We followed all instructions (boxed all belongings, etc.). We had several treatments, and after every treatment, more bedbugs appeared. Sometimes there was a week or so of no activity. After a few treatments, Black Widow did an inspection and deemed the apartment "negative". Within a couple of weeks, my five year old daughter had bites on her arms. I contacted Black Widow and I was told that since they deemed the apartment "negative", my daughter has allergies. Or mosquitoes, or something. A week later, I caught a live bedbug and notified Black Widow. I was asked if I have a photo of the insect. Apparently, unless you take selfies at 2am with the intruder, the intruder does not exist. After I insisted, they agreed to do another treatment. Within a week after the last treatment, I caught 5 live ones in one night alone. Decided to hire another vendor. Asked Black Widow to refund the apartment owner. They said that "there are no guarantees when it comes to bedbugs". They advised that they could do another treatment (billable) if I remove my couch. So, after three months and $2,000 later, not only was the issue not resolved. I have to spend thousands of $ on new furniture to qualify for a new "treatment". The new vendor offered a 90 days guarantee after the final treatment, three weekly treatments and he only charged $762. Today, less than a week after the last treatment provided by Black Widow, the new exterminator found 23 bedbugs in the apartment... Stay away.

The thing is, when I woke up this morning to find a live bedbug walking across my comforter in front of my nose, I instantly went into full panic mode--not because bedbug bites are so terrible (you'll survive)--but because the PROCESS is MISERABLE. Here was what was horrible BEFORE I found Ecology Ep: *Landlord pretended like he'd never heard of such a thing, and only begrudgingly sent his "exterminator" who sprayed with generic chemicals around the perimeter and left me with hopping mad bedbugs. (Note to 25 year old me: Small Claims Court is your friend.) *I was poor and as a result (or so I thought) the guy I could afford said that I had to do a lot of work on my own. Meaning: *Bagging up everything I owned. *Carrying everything that I could wash to the laundromat. *Dry cleaning what I could afford to dry clean and throwing away the rest. *Buying a new mattress cover and putting it on my infested mattress all by myself. *Throwing out half my furniture. *And even then he had to come back twice, probably because I didn't do everything correctly (given that I was doing it all by myself.) Arnold put me through none of that. It was AMAZING. Here's why: *Great price written right on the website--and LESS than what I paid in 2007. That's shocking--you'll see why in a minute--but it was also great because it meant I could call my landlords and say: "Here's what we're doing, THIS is the price, you're legally obligated to pay for it, and we're doing it tonight before the problem becomes insane. Also, it's coming out of my rent." They said, "Oh my god oh my god fine!" *They guaranteed the work at the industry standard, also right on the website. Another thing I could tell my landlords. *They're licensed and insured and used proper invoicing, also great for dealing with landlords. *Ecology Ep showed up the same day I called. *Arnold brought a small ARMY of people. Four workers, all very sweet. *The price INCLUDED mattress covers for my bed AND my futon. *THEY put the mattress covers on (the worst job ever.) *THEY moved all my furniture--but I didn't have to throw anything away! *THEY bagged up all the things that needed washing. *THEY helped me carry all my stuff to the laundromat. *Instead of putting me through the cost of dry cleaning, THEY brought a steam cleaner and steamed all my good clothes. *AND they didn't just spray with Ecologically sound (but guaranteed!) chemicals, but they ALSO sealed the cracks in my floors and steamed all my books and things I probably couldn't clean on my own. *AND they found the bedbug nest. And killed those jerks. *AND they were extremely kind and lovely about it, from beginning to end. A real plus when you're traumatized by bedbugs. Also, I asked Arnold to check another property while he was in the area, and he found no bedbugs. He could easily have sold me on more work, but he didn't lie, above-and-beyond compassion and professionalism I found consistent with the negative review and his response listed here. Frankly, his straightforward response to the negative review on his free service was an additional reason for me to hire him. Arnold told me he has a lot of contracts now with a lot of large shelters, dorms, and schools, and I believe it. As a young single woman, Ecology EP's help was enormous at an unbelievable price. After spraying the first time they said to wait 10 days and then call them back if I still had problems. After 10 days I called them up and they came again to spray. Problem was so much better after the second spray. They said I should call them up again after another 10 days if I have any more issues. I like the dedication to the job. So, when I started to see one or two bugs around, on top of realizing that the rash on my arm was not a rash, but bites, I immediately started looking for a pest control company. I called NYC Bed Bugs LLC on a Wednesday, and they had someone there on Thursday to do a free inspection. Raymond, the pest control specialist that was sent over, examined my home thoroughly, and did inform me that I had a mild bed bug infestation. Raymond then explained everything that would be done to deal with the issue on their end, and what preparations I would need to address on my end. The very next morning Raymond and Angel (a technician) were at my apartment with their gear, taking care of my issue. I hope that you never have to deal with bed bugs, but if you do, I would have to say that this is the company to use. I cannot say enough good things here, but I will hit a few basics: absolute professionals, and thorough. It was comforting to know what they were going to be doing, and how detailed the extermination would be handled. Also, the 2 week follow-up visit is done with the same caution and concern; they do not rush through, as if there is no care. Now this next one may not seem important, but if you get bed bugs and have your comfort level all twisted and turned upside down, then you'd understand why this is important: they are compassionate and understanding. Having no prior experience with bed bugs, I had questions and concerns about what I would be seeing after the first extermination, and how to handle the situation. Raymond, answered all of my questions, spent time reassuring me, and showed a level of sensitivity to a situation that he deals with everyday, and could easily be desensitized from. Having a company, and a specialist like that taking care of my issue, has gotten me back to sleeping again, and getting Me comfortable in my home again. Again, I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but if it happens, these are the people use.
