I'm almost positive that NYC is housing homeless families at this hotel on the second floor. When you get off the second floor to get ice or go to the vending machines, there is a security guard stationed outside the elevators with a table. She is checking to see if you are supposed to be on that floor. I only saw young women with babies or young children on that floor. The room is not the cleanest (see pictures) and this is an older hotel. Floor access is not restricted so people are free to go to any floor in the building and you do not need a card to go up in the elevator. I paid $230.00 for what I think might be a welfare hotel and I'm now concerned about my safety.

My Boo chose to take me on a surprise mini vacation to New York. So let's take about this hotel. Pro: convenient to the city. Get free water bottle and WiFi Some where to lay your head at night. Valet parking personnel was great! Con: security harassed us. Falsely accused us of smoking marijuana!! The front desk woman threatened to charge us $200 extra if they continued to smell the scent of marijuana. First off the scent of marijuana is noticeably strong as soon as you exit the elevator on the fourth floor. The hotel is undergoing construction and painting. Which is no problem but they should post warning signs and labels or have detours. There was also lights hanging from the ceiling. The shower walls had strings of hair inside. Hotel personnel was rude and unwelcoming. Also this hotel apply additional fees! Like what is a "special fee" ? There was like several additional fees. Blah !! If you're just looking for somewhere to just store your things, shower and go explore the city well yea sure book here. At your own risk! Oh, the walls are very thin too. You can hear your neighbors conversations. Used linen but I think that's every hotel; not sure. I mentioned that because you can see pubic hairs in the wash cloths. Unacceptable. You get what you pay for I guess, but essentially I think you should always treat people how you want to be treated. I rate the customer services a 0. Don't believe the photos... The pool area was gross.

I was in town for a 1-day conference, so came up the night before and stayed at the Skyline Hotel. It was about a 25 minute brisk walk from Penn Station, which I didn't mind at all. The check-in process went smooth. I had prepaid for a room with a King-sized bed, but they informed me at check-in that they didn't have one available, so they upgraded me to a room with two queen sized beds. I went up to the 4th floor and a housekeeper realized I looked confused when I couldn't find my room. It seems there are two parts to this hotel and thus two different elevator banks. I guess I should have paid more attention to the signage by the elevators. Anyway, she was very friendly and helped direct me to where I needed to go. Once I got on the right elevators, I was able to find my room. Speaking of the elevators, they are pretty small (probably can hold about 6 people without luggage), but they are in the midst of an elevator renovation. Some of the elevators are currently out of order while they work on them, but this was made clear at the time I booked my reservation and with signage near the elevators. Once I entered my room, I was surprised by how big it was and was certainly much larger than most hotels I've stayed at in NYC. This felt more like a normal sized hotel room to me. I then learned not to let the door close behind me, because it slams shut and makes a loud noise! The next thing that struck me was how blah the room decor was. Next was how warm the room was and after that 25-minute brisk walk, I needed to cool down. I couldn't find any thermostat control on the wall, so went over to the AC unit to adjust. The control panel was not exactly easy to access (see my picture) and I was thinking to myself, this is a really dumb design. I also noticed that the front panel didn't appear to be on correctly, so in my attempt to fix it, it fell off. This is when I saw the mouse traps, fortunately with no dead mouse in it. But there were certainly droppings on the sticky pad. Yuck! I put the panel back on, and adjusted the temperature down, but quite frankly, the room never really got cold enough for me. I then realized also why I could hear so much outside noise, and it seems the top of one of my windows was open. Closing that helped the noise situation, but didn't help much with the overall temperature. You'll find many of the usual room amenities, including a safe, mini-fridge, hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. There was no coffee maker in the room. The hair dryer is attached to the wall, but actually sits outside the bathroom at a little "make-up" area desk. If you were trying to blow dry your hair and someone was still sleeping, that would likely be a problem. The bathroom was spacious with plenty of counter top space. The combined shower/bathtub also had a nice ledge in there to place item like soaps, shavers, shampoos, etc. Water pressure was good and I was able to get the water nice and hot to my liking. The toilet paper holder was loose and not hanging on the wall properly. There is a small workspace area with one outlet below the desk and one on the lamp. No wired Internet access is available, but paid WiFi is. It will cost you about $10/day, but lower price plans are available if you only need it for a few hours. There is also a business center int he lobby with a couple of PCs that you could use as well. I did not end up using the WiFi and instead simply used my mobile phone as a hotspot. Between the two queen beds was a nightstand and I was surprised to see that the alarm clock was not plugged in. I quickly realized that there were no outlets that you could easily get to. I actually had to move the one bed to get to one of the outlets. There is an outlet on the other side of the bed, but no table there, so didn't do me much good. As someone who uses a CPAP machine, I need a couple of outlets by the bed--one for the machine and I like another for my phone, which I use as my alarm clock. All in all, I was disappointed in this setup. The bed itself was comfortable with the mattress being more on the firmer side. The closet doors are mirrored doors, but in my room, one of the doors was off track preventing me from being able to close it. The closet is small, and the safe sits inside of the closet up on a pedestal. To check-out, I had to go back to the lobby and let them know. No bill was placed under my door like most hotels do these days. On the plus side, check-out time is not until noon. For what I paid though ($300+), I was left disappointed. I've stayed in other $300+/nt hotels in NYC that were better, but since my event was being held here, I figured I would make it easy and stay there as well. If I was up here on my own dime, I would look elsewhere.

Good hotel and average service ! Front desk was not so good ! But the rooms small and beds are tiny ! The toilet felt like made for small people too! Definitely not no skyline haha we were on 5 th floor and you did not see no view ! Don't trust the name ! It's a scam haha !

An AC guard about to fall off the 2nd floor

As a next door neighbor to this hotel, I can confirm that the second floor is a homeless shelter. That has not bring any problems, that I know of, until now. As the Covid crisis ensued, the management left the building! and they have disconnected their phone. Emailing hasn't worked. Every afternoon a group of kids, 5-15 kids gather at the entrance and sidewalk and use it as their playground. Running and jumping down the stairs and handicap ramp. One of the kids almost bumped into me and someone else. They scream until late at night. Many fights have taken place too. The police is short handed and it seems we are stuck with this nuisance/noise for who knows how long. Many of us are stuck at home following the "stay inside" orders while trying to work or just relax. Also, the Hotel is literally looking like is falling apart now. As an example, one of the AC guards is falling off the wall. If this Hotel treat their neighbors this way, and don't care how their Hotel is being ruined, I definitely have the right to warn others about their lack of responsibility and inability to take action.

What a great place to stay!! We really loved staying here. Price wise, it was unbeatable and it was really spacious! We had a deluxe Queen room for the price of a regular room in most hotels downtown.. and did I mention how spacious it was? The hotel was being remodeled during the summer, so I'm not sure if our room was before or after the remodeling. Regardless.. the bathroom was very nicely tiled and classy in tan and black (not your average white on white). The walk to Times Square wasn't bad at all at night and we stopped by the tiny convenience store across the street from the hotel on the way back to get drinks and snacks. As mentioned by others, they do have an indoor pool in the penthouse that closes at 9 or 10pm. Given the name of the hotel.. you guessed it, the view of the NY skyline from the penthouse floor is actually quite nice. I definitely recommend this place and would love to stay here again!

Traveling during the holidays can be hectic, but the staff at the Park Hyatt made everything feel effortless. Every interaction -- from the front desk to housekeeping to the concierge -- was filled with genuine kindness, patience, and warmth. It was clear they weren't just doing their jobs; they truly cared about making our holiday special. The hotel itself is stunningly elegant yet incredibly comfortable. After long walks through Central Park, returning to our room felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat. The spaciousness, thoughtful details, and quiet luxury made it easy for our family to relax, laugh, and simply be together -- which is what the holidays are really about. We had our first breakfast in New York at the hotel's "the living room" which is located in the lobby. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with modern decor and stunning 30 foot ceilings. We arrived at 7am as the restaurant just opened and Kamil greeted us with a warm genuine smile. We've stayed at 5 different Park Hyatts in the past 5 years (Kyoto being the most recent) and no one has made us feel as special as Kamil. He has the unique gift of hospitality. He went out of his way to treat us like family and made us feel very special. All of his small gestures, friendly smiles, and thoughtful attention to detail, turned simple moments into special memories. During a season meant for connection and joy, the Park Hyatt delivered both in abundance. Spending Christmas in New York is always special, but spending it at the Park Hyatt New York elevated the experience beyond anything we could have imagined. Our days were spent with full hearts, lasting memories, and deep gratitude for a team that understands true hospitality. This is a place we will return to -- not just for the luxury, but for the people who made us feel so genuinely at home during the most meaningful time of year.

Unfortunately, due to geopolitical instability impacting our return route through Amman and the broader Persian Gulf region, our travel plans became unworkable. I contacted multiple hotels involved in our itinerary, and every one of them demonstrated professionalism and understanding by waiving cancellation fees given the circumstances--including other Marriott properties and the Ritz-Carlton. This property, however, took a completely different approach. I spoke with Samir in the reservations department. He refused to provide any refund. We went back and forth multiple times, and each time he introduced a new justification. At one point, he claimed the U.S. State Department had not advised against travel to the Persian Gulf and that any warning had expired on March 31. I provided evidence that there was no expiration date, yet he continued to deny the request. I also explained that other Marriott properties and Ritz-Carlton locations had already issued full refunds under the same circumstances. Despite this, he continued to refuse any accommodation. Only after I told him I would be leaving a review about my experience did he offer a future credit. That is not a practical solution when I have no certainty of returning to Morocco. I then requested that a manager follow up with me. No one ever did. Communication stopped entirely. This response reflects a lack of flexibility, accountability, and basic customer consideration--especially when compared to how other properties under the Marriott International brand handled the exact same situation. As a result, I had to absorb the financial loss and cancel the reservation. Based on this experience, I recommend considering alternative accommodations that demonstrate greater responsiveness and professionalism when dealing with legitimate, unforeseen global disruptions.

Bonus-it was clean!! The iPad system to control the room is clever: manage the thermostat, tv, blinds/shades and lights. It takes a minute for the iPad to connect (not sure if it's a wifi issue or that these iPads are an older model). Speaking of the thermostat, it kinda worked. I think it shuts off or scales back when there's no movement in the room. I had a hard time getting it cooled down to a good temperature, so I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked. The bed is very comfortable, though...and even with the small space, there are plenty of places to hang clothes and store items. Several outlets and USB charging stations available as well. There aren't any washcloths - just hand/body towels... and it's up to you if you want to have your room lightly cleaned or fully turned over. (See your iPad to make that option). There was only one elevator working, so it could take a few minutes to get your lift up or down. The staff that we engaged with were great. Check in and out were super easy. I am familiar with CitizenM as I have been to their hotel bars in their Miami locations, but had never stayed at one. I truly enjoyed my experience here. From check in to ordering wine or coffee at the bar, to the room, it was all lovely. I will say, the room is quite small. But truly, what do you need a big room for when you're going to be exploring NYC all day? The bed we got was a king, and dare I say it was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The room is set up a bit like a studio, with two little closets which made it easy to organize and unpack, a small desk, and a vanity in the common area. The toilet and shower are together in what kind of looks like a spaceship capsule in the middle of the room. One cool thing is how high tech this hotel is - you have an ipad that controls everything in the room from the room temp, your blinds, to the TV, to connecting your devices to the TV to stream music, etc. In the lobby bar you can opt in for hotel breakfast buffet, but instead we would just grab coffees as we were getting ready. Grace at the bar was super friendly, as was all of the staff. My one area for improvement is the elevator. We received a notice that one of the three elevators was broken during our stay and every time we would get on the elevator it would take us multiple floors up before going down. Not the worst thing in the world, but just annoying if you're in a rush to get somewhere. If you are looking for an affordable, centrally located hotel to stay with a friendly staff this hotel is your spot. You have multiple subway stations within a 1-2 minute walk which can easily get you to any neighborhood you want to go during your stay. Would definitely return!

Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home. I got a petite room since I was traveling alone which I would not recommend for a couple, but for me it was perfect. The bathroom area was the best part and not at all an afterthought. They knew women would be coming and they nailed it, down to the magnifying mirror. Whenever you get to spend time with other book lovers, it's a plus, so I also very much loved being able to talk to people in the common room on the 2nd floor. Often times NYC misses this in their hotels. The books here aren't anything you really want to read so bring your own books but all in all 5+ stars for me!

Fellow bibliophiles will especially appreciate the concept of this book-laden bolthole. I really enjoyed being able to pop into the Reading Room at any time and get tea, water, fruit, and other snacks. The hotel's bar, Bookmarks, is a lovely space on the 14th floor to meet a friend for drinks, but make sure to get a reservation before heading up. Each floor of the Library Hotel is dedicated to one of the ten major categories of the Dewey Decimal system. My room was 800.003 Poetry, which is a petite room with one full bed. And when I say petite, I mean it! Think room for a bed and little else. But this is NYC so I didn't need much more. If you want to be in Midtown Manhattan, the Library Hotel is a perfect choice.

All the meeting rooms were clean and organized. We had over 1,000 conference attendees and needed ample space and everything went pretty smoothly. Temperature control was generally good, but got a tiny bit chilly at certain points of the day. The staff were extremely prompt with setting up and removing catering food, but were not the friendliest. They have a free standing pumping station for those that need it. It was easy to access and decently clean, but could've used a wipe down by the second day. They provided a mini fridge in one of the meeting rooms for storage.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! DO NOT BOOK HERE!…read more I came here around April for a work trip and no where on the reservation page did it say that the hotel was under construction. They also offered the price including breakfast. Arrived at the hotel and saw that they only had one working elevator for a hotel that was over 20 floors high. There was a line for the elevator that you had to wait for at least 20 minutes to take. I asked the about the breakfast and they said the restaurant was closed so no hot breakfast. Why is this hotel offering a room rate price with breakfast when there is no restaurant for breakfast?! They told me they had bagged breakfast, which was always gone and coffee was all gone too. Took over 10 minutes to wait for new coffee to arrive. Renovation work bright and early at 8am. I was offered loyalty points for compensation by the manager, Delanie, and these points never showed up. I was also mistakenly charged for drinking their water bottles when I didn't even touch those bottles. They never even told me that I was going to be charged after checking out. I just saw a random extra charge on my credit card. The manager, Delanie, had said this would be refunded, but never saw this refund come through just like the loyalty points.
