THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!!!!…read more It's kind of out in the middle of no where but eventually after we finally found it around all the construction detours we were kind of shocked that it's basically in the side of a mountain. Actually the paintball is in a cave in the side of a mountain. That's awesome all by itself as it's not everyday that you get to explore a cave and play paintball. Anyway, this review if for the laser tag. I got a Groupon a long time ago for my friend's daughter and she had been begging me to go when I came to visit. The place had just opened when we got there so we were able to place two games just with our group and then another group showed up. Let me just say first of all that this place seems really great to have a kids birthday party or get-together. There is a lot of space and video games and laser tag and paintball to keep everyone busy. It's not just for kids and I'm almost going to guarantee that everyone in your party will have fun. Our Groupon was for 3 games for 4 people. There are two types of games; teams and free-for-all. I really like the fact that when you play teams it's not an endless amount of shots. You have to go back to your home base to reload and gain your life points back. It keeps it a little more fair then just continuous shots. Also when you get shot a shield goes up for you so you get some time to walk briskly away and find shelter before your shield goes down. Don't be shy about playing against people you don't know because it actually makes it more fun because it really doesn't matter who is who, just keep FIRING!!! Free-for-all is just what is sounds like. Every man or woman for his/herself. That game is endless shots and endless lives. The layout of the course is great with lots of hiding spaces and reasonably safe for all levels of fitness. The games are much longer than other laser tag places I've been too which is also great. We did two games back to back and then took a break. I suggest you pace yourself as well as you will sweat and your heart will race and you will probably be out of breath 50-75% of the time. It's so much fun and a great way to get some exercise! We went with two adults and two kids and left sweating and with smiles on our faces. Both kids fell asleep in the car afterwards (BONUS!)

I entered with my grandchildren, and the Assistant Manager along with another associate simply chatted among themselves while I stood visibly waiting for assistance. Let's just say I corrected them quickly on this unprofessional misstep. 2. Numerous machines were out of service, yet they continued deducting points without providing any of the promised services. I had to personally keep returning to the front desk, which took away from the experience. 3. Every employee except the young lady at the front desk was engrossed in their cellphones. 4. I had to search repeatedly for staff to operate the rides so my grandchildren could enjoy what was available, as stations remained unmanned. 5. Staff members were eating at the front desk openly, with the Assistant Manager bringing food to one employee while I was trying to have points put back on the card yet again from another game not working. 6. The ticket redemption station was closed/locked. I had to return to the front desk again to find the young man who should have been back there standing at the front desk eating. He casually said he was "trying to eat" when I inquired about exchanging tickets for prizes. This entire experience was beyond disappointing--and there are no valid excuses. Numerous establishments take your money without delivering quality service. This is one of those places. We wasted far too much time attempting to spend $100 worth of tokens, and we will absolutely not return.

However, whoever the blonde waitress in the purple shirt was should not be working in a place specifically for children. She was mean to the kids. I thought maybe the kids, being middle schoolers, may have done something. I did some investigation into this and found that any of my students that tried to interact with her had a poor experience. The kids tried ordering food from her and she straight up ignored them. She threw menus down on the bar top at them. She glared at them and made "stink faces" at them. She put in an order for one of my students incorrectly and proceeded to blame it on my student. I observed this behavior myself. She was rude to me as well, saying "You need to give me a minute because I have all of these other people to worry about." Then continued to not help any of the other people she pointed to. I waitressed and bartended for ten years before going into teaching. This behavior is not okay, especially toward kids in an establishment where the targeted audience is kids. If she was overwhelmed or stressed, I understand that. What I do not understand is the blatant disrespect. She acted out of immaturity more than any kid there. If the excuse is understaffing, then Main Even should've scheduled more people on a day they knew had several schools scheduled to be there. Also, understaffing is not an excuse to be crass to a bunch of kids. I observed this behavior from her doing this to kids outside of my district as well. The kids did not know they couldn't order soft drinks from the bar area. Instead of telling them this, she gave them hateful looks and ignored them. To get her to come up to you, the kids either had to get an adult because she would blatantly ignore them or call for her when she was standing there not doing anything. Most of the time, she was hiding in the kitchen. Even then, if the kids came to get me, I had to do the most to get her attention. The entitlement coming from her was obvious. She thought she could do whatever she wanted because she was dealing with kids. I have no clue why she stayed behind the bar on a day where absolutely no one is drinking because there are more than five schools there and no one can drink, but she did whatever she could to get out of doing her job. She ended up resulting to telling the kids to go to the other food line, which was at least fifty people deep at all times, because she didn't want to put in the food orders. She said it would be faster. Anyone with eyes knew she was lying. I apologize for the long review. However, I do not appreciate or take it lightly when adults who take out their insecurities, unhappiness, and bad days on children. If you don't like dealing with kids, don't work at a place where you are going to be dealing with a lot of kids.

The space is super unique, and the massive cylindrical support structures made for super interesting engagements. That being said, I think there are a few things that could make it a better experience in the future. The biggest thing would be more slow down respawns, and introduce new game modes. The constant onslaught of unlimited life TDM might work really well for paintball, but airsoft benefits from limited life game modes with revives and/or objective based modes to slow down the gameplay a little bit, especially on a field that small. There was at least one game where my entire team were just sitting in our spawn because we'd all ran out of ammo - hpa, aeg, and gbbr players alike. One new game mode that could be fun and work for the space is a 1 life tdm, played to best of 3 or best of 6, flipping sides every round or 2. It could reset until everyone needs to come off the field and reload. It'd be nice to have a clear sense of who won, and who lost, as I honestly couldn't tell you who won or lost any of the games yesterday. It also didn't seem like the refs were super attentive to the game. There was at least one player who consistently was shining a laser in people's eyes, and kept doing so even after they were told to stop by referees. As I looked through my footage last evening, there were several moments where I noticed the refs were grouped together, instead of spread across the field. Lastly, it's worth mentioning that it was extremely frustrating to have my group be split up for most of the day. We drove three hours each way to come play together, but we ended up only getting to play on the same team 2 or 3 rounds the whole day because the referees wouldn't let us play together, and they never really explained why. This was the main thing we complained about on our way home, and is the main reason we wouldn't want to come back in the future. We are looking forward to airsoft getting to play on the outdoor fields as the weather warms up, and we will be back to try those out. the Fort specifically looks like it would have super interesting gameplay

A bit of a bummer that the 3D Lego theater was down for maintenance but love that they have 4 different movies showing when it's up and running. It was even better than the first because I got to experience some of the activities geared toward the little ones as well. There's so much to do! Between building stations, rides, hands-on activities, and checking out the Lego city of KC landmarks, it took us a couple of hours before our son was completely worn out. I also love that it's within walking distance of Crown Center shopping and the fountains. My biggest complaint is that it can get super busy--think mass chaos, kids running around, and people shoulder to shoulder--and it isn't always as clean as I'd like. Pro tip: Book ahead to take advantage of coupon discounts. It helps save a little and ensures entry during busy times. Overall, it's a fantastic spot for kids in KC, and we'll definitely be back.
