We came here at the recommendation of a local friend, plus this store was open super late at night, while most other places were closed. We were told by my friend this was a "dangerous" part of town in Malmö, but not once did we feel anything wrong. In fact, everyone was really nice. The staff were great, and nice at giving recommendations. I had the shawarma, and it was the first time I had one in breading like this. Almost like a pita bread in shape, but much much thicker- to hold all that greatness. It was a wonderful meal, and I knew I would be having another one within hours, at a different spot. Widerbergs well-deserved reputation as a deli is due its most classical baguette sandwich called, so originally I might add, a Widebergare. A medley of spreads combined in such organized and delicate ways you will be taken on a journey. A journey containing a travel pass, a travel among the smooth and creamy taste of cheese to the salty and smoky taste of cold cuts to the sugary taste of sweet canned peaches to the zingy taste of horseradish and more. The same sandwich can also be ordered only to contain cheese and that is also a highly recommended medley. I am pretty sure you won't go wrong with whatever you order from the menu but the spicy chicken or the chicken with tzatziki sauce on ciabatta bread are surly to die for even though the last one is somewhat messy to eat. Medisterapolese, merguez, bresolinni, were some of the meats we had to munch on outside in the square after hitting the cheese shop and bakery, a few doors down. The workers wear old school uniforms and hats to impart a time long past. Super helpful, I got into a discussion about the Medisterapolese with one butcher and I knew this place was going to be awesome. Is it weird that I can carry on a long convo with a butcher about the charcuterie arts? As predicted, fabulous meat products and it's also good to know my own butcher makes a very comparable product.

Malmstens is kind of in the middle of the food hall and they are in an area that feels like an atrium given the sky light from the window ceiling that provides a bright dining experience. They have a bar seating area as well a mix of high and regular tables. This place is all about seafood. I ordered the Fish soup which comes with a salad. The simple leaf salad is self serve and includes bread with a Honey mustard dressing. The soup was excellent! Light Tomato base and full of Salmon, Saith, Plaice & Cod. Perfect lunch! Paired it with a draft Nils Oscar which I think is one of the best Swedish Lagers. My server's were all very friendly and attentive pointing out the English menu on the board and answering my questions with a smile. Only way it could've been better is if it were freezing outside.
