ miles of driving the following day. Chain hotels are usually poorly reviewed on Yelp, often for things beyond the hotel's control, because people have different travelling styles, schedules, and habits, and the other guests often end up annoying you. So maybe I'm grading up a little here, but I can say that I would certainly stay here again. read more

This was not the first time we've stayed at thus Sleep Inn and Suites and certainly won't be the last. The hotel is right off of I-70; it's clean and well-maintained; conveneient to a number of restaurants and reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and helpful; the beds are comfortbable and we got an excellent night's sleep. And the complimentary HOT breakfast was very good. read more

Still like my memories of the place, but during a recent trip, heading to Colorado after my mom had passed, (the evening of November 2, 2022) the desk person was possibly the rudest one I have ever experienced. First of all, I had to find all kinds of ID...the confirmation email on my phone wasn't adequate. And then I was charged much more than the email confirmed. I told her I'd been stopping by every time I came through for the past 10 years, but I'd probably would go elsewhere after experiencing her brand of customer service, and she made sure to remind me that they'd only been open for 6. I forgot that I used to do the whole trip from eastern Nebraska in one day. But thanks for making a grieving person feel so welcome! I'll do the Holiday Inn Express next time. read more

Didn't feel like this was worth the rate they charge. I did have a place to sleep but heard all the doors in hall super early in the morning, cleaning crew knocked for 3 straight minutes on the door in the morning in spite if the do not disturb hanger on the door, open used soap that was back in the wrapper left at the bathroom sink, and dirt spits in bathroom wall and front of cabinet. Would be more acceptable if they werent charging this much but definitely wont be staying here again. read more

We haven't stayed in a Sleep Inn for quite some time. After reading the positive reviews, we decided to give this one a try. The young lady at the front desk was friendly enough and efficient. There is no water available and cookies are not offered (come on, a simple treat). And the waivers that needed to be signed - one for pets, one for smoking, and one for a charge to use the safe. Um, what? This isn't the Ritz Carlton. The hallways are dark and need something to brighten them up. We chose to walk the stairs rather than use the elevator. The stairwell was nice and wide and carpeted and full of dried mud! Which was not removed before we left the next day. The room itself appeared clean. However, of the two queen(?) size beds one had an unusual stain on the sheet and the other one had a few strands of hair and some undetermined crumbs. Were these sheets actually changed? Please tell me yes. The shower needed replacement or cleaning as it was full of minerals and wild sprays. The refrigerator was turned off to save energy so took awhile to cool down. The heat/cooling fan was fairly quiet but it kept cutting on and off every 5 minutes or so which became annoying. The walls are thin so you can clearly hear your neighbors talking and bumping around (seriously felt the wall move behind the bed). We must have been in the wrong room because even with earplugs there was continuous road noise from I-70. On the positive side, the WII FI worked pretty decent. The free breakfast has the bare minimum but to be fair the scrambled eggs were very good as was the coffee. After breakfast, I went to use the ladies bathroom on the main floor but there was no toilet paper. I mentioned this to the two staff members standing at the front desk. One said "thank you I'll get to it sometime today". Sometime today. That's all I have to say. read more

Booked through Expedia. I had my initial charge for a one night stay through Expedia that went through and posted on my card. This hotel then charged me again another room rate for the same night. We got charged twice and I have called them to fix this. They don't care, the front desk was rude and unprofessional. We were given a total - which apparently didn't include tax - so it was a surprise when the total was $30 more than we were quoted. There was no apology. We were quoted a price of $140. The total after tax was $170 When we arrived, there was a note on the check in desk to call a number In order to check in. The accessible room I booked while traveling with my parents was clean and very comfortable and furnished with all the amenities expected of a hotel room, including a roll in shower. It's convenient to access from the highway and a Walmart and a Jimmy John's are conveniently next door if you've forgotten any essentials or need a quick dinner. Well it is almost 40 dollars cheaper than the holiday inn next door so I already love it. Even though I am a preferred holiday inn member and there are only five cars in the parking lot the cost there was 130 per night amd at Sleep Inn it is 90 (senior discount....the senior discount at the holiday inn was exactly .01). Anyway, the room is clean. Comparable size and comfort to a Hampton Inn. Friendly and helpful staff.... so we had a great nights sleep (yes the pillows are smaller than normal but that did not impact our sleep), the breakfast was standard free hotel breakfast but with eggs too, and the checkout was easy. I would never again choose holiday inn over sleep inn if given the choice. read more

It was a good stay! The room was clean, the bathroom was cleaner (THANK YOU!) and I loved that the windows could open to let fresh air in. At one point I stepped into the elevator, didn't realize the floors were wet from being mopped, slipped and figured it out quickly. Whoa! That was an eye opener. In the evening, I went and came back from dinner. There was a young man at the desk who had his head down, headphones in and never even looked up. Both times. Ok.. The next morning, I packed my suitcase, left my key in the room and loaded my suitcase in my car. After that, I was going to eat breakfast. I went to go back in and the front door didn't open, I tapped on the glass and the lady opened it for me. I understand the safety reasons behind that, but I didn't know about before hand. My bad. "I left my key in my room to check out", I explained to the lady. "A lot of good it does there!" She says. I never figured out if she was being friendly or not. Hmm. Surely so. I got breakfast and there was already a gentleman there chatting with the breakfast lady. She was setting things out and she said to him, "Yeah, everything comes in bags but we don't bring those out or everyone would know our secret- all we have back there is a microwave!" OK, I knew they didn't 'make' the food on site, but it was interesting to hear a worker say that. I looked down at my scrambled eggs. Hmm. The hotel was clean, when people spoke to me they were friendly. My room was good, my bed was good. The walls were thin and I could hear the conversation in the next room. After an extremely long day, the Sleep Inn & Suites in Colby Kansas was a site for literally sore eyes. The front desk receptionist was extremely kind, especially considering it was 3am by the time we got there (for the record, he said he was there till 8am, perfect for night drives). The room was very clean, quiet, and well appointed. The beds and sheets felt comfortable, newer, and most definitely clean. The heater worked GREAT, which was a life saver in the middle of a freezing cold winter night. The bathroom was clean, and had all the amenities needed for a relaxing and a "like home" experience. My personal favorite being the sandalwood lotion. It smelled so nice! In the morning, they had a delicious continental style breakfast, coffee, and of course a painless check out. I am kind of baffled by how jazzed people are about this hotel. It was $119 + tax for two queen beds, which was more expensive than the original hotel I planned to stay in in Hays, KS. However, we were making good progress on the road trip and decided to re-book. There was a shortage of parking and no swimming pool/hot tub, which would have been nice after driving for 9 hours. The room was very comfortable and did come with a microwave and refrigerator. The beds were nice and had nice comforters, but they insist on using the half sized pillows here. While people are raving about the breakfast, it was fairly standard choice hotels fare. There is also some fast food options one can walk to nearby for dinner, which is very convenient if you have been driving all day. The really weird thing is that the booking website states that some rooms only come with a bath tub. So in theory, you could get stuck without a shower. Luckily, we ended up with a shower but otherwise gross. If you are driving across Kansas, this is a perfectly fine hotel for a night, although fairly over-priced. read more

For one I'm on the first floor and it feels like a prison, any time of the day you go into the hall it feels like night time. It is so dark and dingy, not welcoming at all. Secondly the shower is so weird, there's no curtain and it's hidden in a corner. Again feels like a cell. Then to make it ALL better. At 8 am this morning I was awoke by a maid who didn't even KNOCK, trying to barge my door open with the latch still on. She did not once yell maid service or anything. Didn't even knock. Night staff at the hotel were very rude. Made several comments about my dog even tho the hotel claimed to be pet friendly. Charged me twice for the room instead of the 15$ pet charge. We got it straightened out after she cursed several times and it took several extra minutes. Not the most welcoming. The grounds were clean, the bed was comfortable, but the pillows were too soft. Last night we stayed here (2 adults, 4 kids), and we were very pleased. We stayed in a double queen suite comfortably. The room was well stocked and clean. There was even a little snack basket with complimentary water bottles, peanuts, and popcorn. Breakfast was very good complete with waffles, biscuits & gravy, and pretty good coffee. We stayed at sleep inn because of the pictures and because there's not much to choose from in Colby. Very pleasantly surprised. The staff treat you so well, it's better service than most 4 stars. Only downside is no pool and the gym really isn't very functional. But pet friendly. Many people stay there and they seem like normal people. I will probably not stay again only because I won't be back to Colby. There is a park not far away for kids, also monument rocks is only 1 hour away. read more

IF YOU WANT CORONAVIRUS STAY HERE! We came with a group of 12 people spread out into four rooms. We arrived well after the time the room was supposed to be ready, but we got to the hotel and only one of our four rooms was clean. The maids took well over 45 minutes to clean the other three rooms that should've already been done. None of the maids and staff were wearing a mask or gloves. The maids were definitely taking their sweet time when it was clear 12 of us were jam packed into one room. When our rooms were finally "done" we had to wipe them down ourselves because the maids were not wearing any protective gear and did not seem to wipe down the tables, remote, phone, etc. The tv looks like they bought it at a garage sale and it glitched out very often. The WiFi was also horrible. The bathroom shower drain did not work by itself, so I had to physically hold it up after I finished showering in a pool of water. The furniture looked absolutely disgusting. And the AC was extremely annoying as it was going off every five minutes. Breakfast was okay and checkout was fast. read more

Ok guys & gals...this is the place to stay when passing thru Colby! After 15 hrs driving in from the East we needed a comfy, reasonably priced & pet friendly spot to rest our heads. First call was to Hampton Inn...nothing but service dogs allowed, costly & not very helpful. 2nd call was to Holiday Inn Express. $125 per nite & a pet fee non-refundable of $25...so left YELP & searched Colby Hotels & found Sleep Inn & Suites & how happy I am to have discovered them! A "Managers Discount" at $89.99 per night for a room with 2 DBL beds & pet fee of $15. This hotel is beside the Holiday Inn Express & is conveniently located just off the interstate. Staff extremely kind & welcoming, rooms clean & pleasantly decorated with fridge, etc. and our room had a fresh clean smell as did the crisp sheets & the beds were super comfy. Breakfast was a treat too with eggs, sausage, waffles, pastries, fruit & delish coffee & juices. A big step up from your typical "motel breakfast". So it was a good experience, well worth every penny & we r refreshed & on the road. "Tuck" gives it a big thumbs up too! Oh, very quiet in the rooms too!! Perfect stop for me and my hound. My gps had me turned around a bit getting to the hotel but once I got there it was smooth sailing. Check-in was seamless, room was modern, spacious and clean with microwave and small fridge. The area felt very safe. Room had a large tub and granite counter tops, which was a bonus! I didn't want to drive anywhere for dinner because I had the hound, so it was nice to see a Jimmy Johns right across the parking lot, as well as a Walmart. Breakfast was pretty typical with sausage, eggs and biscuits and gravy. They also had cereal and yogurts, pastries etc. Coffee was good and there is plenty of grass to walk your dog and they do have a designated patch of lawn for your pet. I paid $104 on a weekday plus $15 fee for pup. read more

The description for the hotel said it had a pool. It doesn't. When we asked to swim at their sister property, the front desk attendant called his manager to ask, the manager said no. The management knew the wrong info was online and had an opportunity to make it right but failed. There was hardly anyone in town and would of really been a fun time for our family.
