Medisterapolese, merguez, bresolinni, were some of the meats we had to munch on outside in the square after hitting the cheese shop and bakery, a few doors down. The workers wear old school uniforms and hats to impart a time long past. Super helpful, I got into a discussion about the Medisterapolese with one butcher and I knew this place was going to be awesome. Is it weird that I can carry on a long convo with a butcher about the charcuterie arts? The moment you walk inside you are hit in the face with the delicious smell of smoked meats which are hanging from the wall. The shop sells high quality raw pork and beef; several smoked products (bacon, sausages, salami), and a selection of garnishes for meat dishes. They will cut the meat up and mince it right in front of you if you ask them to; after you tell them your selection they end up going to a massive walk in meat fridge; with whole cows hanging inside. They charge 38 DKK for half a kilo of minced beef. The products are on the tables; nothing is pre-packaged. When you purchase the meat, they wrap it into brown paper, no plastic packages can be found inside this shop. Great location; my first stop on my shopping trip in Amager each time. HIGHLY recommended. Take a whiff of history.
