The care was excellent from the ER to CT, from OR to the floor, from food service to custodial...we can't speak highly enough. My wife had an extensive and serious stay several years ago, and HSMC saved her life on multiple occasions. We will forever be indebted to them. No place is ever going to be perfect, but they did a pretty good job in our opinions.

These…read moretests were suggested by my Cardiologist since I was experiencing some shortness of breath when walking in my neighborhood for exercise recently. I hadn't had any tests done on my heart recently and it seemed like a good idea since I had 3 stents placed in my heart back in 2007. After an Echo cardiogram and the nuclear stress showed some problems, the next step was an appointment for a Heart Catheterization at Ortenzio. It was after this test that Dr. Connelly told me that I would need Heart bypass surgery since that was the best way to remedy the new blockages. Surgery was scheduled for February 18,2025. Every one at Ortenzio was great! Some names I have managed to remember...Dr. Connelly, Erin, Naomi Katey, Eric....and all the rest who took care of me whose names I can't remember a great big THANK YOU! I arrived by ambulance, got a quick vitals check -- and then sent to the waiting room with high blood pressure. 7 hours later my blood pressure is still high and I am 60, got tired of siting as I have bad knees/arthritis and couldnt sit anymore. I called Penn Health Hampden and they told me they could take me right away. It was so sad. When the ambulance brought me to UPMC West Shore no one smiled-- when I saw how packed the ER wait room was I could understand why! There were people waiting 10 and more hours for assistance! MY GOD. That is NOT ok. Too many people falling through the health care cracks and not enough staffing to assist! Welcome to the New America? Thankfully I was stabilized by Penn Health Hampden. Sugar was 350. blood pressure brought down, and breating issues treated. Ty Penn Health Hampden I know this is hard to predict -- hospital care needs change day to day, but we have to have better health care and support!

His surgeon was extremely nice, took the time to explain his procedure, the nurses and anesthesiologist were also very nice. As soon as his procedure was complete, the surgeon came to the waiting room to explain his procedure to me and then they called me back to post op to be with him. I highly recommend this facility!
