The ratings on Yelp say everything you need to know. There's a max weight of 230 lbs and tied up shoes are a requirement. If you have long hair, you'll need to tie that up too. Most wear athletic clothes but you can wear whatever that is comfortable for you. Just know that you'll be falling over 100 mph at 13k feet for about 40 seconds until they deploy the chute which lasts about 4 minutes. Although, the timing is dependent on your weight (heavier = faster, lighter = slower). Larry was my brother's instructor and Chris was mine. They were awesome. For me, sky diving was a meditative experience and it seems like it'd be great for those who want to meditate but don't know how to sit still. I'm glad I was finally able to jump out of a plane and feel the wondrous force of gravity. If it wasn't so expensive, I'd do it all the time. read more

Holy crap! Let me tell ya, I never thought for a second I would jump out of a plane but here we are. Bachelor Party Shenanigans. Skydive San Diego was about as good of a first experience as you could ask for. First off, our crew of seven was thinking we'd get separated into at least two different planes but they were able to accommodate all of us onto a single plane which was great! Each of our tandem buddies were personable and knowledgeable (my guy has been tandem jumping since '95). We started off with several instructional monologues on the ground from multiple ground crew members. Then we suited up and got the instructions again before boarding the plane. The flight up wasn't too bad considering how cramped and small the plane was. Once at jumping height, our tandem buddies walked us through every step of the way. There's just nothing like jumping out of a plane for the first time. It's surreal. And I was made very comfortable the entire process up until touching down on the ground. I'm really glad we got to experience this and will definitely love to do it again. P.S. don't expect your tandem Buddy to stick around too long after landing because they service flights back to back to back all day. They make sure you're good to go and take off to prepare for their next jump. read more

This was such an extraordinary experience! The staff and instructors were very friendly, fun and just overall helpful throughout. The environment was very welcoming and accommodating especially for my group of friends who came to support me. There was plenty of space to lounge and great view for landing which I'm thankful for since it enabled my friends to get great footage of the experience! Skydiving was something that had been on my to-do list for a while and Sky Dive San Diego was a great place to make it happen. The instructors were all great from what I could tell, particular Greg who was with me. Besides the gigantic waiver at the beginning, the whole experience feels relaxed and puts anxious minds at ease. Getting reservation online is easy. We showed up at our time, did the waivers on self serve tablets and then worked with the very nice front desk staff to add video packages and finalize everything. Once checked in, they have a digital queueing system displayed outside so you know how long roughly you'll need to wait, though for us we got pushed into an earlier flight and didn't really have to wait much. The instructors came out to the waiting area and found us personally to meet and go over everything before the flight then you just hangout until the plane is ready. The jump was fun and I recommend the experience to anyone who gets a chance. The only downsides are it doesn't last very long and the parachute opening was a bit painful on our thighs. You land, they bring you a cute certificate, and you leave. There's a little container for gratuities and comments if you want. Video packages are a third party company, and perhaps the only thing I was a little annoyed with. They tell you it should be available a few hours after, but ours took like 21 hours. The automated editing wasn't great and I suspect many people's will be shakier and with less face time than the example shown in the office. read more

I was afraid to fly, have not flown since 2001 and had a fear of heights when I decided it was time to face my fear. My first jump was the end of June, now have jumped 3 times in about two months. Bobo was my first instructor and he is amazing. He has great energy, made me feel safe and the experience less scary. He was not working during my 2nd jump, James was my instructor who was also great, made me feel safe. I jumped yesterday for the 3rd time with Bobo again. What a rush! Great service, clean atmosphere and super fun experience. I went here for my bday and had 4 friends come with. We were scheduled for Saturday but due to winds it was cancelled after waiting 3 hours. I was bummed but we rescheduled for the next day and it was nice because we received text messages letting us know if our time was delayed. We were able to jump the next day and it was unforgettable! We all had awesome instructors, I had Dalton and he was great! Answered app my questions and double checked to see if I was strapped right. I was nervous at first but I did it! The best part was the soaring for me! I had a little hard time breathing right but it was still amazing. The view was beautiful and perfect because it was almost sunset. 5/5 on my skydiving experience: I just completed my first skydiving experience. Dan Bridges was my tandem instructor and he did an AMAZING job helping alleviate my fear. Especially once out of the plane, I felt so safe. Thank you, Dan the man!! I took off one star due to being told it would be a 2-3 hour long experience. After waiting several hours, we were told that they were operating just one plane so times would take longer. What was NOT communicated was that it would take a full 5 hours until we were completed. I wish we had known because we were starving by the time we were done and the snacks at this business were really limited. Also, I had another event scheduled at 4pm, which I ended up being an hour and a half late too. Other than that, it really was an amazing experience. I can't talk enough about this experience. I just went yesterday with my sister and we are already dying to go back. Upon checking in we were gifted with free shirts because we both were both celebrating our recent birthdays. The place itself was just nice and welcoming and relaxing and there wasn't a person I met that I didn't just love. Everyone was so helpful and honestly people were so funny. Everyone was making jokes. I felt so safe and happy this entire experience. The plane right up was beautiful and they were all showing us things through the windows like how you can see big bear mountains and Mexico and the ocean. When it came to jumping they made it so exciting and they go so out of their way to make you feel special. The jump itself was a crazy rush I'll never forget and because of the people I felt excited instead of scared. I had always wanted to go skydiving since my twenties, and was excited for a chance to finally go in my fifties. My main concern was landing hard on these knees, but after watching videos and reading reviews, thought what the hell. If I don't go now, I probably never will. My wonderful niece and I finally went up yesterday - lucky for us it was clear, warm, and sunny. We boarded what appeared to be a plane that used to smuggle drugs in the 60's, and took off. There were about 15 passengers, my niece and I being the only tandem jumpers. We climbed to 13,000 feet, the jump door opened, and I watched as one by one, the single divers jumped out. There was one woman among them, and I when I saw her exit the plane, I thought, okay I can do this. Then it was our turn. Buckled tightly to my instructor, I was surprised that it was only the first millisecond after my feet left the solid platform of the plane that I felt my stomach in my throat. But soon as we turned to fall backwards and saw the plane quickly fading from view, I surrendered to the experience. For one minute, we just fell through the air. Did some cool spins. Then the chute deployed, and I was able to take in where I was. To clearly see the sparkling ocean, the majestic mountains, the expansive city, and our neighboring Mexico with nothing but air surrounding my instructor and I, was what I imagine most people have when describing a religious experience. Were the straps around my legs uncomfortable when the chute deployed? Yes. But who cares? An insignificant price to pay for an unforgettable 9 minutes of my life. Instructor Dalton, a complete stranger, held my life in his hands that day. Old hat probably for him, but he safely delivered me to the ground. Quite softly I should say. Of which my knees and I are eternally grateful. Just one of thousands of jumps for him, it meant the world to me. read more

Sky diving has been in my bucket list for years!!! So I signed my sis and hub up but chickened out the night before. But I was brave enough to go along to watch them drop out of the sky and guess what? I ended doing it after watching everyone come in flying like Superman. Feeling like the bomb thinking I was going to feel like supergirl up there too. Well it didn't quite end that way. After getting inside a rickety plane I immediately regretted my decision. I was trying so hard to stay calm and collected but deep inside I was ready to pee my pants the minute the plane took off. It was exhilarating alright... just too much for my stomach to handle. I got queasy halfway down and fought so hard not to puke all over myself and my instructor. Don't get me wrong... the whole process was seamless, staff were very friendly and helpful. The 20 min instruction was short and sweet. Everything you have to know about safety is given before you get strapped in. My instructor was super cool and has probably been skydiving since he was 2. Would I do this again... maybe. If I didn't have a weak stomach I sure would. But puking my guts out all the way back to the hotel and having vertigo the rest of the day is not worth it for me. read more

Went skydiving with some friends and my spouse. It was all fun until we noticed the guy that my spouse was paired with was giving a snobby impression. That guy didnt even make it as fun for her compared to the guys we got paired up with. He barely communicated with her during the jump like our guys did with us. My spouse always trys to not come across people like that so the guys name wasn't remembered. When it comes to these type of activities I feel it's always best to make sure the person youre paired with makes you feel as comfortable as possible. Especially if you're skydiving geez. Wish we spoken up right away, but shame on the employee. He should have known better. Check in was easy and pretty quick. The wait time between check in and actually getting on the plane was about 2 hours - I wasn't expecting such a long wait time but any irritation quickly went away after meeting my instructor Greg. He sat and talked with my boyfriend and I for about 20-30 minutes. He really took the time to gauge how I was feeling and made me feel SO comfortable. I am the type of person to let fear stop me from doing things out of my comfort zone. For reference, I had a panic attack half way down a mountain while snowboarding, quit and walked the rest of the way down. During my skydiving experience I never once had a thought in my head that I was going to quit or turn back because I felt so comfortable with Greg and James. They were both AMAZING! Make sure you get the refund insurance. Or better yet go to another company. Ridiculous they advertise no hidden fees but will keep your money if they decide to cancel on you. Plain and simple, if you like thrill seeking activity and like being scared out of your mind (in a good way) than this is for you! Wanted to skydive for years and I finally got it done and so glad I did! Hooked for life now and want to do it again! I got in at 12 noon and checked in on the tablets (waivers) they have out for jumpers. Its long so take your time and do it right or you have to do it all over. Then you pay your fee and get your jump numbers and counter. Then you go outside and watch prior jumpers do their thing before your plane is called up to get a brief training (10 minutes) and then harness fitting. (10 minutes). You are then paired with a tandem pro jumper and you just sit around and chill until your plane (group) is called to walk down to the holding tent. When the group before you is down and the plane is ready for you, you make "the walk" to the plane and board up. Takes about 10 minutes to climb to 13k feet with the group inside and its tight in the plane but your only in it for a short time so no worry. I did the gopro video as well so my tandem pro was filming me in and out the entire time from the ground all the way till we hit the ground and I cannot wait to see the live footage!! You pair up and latch up just minutes before jumping out the plane door and that is the moment of pure rush when you look out the door and look down and see how fast the prior pair drops! When you jump on que you fall FAST! Way more than I thought from what you see on TV! The wind while falling is louder than I thought as well but its bearable. You get goggles from the jumper and I see why now! You fall for about 60 seconds and then float down for about 4-5 minutes by parachute and the tandem pro spin circles and stuff while coming down so even thats cool stuff. The experience was surreal let me say that much! Never once felt unsafe or unsure of the process. Had a great time, would do it again and would suggest anyone try this just once. Scott was my jumper and he was cool shit plain and simple. It was like his 18,622 jump if I recall right.....guy has some experience! read more
