The way that Google Maps directed us, we came around the perimeter of the sports facilities, not knowing where the parking for the stadium would be, but following the light standards until we found it. The parking lot in that area is large, with solar carport-type covers. Given how hot and sunny it gets there, this is a great idea. It was 100 degrees at 4:00 for game time. In an interesting arrangement, West Ranch High School's Wildcats use the stadium as their "home" venue, as their own field doesn't have light stanchions. Wish we'd realized that before driving to West Ranch first. By the time we got over to Valencia High, I was feeling frazzled about missing the start of the game. The parent boosters selling / taking tickets were very friendly and gracious. As we made our way to the visitors side we passed the snack bar. Though the game was underway, they weren't ready to sell anything. Even a frozen lemonade wasn't happening. Later, at halftime, dear hubby went over and scored $5 cheeseburgers for us that weren't half bad. The venue has a gorgeous setting, up on a rise so that the view beyond is of the mountains separating the Santa Clarita Valley from the San Fernando Valley. There was a suggestion of a vista of Mt. Diablo in Contra Costa County up north that had me nostalgic for my original hometown. I'd say the visitors side has the best view, actually.

SCVi saved my son's school career. This is a truly remarkable place, where the instructors WANT to…read morebe there and the kids come first - not faculty. Students and their families are treated with respect and kindness and, above all, with trust. Such a refreshing, reaffirming environment that allows young people to develop and thrive - not crush their natural curiosity and imagination with relentless messages on conformity. And, amazingly, this public charter school with an incredible curriculum is free! Transferring from a nightmare experience in 7th grade at Rio Norte - where everything is structured to the teacher's benefit, the volume of 'busy work' worksheets assigned daily is mind-numbing, and the default attitude is one of distrust - to the amazing project-based learning and integrated curriculum of SCVi was truly the answer to my prayers for my thoughtful, intelligent son. He had left elementary school as a confident, straight A student who benefited from the school's GATE program for 3 years, but after 1 year at Rio Norte Jr High, being brow-beaten and told by his teachers he was just lazy and not as smart as he thought, his spirit was crushed and he had become hopeless about school. SCVi turned all that around. The transition was a little rocky for him, as he was leaving his friends behind, but the staff and fellow students at SCVi worked hard at making him feel welcome and his contributions were once again valued. By the end of 8th grade, his confidence had returned, as well as his grades, and he'd even stepped into a leadership role in the epic Civil War Re-Enactment capstone project that is a tradition at SCVi. Without SCVi, the path for my gifted 13 year old son could have turned out very badly indeed. He's continued to develop and thrive there through high school, benefited from IB classes and theater, and will graduate next month as a poised, confident young man with broad knowledge and critical life skills. What parent could ask for more for their child? From the bottom of my heart, thank you SCVi!

Horrible school if you want to learn and socialize. Most people already have friend groups, and…read moredon't socialize with new students. Also, the school has a major bullying problem that they have covered up for a while now and only did the bare minimum if pushed to do. If you are not in the main popular friend group, you most likely cant talk to anyone. You'll also most likely be bullied if you don't like whatever the popular kids like, and people always beat each other up, and they do the most minimal punishments. I heard someone who caused a ton of people to bully someone else only got 1 day of ISS for doing that. So yea, i totally recommend not going here

I have seen so many lives changed by this school. Not just changed, but even saved. Regardless of…read moreall of that, the teachers here go above and beyond to make sure everyone graduates, every other school in the district has teachers who literally do not lose any sleep over if you fail or not, but bowman is different. the teachers here CARE, they truly love their jobs and their students. I can't believe anyone could leave a bad review, I am in a family where my cousin, her husband, her son and daughter, her older brother and me all had an amazing experience at bowman. RIP HEIDI. I will never forget how much it changed me to get to a school where the principal knew me by name, greeted me everytime she saw me, everyone was on my side. Canyon i would get saturday school for my bra strap showing, i hated school there, the teachers were terrible and didnt care. hart was less of a joke, but nothing comparable to the outstanding experience i had at bowman. I always sucked at math, or so i thought, that was until i met JENNY who was able to incentivize me by letting me pick a plush out if i got an A on my test. I was so happy to get those pokemon plush, jenny if you are reading this, seriously changed my life lol. I had an F in math every year until jenny would sit with me and help me understand it in my own way, she made me feel like-- she taught me that i wasn't bad at math and that really helped my confidence. she taught me all the math no one ever explained to me. Jamie the History teacher could see that i was smart and curious about history and would let me ask as many questions as i needed and would let us all give our opinons on what we were being taught, made us feel heard and seen. teachers at other schools just don't have the time for that. At Bowman, everyone mixes together and it makes everyone a better person. The teachers get 10 stars, 11 stars. Stacey, Jamie, Cheryl, Mike, Old Mike, Jenny, I don't know if all of them are still there but wow. Their councilors are also incredible, i got in trouble alllllllll the time at my old school but the administration at bowman was so cool that i didnt even want to let them down. I really behaved there and that is not usual for someone like me. They really earned my respect, which is super important for teens who are too special or too weird or too smart for this town. Everything seemed like a joke until i came to bowman
