Yesterday our group of 8 jumped with Skydive Pepperell as a fundraiser for the Alzheimer association. What an experience!!! They where awesome, made us newbies comfortable and made our whole experience memorable. I would highly recommend them! I jumped with Matty and he was f***ing awesome. He was talking with me the whole way up and down which helped get over any last minute nerves. He truly topped my whole experience. Thank you the Skydive Pepperell team for everything!

This was my first skydiving experience and I loved it. After buying a groupon and making reservations we showed up on a sunny, but cool morning with the understanding that it might be our last day being alive cause we were preparing to jump out of a friggin plane. Would have been an awesome way to go out though. After checking in there is a small wait before people get called into the Waiver Room. Basically you watch a 30min video about the risk of splatting into a bunch of trees and telling you that you are signing your life away for a broad range of situations from slipping on a banana peel to your chute not opening. This is all scary but you you will understand why it has to be done. Gotta mitigate that risk of lawsuits. It is still a business. Once your name is called they do a great job in getting you set up and dressed in some neon bright jumpsuits I always say, "If It Isn't Neon It Shouldn't Be On". And I must admit, kind of weird having a dude strapped to my back. I know some of people who might get turned on by that sort of thing, but I would have much rather preferred a hot chick instructor with some boobies pressed up against me. Still a mad fun time jumping either way. Kieth had done over 5,000 jumps so obviously he know what he was doing. Just stay positive and be prepared to feel like you are flying and it wont be scary at all!!! I ended up paying for the video package (Extra $130) to have someone film me and take pics. Obviously, sounds expensive but you get awesome footage of you free-falling mid air. The production quality is pretty sweet as well. FB friend me if you want to see it. When you arrive, you must prepare to wait for a while. They aim to accommodate everyone but sometimes weather conditions don't hold up. It probably isn't the smartest idea to jump out of a plane with strong wind gusts or lightning present. I suggest bringing some food (they also have a small cafe) or other activities to do while waiting with your groups. There are also a ton of dogs on site that make the wait much more tolerable. Toby is adorable. You will know which pup that is the second you get there. Had such a great experience with this and will now be going again in Africa this summer. Now I just want to jump out of and off of things.

8 of us did our first tandem skydive this past Sunday! I cannot say how amazing the experience was!! Everyone who works here are very professional and friendly. Our appointment time was 11am and while on our way there, I got a phone call from pepperell skydive. They said the wind has picked up and we might not be able to go!!! That's definitely a no-no I'd been feeling anxiety the whole week and I cannot wait any longer. We decided to go to wait out and see if the wind will die down! Lo and behold, the wind did died down and we were the last two planes to depart for the day!!! The moral of the story is patience isss a virtue! My instructor was Keith and he is amazing and funny! Had a blast and will definitely do it again!! Here's the skydiving video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8s0vqDNcFI

Great experience! These guys run a very tight ship! I felt safe, even after being scared half to death by all the initial paperwork! My instructor, Shawn (Sean? sp?) Was freaking amazing! I had a mild freak out in the plane, and he calmed me right down. The jump out of a plane and the free fall were spectacular!!! The only thing that surprised me was nausea that set in right after the parachute deployed. I fought real hard not to puke all over my wonderful instructor! Thank God I didn't! Overall awesome experience! My husband and I had a blast, and both got the videographer as well. So glad we did! The video and photos are priceless!!!

However, although they have done this thousands of times, they were the furthest thing from cocky and were talking about how they always have more to learn. I love that they didn't act like they knew everything and talked us through the entire process. I did this for my 23rd birthday and it was the best birthday I've had yet. Just do your thing: chill, savor the moment, and maybe take a deep breath or two.' It's like he knew I had a PhD in overthinking because I needed to hear that reassurance! So, we leaped from the plane, and I was looking down at the ground, feeling like I wanted to hug it! You heard that right, folks - I wanted to bear-hug the Earth from 14,000 feet up. A new level of love for our planet! On the way down under the parachute, Damien and I casually chatted about my career plans and his kids' future skydiving adventures. My dad had taken my son ziplining 2 weeks prior and after that amazing day he said, "How would Jacob feel about jumping out of an airplane?" I talked it over with Jacob and he was excited to go do anything Papa wanted to do. Unfortunately, age requirements leave him waiting 4 more years for his first jump, and I plan on taking him for his 18th bday. (If he still wants to go.) I thought to myself, Why does my dad want to do all the fun stuff with Jacob?! So I said, "Whats the matter, you don't want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane with a 40 year old?" The next message I got was, "Thursday morning, 10am, Mom and I will meet you at The Boston Skydive Center." After nervously reading through and signing all the forms online, we were good to go. When we arrived the weather was damn near perfect. Everyone who works there was so amazing. Checking in was super easy. They were extremely thorough with the instructions and made sure you felt safe and educated about skydiving every step of the way. On the walk to the airplane we did a little pre interview and went over the events that were about to take place one last time. Then, with a high five and thumbs up we were on the plane. The views while getting up to altitude were absolutely beautiful. It was such a peaceful ride. Getting ready to actually jump out of the plane was terrifying, but what are you really gonna do when you're already halfway out of the plane?? JUMP!!! It was the most insane feeling I've ever experienced. The views were even more breathtaking, and from up there, the world looked perfect. We jumped with two of the best, Boris and Ratin. Couldn't have asked for two better guys. (For multiple reasons ) The videos and still pictures they got were phenomenal and I am so impressed that they can video like that, multiple times a day, while jumping out of a plane when I could barely keep my eyes open from the wind. A core memory was made that day, not only from the jump with my dad, but also from seeing his video and the pure, whole hearted happiness that was written all over his face. Made my heart smile. Our host boasted over 4000 duck boat tours, and I certainly didn't question his knowledge of Boston's history. However, I wish we heard more of the history he was clearly an expert on. Most of what I remember from the tour is him going on with personal anecdotes, telling stories that sounded made up, and interacting with a large family on board. I'm sure that family had a memorable and special experience, but for everyone on the other end of the many, many times he stopped to talk and joke with that group, we felt like outsiders. We felt downright ignored a couple times- once he asked if anyone was celebrating anything, I raised my hand to say it was my fiancé's birthday, but he once again fixated on the group he had a report with. The same thing happened when he allowed a group to drive the boat on the river, we volunteered but no use. For the steep price, I just think there are better ways to learn the history and see the city. However, the sunset view of the river is pretty.

The site was purchased by Kitty Hawk Kites of North Carolina last summer with the passing of the previous owner, and the new owners have done a great job with improving the hangar/shop area and making it a welcoming place for prospective pilots. Although I can only speak to the paragliding program, Morningside also teaches hang gliding and provides tandem hang gliding flights using an ultralight aircraft for towing. They are in the process of installing zip lines and appear to have other activities planned in the near future as well (including kayaking, laser tag, etc.). The training area for both hang gliders and paragliders consists of a large hill approximately 450 feet high, though training is primarily conducted on the lower portion, up to around 150 feet (with progressively higher flights as you improve). The two paragliding instructors, Heath and Joe, are excellent instructors with lots of experience, and are effective teachers. They stress the importance of safety and good technique, which is extremely important in a sport such as this. Lessons start right around 9:00am, and vary considerably in length based on the weather; strong wind and turbulent conditions are unsafe to fly in, especially for beginners, so often there will be a long lunch break, with lessons resumed later in the day after the peak heating (which can cause turbulence) is over. I would highly recommend the P1 program (6 lessons) to anybody who is seriously interested in learning to paraglide... though note that a P1 rating is a beginning rating and you are still required to fly under the supervision of an instructor after obtaining it, so you'll probably want to pursue further instruction after that. Morningside does not list higher ratings on their website, but the instructors seem to be happy to work with you on them once you have completed the P1 (there are some additional costs and you are typically expected to have purchased your own gear at that point). Overall, it's a great experience that seems to be getting even better with time, and a beautiful location; if you're nearby or going to be in the area for an extended time, it's a great place to visit and experience flight in a way that relatively few people ever do.
