I had my first tandem jump here on March 22. I chose 18,000 feet (because, why not??) my instructor was Kevin and it was an absolute blast! He made sure I was aware of every step and explained everything to me in a manner that made sense! There were extensive gear checks and he vocalized each time what he was checking. The jump itself was exhilarating! I didn't experience any roller coaster drop feelings. One thing that I did experience that I wasn't aware would happen, but it makes sense now. If your ears are sensitive to pressure changes- the pressure in your ears might be a tad bit uncomfortable. This may be specific to the 18,000 ft, but better to be prepared! I decided to get the video add on and I'm so glad I did! The facility was comfortable and all the staff was so kind!! I've spent a good deal of time on the phone talking to Betsy who has been so wonderful answering all my questions! Fast forward to today. My experience at Skydive Santa Barbara was unexpectedly impactful on my life. It's all I've talked about since that day. I'll be going back to start the process of getting my license. DO NOT GO HERE!!! The person who packed my parachute was not certified and they were explaining him how to pack it. Eventually the parachute failed and we had to open the emergency parachute, wich ALSO opened wrong. Luckily the instructor saved it and landed us safely. He hugged me and told me we should be grateful to still be here. After this terrifying experience I heard from other people that this is far from the first time they let uncertified people pack the parachutes that get used by the visitors. They up charge you by a lot, I even paid extra for a video of the jump, I got told the video would be sent the same day (haven't received a video...). read more

I drove down to Santa Barbara Skydive last Thursday for my birthday. I teamed up with Daniel I had the best time ever. For a 74-year-old man, it was a dream come true. As a little kid, I used to dream about flying. It happened on my birthday. It was such a great experience. Everyone there is a professional, so I felt confident. And I think I did a fantastic job flying. It was nice to get a diploma and a bumper sticker. I got video and pictures to show our kids. Had an experience a few years ago in Temecula and this time I wanted my friend to experience this feeling j had years ago. Looked up places around SB, SLO area and this location was reviewed well across all ratings platforms. A bit more expensive than Temecula, but understandable given the breathtaking views. The name is a bit deceiving as it's located in the Lompoc area, but understand for SEO it's appeals to all towns that are nearest to this part of the coast. Allow yourself time to arrive to location to: settle, sign forms and watch pre boarding vids. Recommend not consuming food or beverages prior. Easy to book. When you arrive the receptionist will upsell you depending on level of jump. Honestly it's worth it for the experience alone. We chose the film not pictures. Felt that we could get our stills from video screenshots. Chris and Cayden were our jump masters. Both were full of energy, hype men, made the experience feel comfortable and trust was established immediately. We overall, for pricing it's worth it! This wasn't a 'face and overcome fear' jump for me. I wasn't afraid at all. I did an 8000' jump with my sisters and mother 35 years ago. This was supposed to be a bonding experience with my daughters. A show them age is just a number (I'm 65). My two youngest didn't want to jump (they are more like their dad) so my oldest and I jumped from 18000'. It was just as awesome as my first jump. I wish I could travel around the country and do it every weekend. My jumpmaster was Randy. I wish I had taken a picture of his face when he got into the van after the jump. It's so apparent he absolutely loves what he does. The whole experience was great. My daughter was a little apprehensive, but she is hooked now. not for fun jumpers. had me drive two hours to tell me their rigger is not working and that he was the only one able to check if my reserve is up to date. That probably could have been mentioned when I called. been to over 30 DZs in the last year this is the first time I've heard that. a monkey could look to see the seal matches the papers. also they wanted the last Dz I've been to to fax my jump history because they don't care about burble and my log wasn't signed... how does one fake transaction history in burble?! We were excited to jump for my brother's 60th birthday then got a call the night before saying we would have to jump separately because only one instructor was available. Not ideal. Then when myself and the instructor, who was strapped to my back, were in the plane I was responsible for opening the plane door. One of the employees later told me the door was tricky to open, and it was. I did not enjoy that part. My brother didn't enjoy it either on his jump. The jump itself was fun. Not as fun as the last jump we did as we were able to jump together the first time and see each other while in the air together. They put me in the harness at the same time as my brother. He jumped first. I was in the tight harness for an hour including jump time. Granted I'm older and not in top physical shape, but I'm not in bad shape either, and the next day had terrible muscle aches from being in the tight harness that long. We paid for the video and photos. They are only able to be viewed on an app you have to down load and are non transferable from that app, so you can't share your video. We were told the pics could only be downloaded on a PC, not phone, but I still haven't been able to access them. The people at Skydive Santa Barbara were lovely. The jump was fantastic! By the way, you're jumping over Lompoc in Santa Barbara County. Very pretty area. Just don't expect to be jumping out of Santa Barbara itself. read more

I had a wonderful experience for the 55th birthday yesterday! Morgan was my instructor. This was my first jump and he really did a great job with easing my fears. He was very professional and paid great attention to safety & details. The check in process was easy and fast going. I chose the 18k ft jump for my first and perhaps my only jump ever. I figured I might as well go big or go home. It was amazing!! The adrenaline rush you get as you disembark from the airplane makes it so you don't even feel how cold it is up there. I wore a light jacket, long sleeve shirt and the jumpsuit. I wouldn't wear the jacket for future jumps. But I did have to keep reminding myself to breath! Also don't eat anything heavy the night before or the morning of. ;) I didn't eat any heavy meals but the butterflies in my tummy had me feeling queasy and quite bloated and uncomfortable. You don't want that bloated uncomfortable feeling. Also I expected a bit more of a jolt as the parachute went up but it was surprisingly a very smooth ride! Enjoy the adventure and bing for the video and pics. You won't regret it! Now I'm excited for my next jump! read more

BEST TIME EVER! It was such an amazing experience skydiving - the thrill is like no other. Everybody seemed very nice when we got there and the staff is great. Randy was my instructor and he was very cool and a nice guy. I felt very safe and he seemed very experienced. The pictures and videos turned out great too! The only reason why I give 4 stars is because it was a bit rushed since everyone was already geared up and I was waiting for Randy. He gave me very quick instructions and we rushed to the plane as everyone was already sitting in the plane. It was my very first time so a little more instruction would be nice. But the plane ride was very reassuring and he was very conversational and keeping me updated with where we are and how high up we were and the whole process. My mom and I did an 18,000 ft couple weeks ago. Skydiving for the first time. I mean I'm borderline nuts but my mother has bigger b**** than 90% of men I've met in my life.. got side-tracked.. moving on, here's my honest review: 1. The 90 second free fall is so worth it. That's life. That's how you're in an illusion of flying and not falling cause you're so high and moving down so fast (120 mph) that you don't feel anything except pure joy. I suppose that's how it feels to be high? Haven't been high before so can't tell you for sure but anyways that's another story for another day. If you're on the fence about which package to choose go as high as you can. It'll be worth it. 2. The guys are really nice, friendly and professional. You'll be sitting in pretty awkward positions in the plane but I didn't feel weird nor uncomfortable which was a plus cause you're already kinda peeing your pants so no need for extra awkwardness. 3. Don't think they do a good job in taking photos up there. So if you don't get the video you will have a 50-50 chance of not getting good pics. Some guys are better than the others but that's the risk you'll be taking.. get both the photos and video. 4. I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 because of one provision they have in their contract. They ask you to consent of using your photos in their marketing. That's against California privacy laws. I refused to put my initials next to it and the receptionist was like the reason they have it there is because you may be in the background of someone else's photo or video so they want to make sure they have your consent. Look I'm a full time chemical engineer and I'm in law school part-time - translation: I'm not dumb. California has enacted many consumer protection privacy laws in the past few years and this year and NO ONE can force you to use your info or pictures anywhere. That's illegal and they can be sued for it. I told the receptionist what the provision says is not the same as what she says and she just stared at me - sigh... it's not her fault... anyways I was with my mom and didn't want to be a party pooper cause she was excited like a little kid getting ice cream so I signed it but told her to let their attorneys know to change it - which I highly doubt she will. I was going JUST to gift my husband a skydiver trip and as we were completing the paperwork, the girl helping us explained to me that with the jump there is no "spinning, falling feeling, roller coaster feeling. It's completely peaceful and more calm than you would think." So, me hating roller coasters, was down after that! And she was 100000% right!! No falling feeling, roller coaster feel, no spinning, it was the most peaceful thing I've ever done. And I can't wait to go again. After 5 years of asking my fiancé to skydive with me I finally convinced him for our 5 year anniversary. The experience was way better than I ever could have imagined. Everyone that works here is super friendly and lively from the receptionist to the skydive masters. We opted for the 13,000 which was the perfect way not to spend too much but also get the full experience and videos for each of us. At 8,000 you only get 15 seconds of free fall whereas at 13,000 you get 45 seconds. I dove with Zach and my fiancé dove with David. Both were awesome guys with lots of experience and great attitudes. They love what they do and it was fun getting to meet them and learn about the sky diving world. "Takes a special kind of person to voluntarily hurl the self out of a plane multiple times a day" as Zach said. We took the smaller plane up which takes longer to get to jump altitude which I liked because more bang for your buck! The dive itself was awesome. Before you know it you're at terminal velocity and feeling like a bird floating through the wind. Once the parachute is pulled they let us steer it around and then took us for some whirlies on the way down. I'll never forget the feeling of free fall. It was magical. I wish I could free fall forever. I loved these guys so much! It was a fantastic experience and I recommend it to any and everybody. DO IT!!! read more

I'm still reeling in excitement, adrenaline, and "holy **** did I actually just DO that??" from yesterday. If you haven't done it, you can't quite explain it to anyone else. It's an insane mix of exciting, terrifying, exhilarating, and adrenaline. This was a Valentine's Day gift to myself after a pretty brutal breakup. I love symbolic gestures, and jumping out of a plane seemed like the best way to catapult myself into a new chapter. There's nothing like hurling yourself towards the ground with the air rushing up at you to make all your problems seem trivial. Troy was my instructor and he was great. He gave clear instructions and his positive energy helped put me at ease. I didn't have any friends with me, so the support was needed! As this was my first jump, I wanted it to be as mild as possible. In addition to picking the smallest (8k) jump, I also requested we don't do anything crazy. I didn't want to drive or spin, just that insane freefall and a gentle descent upon chute deploy. Although I only paid for photo, he also recorded video and I did end up adding that bit at the end. DEFINITELY get both if you can, I've watched my video about 10 times since the jump just to relive the experience! As a first time jumper I will say, the scariest part IS the plane ride, or perhaps watching the person directly in front of you fall first. After that, adrenaline takes over and you have to just try to take it all in before it's over. I just kept reminding myself to trust that Troy would get me down safe, and enjoy the ride. Once the freefall ended I felt perfectly secure just floating above the SoCal countryside and absorbing all the gorgeous views as we gently descended to the ground. If you're fearing the freefall the most, I suggest the 8k jump, as it's the least amount of falling time with a solid amount of floating. Also, dress warmer than you think you need to. It was 60 degrees on the ground so I thought a sweatshirt would suffice, and I found myself wishing I'd worn another layer and gloves! As for COVID safety--you ARE taking a risk, as you're strapped to another person and a mask obviously won't stay on in the air. I will say that they kept as safe as possible considering the activity! Masks required during any inside segments, with proper distancing encouraged and hand sanitizer available everywhere. The one star deduction is just because of some disorganization on the part of the business due to the well-meaning attempt to make sure I got my jump on time. Basically, I showed up early because my scheduled jump later in the day would have less than ideal conditions and it was more likely I could make the jump at the earlier time (they called me the night before to make sure this was okay). Once there, I was rushed to an even earlier group who was also doing the 8k jump, meaning I missed 90% of the training video (all I got was the "you agree you could die and it's not our fault" segment... eep!) and was pretty clueless as I was suiting up. Thankfully, Troy made up for it by giving me clear directions, but I did kind of feel like I was going in totally unprepared and it added to the nervousness. I appreciate they did what they could do get me to jump on time, but for a first time jumper I would have appreciated someone going through the parts I missed while waiting in the hangar. I'm happy I did this bucket list item! I'm tempted to do it again someday. read more

One of my amazing life experiences. This is a place I think we should all visit. Priced fairly for this market. Most of the time will be spent preparing, warning and basically signing your life away. Casey was my tandem guide and I felt totally confident in his hands. Experienced and very pleasant personality. The jump itself goes very quick from piling in the plane with a bunch of random strangers to the actual jump. For the record you all get up close and personal so no time for feeling shy! We jumped on a beautiful day so the view and weather were both amazing. Casey was great to point out all the sights and even let me fly the parachute on the way down. I would do it again in a heart beat. My only criticism is this place needs a bit of organization and communication. Not much of that going on for first timers. read more

Brought them business with multiple people. They refused to use the donations, changed the price around, completely manipulated the entire situation and tried to say that I was not upfront after we had very clear multiple conversations prior to booking! Skydive Santa Barbara still reigns supreme in my thrill, yet zen activities. After the skies cleared a bit from some early fog, I was set up into the day's queue. It took a few hours of waiting (understandably) while the 9am groups caught up and headed to the sky. I was booked for 11am, and ended up going at about 1pm-ish. I did get to witness a rocket launch while waiting, which was pretty neat, so the nerd in me was already set. When it came time, I had the pleasure of being paired up with Sean. He easily made my second jump more memorable than the first, and made sure I was comfortable and safe throughout the entire experience beginning to end. I cannot say enough good things about Skydive Santa Barbara and will continue to return, and hopefully convince more friends to join me! read more

We had the absolute best time of our lives! The staff and crew were one of kind!! What a joy!!!

Absolutely must-do experience; if you're on the fence about going, just go. Allocate at least 4-5 hours though; it's not as easy as just showing up and jumping -- there's a ~30-min training video you have to watch, sign waivers, etc., and then you are taken over the main hangar to wait. If you're over 200 lbs, you have to pay extra -- $1 per pound. And unfortunately you can't bring your own GoPro so your only option is to pay for their photo/video package. The instructor I had (Mark) was really nice, and I recommend him to anyone. After your jump, they give you a little certificate with a coupon on the back for the next jump. read more

Do not jump here. Worst experience, and we didn't even get to go in a plane. They canceled our group of 6 back in May because the fog was too thick (even though that's typical for the coast), and they rescheduled our date 3 months later in July. During that span of time, unfortunately, one of our party has fallen ill and the doctor won't let them jump out of a plane. However, this company has no problem stealing $300 in deposits they won't refund because we "didn't cancel the reservation 3 days before the original date in May (which the company canceled for us due to weather)." This skydiving company is a scam profiting from theft, and justifying it even when THEY originally canceled our booking. I will hopefully be going skydiving soon, but not with this company! read more

What an experience of a lifetime! Skydiving has always been on my checklist, but I never followed through with it until recently. I was spending the weekend in SLO/Paso Robles for a friend's birthday and we decided to surprise the birthday girl with a group skydiving event here. It's a $50 deposit per person for a reservation. Walk-ins are accepted if they have space available. Prepare to stay for half a day for the entire event. Upon checking in, you'll watch a waiver video and sign waiver papers. You'll then pay the remaining balance. We decided to go with The Standard Jump (13k feet, 60 seconds of free fall). I think it's a good option for first timers. It's $169 + $69 for optional photo OR video or $99 for photo AND video. I opted for the video package add-on. I mean, if you're jumping out of a plane that high up in the air, why wouldn't you record it? Afterwards, you'll watch a training video, meet your instructor (everyone is paired with their own tandem buddy) and get suited up. After that, you're playing the waiting game until it's time to board the airplane. It wasn't until our plane took off the ground that everything started to hit me. I was terrified and starting to rethink if I wanted to do this. My instructor and friends were encouraging and made me feel at ease. Slowly, I started brushing off my fears. As we were approaching our sky diving spot, my instructor made final adjustments and reviewed our jump procedures. Next thing I knew, he scooted me to the edge of the exit way and BAM, I went flying in the air screaming for my life. I had a huge rush adrenaline and felt a bit disoriented. After the free fall, my instructor deployed our parachute and we were gliding in the air. It was very calming as I was enjoying the beautiful views of the Central Coast. I was a bit nervous about the landing, but it turned out to be seamless. Overall, I had a great ride. Would do it again, but somewhere new. read more
