I call it DETR for short. During my period of unemployment, I dealt with this agency. All of my…read moreinteraction was mainly by telephone (I called so much I knew the number). I did do some things online as well (filing and checking my account, you will get a debit card, but every little transaction is counted and after the allowed amount of free inquiries, you get charged for each inquiry; getting your cash at Wells Fargo is free of charge btw). When I called, I made it a point to make it really early, as close to 8 am, in order to get a good place "in line." On a good day, I got someone who was eager to help and assist me with my questions and my claim. On a bad day, I got someone who was just trying to get through the day (kinda like the DMV). For the most part, I got nice people who gave me the information I needed. Here's a tip: have your info (date of last job, amount you made, etc.) with you, every time, because if there is a change in your information (this is the same set of 20 questions the voice prompt always asks for, before letting you speak to someone) your claim could get denied or delayed. This is for the first tier of unemployment benefits. (I was able to give some tips to my husband when he had a period of unemployment.) Technically, all people on unemployment benefits are supposed to show up at the Nevada Job Connect office for the seminar and to look at the availability of positions- if one does not have internet access at home (there is one on Maryland Parkway, across from the Boulevard Mall). ***If you get a part-time job, you will need to file (this is assuming that you do not make the same amount as your last job), so you would get a partial benefit.*** For the next tier, you will need to show proof that you are applying at jobs, no matter the method (faxing, online, in person, etc.) every week in order to qualify. You will need to fax or mail this form in to Carson City, Nevada. And you will need to call when the time period is over for your benefits (you should get a letter in the mail, explanation of benefits), and you will need to re-qualify. This all could change because there are extensions and the laws could change, as well. So, keep this in mind.

The phone number of Nevada DETR, Director's Office in Southern Nevada, is (702) 486-0350. Hours are…read moreMonday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and closed on holidays. These hours are revealed when you call outside of those times. I called on a Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. on the dot. The automated recording said, "Thank you for calling the telephone claim center. We are experiencing a heavy volume of calls and cannot accept your call at this time. [tells you to use the website] Thank you and have a good day." [call ends] The listings on Facebook and Google Maps currently list the following phone number: (702) 486-7923. When you call, it immediately plays the message, "Welcome to our voicemail system. You have reached the mailbox of 67923. Sorry, this mailbox is full and cannot accept any more recordings. Thank you for using the voicemail system. Goodbye." [call ends] I'm currently getting the foregoing messages, no matter what day or time I call during their business hours. There is no way to message Nevada DETR through its website or Claimant Self Service (CSS) site for Nevada Unemployment Insurance (NUI). The Southern Nevada office of DETR is the Stanley P. Jones Building at 2800 E St Louis Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89104. The Google Maps listing said it was "Permanently Closed," which was withdrawn after I submitted a correction. The map marker is also positioned incorrectly, across the street, at CCSD Adult Education. The 360° view, as the main photo, was incorrectly facing this building. Another apparent diversionary tactic is a second Nevada DETR listing using the address of the EmployNV Career Hub Comprehensive Center. I drove to this office during their normal business hours. The sign at the parking lot entrance says, "State of Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation." It is built like a fortress and only permits entry for employees. A sign at the locked building entrance indeed says, "Notice: This Building is Not Open to the Public." Another entrance sign provides the phone numbers and times to call for filing a claim and weekly certifications. It also lists addresses and phone numbers for the EmployNV Career Hubs (Job Connect offices) for Central, North Area, and Henderson, as well as the flagship Comprehensive Center (across the street from the College of Southern Nevada). A third entrance sign directs you to their unemployment insurance and job search assistance websites. It also includes phone numbers for Bureau of Disability Adjudication, Appeals office, and Field Audit. There is an intercom (door station) the right side of the entrance, with a sign that says, "Please Press Button for Assistance." I pushed the button, waited for a few moments, and a man finally answered. He asked why I was there. I explained my situation of being unable to contact a representative through the website or phone number. He replied that, "There is no place in the State of Nevada to receive service in person." He said my only options were to use the website or phone number. I replied that I was there because it was impossible to get through by phone. He said to try later in the week, which I did. He also said to try calling a few minutes before 8:00 a.m. He heard that worked. I messaged Nevada DETR to their official email address: detradmin@detr.nv.gov. So far, no reply. I messaged Nevada DETR to their LinkedIn page. So far, no reply I messaged Nevada DETR through their Facebook page and got this automated reply: "Thank you for contacting us. We regret that we can't respond to you personally." It then directs you back to their website. I messaged Nevada DETR through their Instagram profile and got an automated reply that simply provides their phone number, with a link to send a WhatsApp message to it. When I tried that, it says, "The phone number +1 (702) 486-0350 isn't on WhatsApp." On X, it says, "@DetrNevada can't be messaged." It's not possible to message Nevada DETR directly through its YouTube channel, State of Nevada Unemployment Insurance. Furthermore, comments are turned off for its videos. Nevada DETR has not claimed its listing on Yelp, so it is not possible to message them there. I replied to their post on their social media accounts, touting their new online self-service system that they recently launched. It has yet to provide me with any service. I sent an email to 13 Investigates at KTNV Channel 13 News (with CC to Nevada DETR). I sent a letter by certified mail to the current Director of Nevada DETR. In the meantime, back to square one. On the NUI website, in the CSS portal, the status is "active" and "complete" for my claim for unemployment insurance benefits. So far, I have filed four consecutive weekly certifications. All currently have the status of "Pending Issue: Payment for this week is on hold while we work to resolve your eligibility issue." The Action Center currently says that, "There are no actions requiring your attention."
