TL;DR - The entire experience was exceptional; I could not find ANYTHING to complain about! This is going to be a long review, but if you are seriously exploring roofing companies, this is the review you are going to want to read. Back in 2018, a very large roofing company that shall not be named (not Slade Roofing), used a contest entry marketing tactic to get into my home and give me a free "inspection" of our roof, in which their "professional" opinion determined that my attic did not have proper ventilation and thus my shingles were ruined and I needed a completely new 25 year GAF roofing system in the tune of what was at the time $25k. I didn't know anything about roofing and yet they were immediately pushing a contract at me and expecting me to sign it on the spot as this great "deal" was only good if I were to sign it right then and there. Long story short, I told them I needed time and showed them the door. With such a scare that my roof was about to completely collapse on top of me at any moment, I sought a second opinion from Slade Roofing. The owner personally met with me and informed me that my roof was completely fine and had no problems whatsoever. Not only that, he gave me a demonstration to show me the superiority of the Malarkey shingles over the GAF ones, and then told me that if I had needed my shingles replaced, that he could have done it with a 50 year shingle, and at more than half of the cost of what the other company quoted us! The "crisis" was averted and being that I didn't need a roof, that was where we left it. Fast forward to the present. My family is building a new home and we needed a roof system put on it. I was worried where Slade Roofing is such a large company that their prices would be out of our budget, so I didn't even want to waste their time by getting a quote from them and instead quoted from several other smaller companies and contractors in the area. Being that I was sold on Malarkey shingles, I found a general contractor that would be willing to install them on our roof for us and we decided to move forward with that route. When the time came in our build where we were ready to have them installed, this general contractor we had chosen was unable to install the shingles and informed us they were delayed by at least a couple of weeks. Now, I do not fault this company as I understand in the world of construction that things do come up, but when we have other sub contractors that are already scheduled and depend on things being on time, this was going to throw a wrench in to a lot of other people's schedules as well. That being the case, I decided to reach out to Slade Roofing just to see how far out their scheduling was and to see if we could make it work with our limited budget. For time frame reference, I spoke with them on a Tuesday and they were able to get on site and get the roof done on Thursday of that same week, and it was all done in just 1 day! I'm not saying they will always be able to make things happen that quickly, but dang that was fast! As for the budget, I will admit that they were not as cheap as our original general contractor quote, however, the price difference was not astronomically more expensive either (speaking of astronomical price differences, in my initial process of getting roof quotes for building our house I inadvertently received a quote from that same large company that I had dealings with in 2018. A person reached out to us asking to give us a roofing quote and did not tell us their affiliation until AFTER we'd given them our information. That quote price was MORE THAN FOUR TIMES more expensive than Slade Roofing!). As for the price being a little more expensive than the general contractor price had quoted us, in the end, I felt that it was a justifiable increase because of the kind of business that Slade Roofing is. I'm not saying that the general contractor wouldn't have done a good job, but they didn't have any guarantees or warranty with their work. On the other hand, Slade Roofing is one of the few roofers in Idaho that is certified by Malarkey to install their shingles. They also guarantee their work and if anything does happen to go wrong, they will stand by their work and will fix it and make it right. They run the kind of business that not only uses quality shingles and does quality work, they also will stand by their work if something doesn't work. It's a peace of mind worth paying more for. They came and reshingled our roof after the previous owners failed to do so after a major hailstorm. They worked with us to come up with a work plan that fit the budget and still got all the necessities done. We ended up needing to get plywood installed under our shingles to bring the roof up to code, which was an unexpected expense, but again, they worked with us to make it as manageable as possible. The new roof looks great, they worked through the whole day to get it done, and their cleanup afterward was top-notch. They were a pleasure to work with, even with something as unpleasant as an unexpected major expense with the roof. read more

We had a leak in our roof and contacted roofing companies to check out the roof. Slade Roofing responded the fastest and sent out a person to check out our roof within the week. They inspected the roof with me and identified the problem quickly. We agreed that our best approach would be to replace the roof now, as opposed to a repair now, and replacement in the future. Other roofing companies also responded, but more slowly, and they were unable to commit to replace the roof this summer. They could patch the roof and replace the roof next summer. Slade started the work 1-2 weeks later. The crew they sent worked hard, were friendly, and the roof was completed in less than 3 days. We asked that they not play loud music because we have neighbors who work from home, and they complied. The only complaint we had was that they did not pay as much attention to protecting the plants around our home as we wished. Initially, we had expressed a concern about damaged plants, and they indicated they would pay attention and try to avoid damage to the plants. We had several plants that were damaged. In response, Slade Roofing did give us a generous gift certificate at a local nursery to replace the damaged plants. In hindsight, I should have not only asked that they protect the plants, but also asked how they intended to protect the plants as they tore off the old roof. Other than this, the crew was friendly, and they all worked very hard. Completing the roof in less than 3 days took focus and hard work. Slade had a person on sight for most of the job. He also was very friendly and repeatedly asked how they were doing and did we have any complaints. He took pictures of the work as it proceeded and shared some of the drone over-head pictures with me. He did not appear to interact very much with the crew, though. The crew all were Spanish speakers (some also spoke English very well). We interacted with the crew a fair amount, given my wife is also a native Spanish speaker. I needed someone to check out my roof to help with the sale of my house. I called Slade Roofing in the morning to get a quote (to fix a leak in my roof), and left a message. Tyler called me about 10 minutes later, and said he would try to get someone over to look at it (I assumed it would be a few days to a week, which was about as good as could be expected). Less than 4 hours later, Dee was already on my roof checking it out. He kept me in the loop during his visit, and let me know that someone would be back to complete the repairs. Ryan called me later (about 4 pm) to schedule a time the following morning. Ryan sent me pictures of what he did (I was not home when he completed the work the next day). I cannot say enough good about this company! Could not be more pleased with the customer service and communication. I will admit they did a great job on my roof. I will never use them again or recommend them to anyone. I will be calling my insurance who suggested them to me to tell them to not suggest them to anyone else. They never showed up the first two dates they set up and never called after being a no show. I have to make the initiative to reschedule appointments since they were to incompetent to do so. Also after I chose the color for my roof I made a down payment which Tyler said that will be all I would have to pay. The girl who helped us choose shingle color came up with the price and I asked three different time if that is all I will have to pay and she said yes. But of coarse the company had more plans to lie to me and charge much more then they said. Ya my insurance gave me more money for the roof and I used the extra money to pay off hospital bills. Yes it's my fault but they Dee didn't have to act like an ass about claiming they aren't a bank and that banks would make you pay for the charges as well. As I made my last payment Dee decided to call me to say I owe even more because of their accounting error. Sorry that's not my fault that once again your incompetence failed you again. He so "generously" only let me pay half since it's their error. I'm sorry Dee but the banks would have done better with an accounting error.
