Mariela was nice and made me feel comfortable. Unfortunately, it is quite obvious she lacks experience and certifications. I often do my own makeup but I hired someone for my graduation so I wouldn't have to worry. I paid $95 + $10 tip even though the makeup was quite awful. If I'm paying that much, I expect the MUA to use high quality products but Mariela used products I can get at CVS or Target (like a Maybelline foundation). There's nothing wrong with using drug store products but if you're charging $100, I expect better. I asked Mariela for a specific eye look and showed a picture for reference. The look I got consisted of uneven eyeliner lines and smudged colors. My eyebrows were squared and uneven. When she handed me a mirror after she was done, I wanted to cry because I knew I wasn't gonna have enough time to redo it myself before my graduation. She asked if anything needed fixing and I didn't have the heart to tell her everything needed fixing. I still tipped her because I would've felt embarrassed otherwise.
