We recently moved up to Andrews NC and needed Internet Service. I tried three different companies: Frontier, The Cable Company, and SkyTek. Frontier was one of the most frustrating efforts in my 64 years. I tried to get service, never received service, and paid for the work and now they have billed me for a month's service. I've called eight times and now understand why they have a class action suit pending. Because of my location, I wasn't sure The Cable Company provided service. I called them, they were very nice and said that they thought that it could work for me. They checked it out and I never heard back from them. Doesn't inspire confidence. Finally, SkyTek. They said that they thought that they could provide service. Came out and verified it could happen (within 3 days). They let me know it was doable and asked when I'd like it hooked up. Two days later it was done with no muss and no fuss. The two guys came out, knew what they were doing and got it done. They asked where I wanted it installed and then did it. They double checked things and found an installation error (one was a new employee) and fixed it. Before leaving. Technical Specs just took (Speedtest): Test 1: Ping rate: 38 ms; Download: 33.89 mbps; Upload: 8.97 mbps Test 2: Ping rate: 27 ms; Download: 33.63 mbps; Upload: 10.03 mbps I've had the service for two months and couldn't be more pleased. It's good quality, reasonably fast and only occasionally glitches when streaming. When I've contacted them, I've gotten an excellent response. I can't say enough about them. My name is Lori and I'm so happy we found SkyTek Communications in Murphy, North Carolina. For the last 10 years we have been using Windstream for telephone and Internet service. Recently the service has been very unreliable! When we come up to our cabin in Blairsville, I work remotely for our business and with updated technology increasing, Windstream has not been able to handle it. I was so frustrated with Windstream, I searched for an alternate Internet Service in Blairsville, GA and found SkyTek Communications. I called and they sent out Justin to see if we were in range of their tower and reviewed their internet plans with us. We immediately scheduled an install of their Antenna and router. I gave them a try. I knew what I was getting into when I signed up. Sure they promise you 6MB download. However, They won't tell you that from 4PM to midnight you will be lucky to see 1MB. You will always get 2MB upload. The ping rate is usually 40 to 50... Never good. I have a months worth of Speedtest.net results to back up my posting. Always tested to the Elijay node. If you have heard of this thing called streaming, well the only time you will stream is early morning when everyone is in bed. If you attempt to stream during daylight hours there will be a constant buffering. As soon as the show gets good, you will pause for five minutes to buffer. You will never stream after 4PM. Your TV will not even load a menu it is so slow. If you are only going to use the internet once a day to check email then you will love Skytek. I need internet to work. Skytek was my BackUP internet for a couple of years. Lately, they must have taken on too many customers and didn't grow their backbone to support the new subscribers. Too bad. Now the customers suffer. I overlooked the weather factor mainly because Skytek can't control the weather. You should know going in that you will not have internet when it is foggy, raining or any chance of snow. That's right. You will not have internet when there is weather in the area. A clear sunny day=internet. I can't tell you that there is a better internet provider in the community. Based on my experience Skytek could not provide what they have promised. I have also tried to communicate my concerns with them. They don't answer or return email. When you call the phone just rings. I just gave up and walked in and cancelled. No one cared...
