They went through all the pros and cons of material and construction options with me so I could make the best decision for my needs and budget. They also provided written documentation of how they were going to do everything - details on how the support posts would be set, on the structure, and on the deck boards, etc, many of which were beyond what the local building code requires. And then they were able to deliver on what they said they would do. The new support structure for my deck is rock solid, I swear I could park a truck on it. Good communication with me throughout the entire process. And the finished product is beautiful. I went with a composite deck material. While not the least expensive quote that I had, they were competitive. I went with them because I wanted it done right and last many years, and I fee that they were able to give me that.

I have tried no less than 5 times to issue payment over the phone. They are impossible to get ahold of and the answering services did not give me a call back. For extremely busy professionals that live in the digital age, perhaps #1 be nice - I work hard and don't need your poor attitude when I'm trying to pay you #2 offer a way to pay online or on the phone so I don't have to find my darn checkbook and a stamp and an envelope to pay you after making 5 phone calls. They got the job done. It was four months late of the original quote - which I did not complain about except that I asked for updates every 3-4 weeks. It was not a overall pleasant or okay experience. If their workers are good, I apologize for the low review - management and customer service is everything and will cost you your business if done poorly. Advice: Retrain staff on courteous, kind, helpful email language. Trying to blame me for not answering your phone is not okay. Get in the digital age and allow online payment Answer your phone during business hours When using an answering service, actually call back the customer Don't inflate your scores on Google to get customers like me when the service is not 4-star and I have 4-star expectations. It is always a risk to take that leap of faith, and we're grateful we found Michigan's Best Deck Builders. Our story: Aaron came over to give us an estimate and scope of work. He was incredibly meticulous and methodical with his quote and sketch from the start. He answered all of our questions with confidence and he was very calm (not salesy/pushy). We continued to take several weeks to obtain 5 additional quotes from other deck builders in the area. There are some great ones out there with big names, flashy marketing, and superstar type-A personalities, and competitive "we'll beat any quote" pricing, and they all made us feel very comfortable, no complaints. Here's where Michigan's Best Deck Builders stood out: Aaron runs a tight ship and doesn't outsource his work to a 3rd party team. I want to spend money with them, but no one wanted to take our money. I came across Deck Men's advertisement in one of the local coupon books, left a message and received a call back the very next day. I believe it was even over a holiday weekend. I received my quote within another few days and we were already looking at colors by the end of the week. They were very responsive to our questions and extremely helpful. LThey completed the job within the time line they committed and did an excellent job. The owner was also very helpful in answering our questions about other repairs that didn't relate to the current job and giving us free advise. In completing the job, they were supposed to leave the extra paint with us for future touch up work, but they forgot. One call in and I had the extra paint waiting on my porch in about two days. They were slightly more expensive than their competition, but you get what you pay for right? We paid more, but received excellent customer service in exchange.
