You walk in and it is gorgeous with the most calming music playing while you get your nails/toes done. Their waiting area is super cute and their prices are super affordable. Starting price for a pedi is $33+. The sweet girl who did my pedi today was super gentle and did an amazing job. From the way she massaged my leg to how she brushed and cut my nails. Super relaxing. I was long overdue for my pedicure and I'm glad to have chosen sky nails today! read more

1. They are the only mail bar in the area that I know of that offers scheduling online which was great! 2. Walked in and was able to start my pedicure immediately - no waiting! 3. Technician gave a great massage! Cons: 1. Wish their were more regular mail polish colors - seemed to be a lot of shades or the same blues and purples. 2. So I literally just left there and I will say I'm not a confrontational person. So I don't make a fuss in person but maybe I needed to. I get to the salon and pick out my colors and they asked me what I wanted. I told the lady I wanted glitter ombré on my toes and fingernails. She shows me the options and I told her again the pedicure with glitter ombré and the dip glitter ombré. She says ok and starts to get to work on my toes. She's asks me again what I wanted and I told her again glitter ombré and pointed to the colors and option I wanted. I then get told that they don't do glitter ombré on feet but they can do two colors like one on my big toe on on my other toes. I said oh well I guess I'll look for another color then and the lady starts painting my toes with the red color! I thought whatever not a bad color but again the male I'm assuming owner walks over because I'm assuming he can see I'm almost in tears, he goes here I try ombré on toes and he paints it and it looks awful so I said just paint the whole nail with glitter then. Next it's time for my dip nails so I'm very flustered at the moment because I get told they can't do this ombré look of mixing red and blue glitter so I'm looking for something to do instead. I finally just picked basic pinks which is fine. So next I go to get my fingers done he did a good job not grinding much off my nail which I appreciate. However as I am looking at it it's just a bad job I have my real nails showing on my sides. I also have the polish all over my skin. I go to pay and the guy that checks me out says oh it's your first time here you get 10% off I'm thinking oh good at least I won't pay full price for this hack job. I fill out my information and as I'm paying he hands me a card that says 10%off next appointment! I'm like oh so I paid the amount asked for. I did not leave a tip because I was upset that they didn't tell me in the first place that they couldn't do glitter ombré on feet. I also never got offered a beverage or even short conversations. I don't care if you don't want to talk while working but at the very least ask me how I'm doing and what I had plans for doing my nails, at t. I wanted to look good for my anniversary vacation coming up Monday night. I'm so disappointed in how my nails look. I think I will just buy products to do dip at home and save myself. Since I can't comment to the reply I'll post it here. I told you twice what I wanted you didn't listen to me. I told you I wanted a different color but painted the color I didn't want. I was there almost 2 hours and didn't have time to get my nails redone. I wanted my nails done for a trip I didn't have another 2 plus hours to get everything redone poorly. I have been going here exclusively for the past year or so. I like the cleanliness, as well as the quality of the work done for the price. It's close to my house and the people for the most part seem happy with their jobs and take pride in their work. My last visit yesterday, however, left me disappointed. As this place tends to get busy, I arrived promptly at 9am when they opened. There were 2 people who apparently had never opened before, as they had some difficulty figuring out where the lights were and how to turn them on. While this is completely understandable, it was the catalyst for a series of unfortunate events that led to this review. The young man who was opening was also trying to get me rolling for a pedicure. I let him know that I was happy to wait until either 1) more employees arrived, or 2) until opening was complete, as I was not in a hurry. He assured me that it was fine and he would take care of me. He got the water going, but didn't add any of the salts to the water. I thought this was a pretty minor oversight and in light of his current difficulty decided to let it go. Unfortunately, it sort of went downhill from there: -Not all my nails were trimmed, and a couple were cut at a strange angle. I was not asked if I would like them shorter, which has up to this point always happened. -The nails were not buffed prior to polish application -The scoopy thing they use to clean under the nail (gross but necessary!) never got used -There was no massage with the gel lotion (like, literally none, just covered with the towel -Only one coat of polish was applied, and the nail is quite visible. I get this color all the time and it has never been transparent. Because it's so thin, it chipped immediately later that afternoon, which has never happened before with all the visits I have had there. While the initial difficulties of trying to get the place opened started the issues, the fact that they were immediately slammed with customers caused my guy to cut corners and rush through the process, which is disappointing. I do not feel as though the usual high standards were upheld. To my own detriment, I didn't speak up because by then it was so busy in there I did not want to make a scene. What I would like is to offer Sky Nails the opportunity to make this right by fixing the nail trim and polish. I can live without the massage, though the relaxation piece is one of the main reasons I go. Should they make an effort to put this right I will edit my review accordingly. read more

I went to this salon to get an acrylic fill with gel polish. From the beginning it was bad. I waited 25 minutes after my appointment to be started. Then once the service had begun the tech burned me with the grinder, causing me to bleed. He never acknowledged that he had done it, nor did he do anything to address the wound. He was also extremely rough with me, bending my fingers in unnatural positions to the point he actually popped one of my finger joints. He also never spoke to me during the service, except to give me instructions- even getting up and leaving the station at one point without telling me where he was going or what he was doing. When he came back he put a hot towel on my hands without telling me it would be hot. He followed that with a scented lotion without considering that I might have a sensitivity. Finally, he was so careless with the polish that he got it on the underside of my fingers. He then used a nail file to scrape it off my skin. It's also worth noting that the color polish he put on me looked nothing like the sample I was shown. The name was the same on the package but it was definitely not the same shade. I chose a dark mauve and was given a hot pink (which is still on my skin). This is the worst salon I've ever been to and would advise anyone to go somewhere else. read more

Extremely disappointed with the service I received today. Usually, my experiences are positive at this salon. We had an appointment scheduled today- so it's not like we were even a walk-in. Today, both myself and my daughter's manicure and pedicure were rushed with polish literally everywhere. My pedicure is sloppy and I was not given any choice in the service I received. My daughters nails had to be redone because her hands were literally covered in polish. I would not recommend this salon to anyone and will not be back. read more

This was going to be my first time going here. I got there at 1:30 pm. A nail chair was being used and 1 pedicure seat was being used. Several staff sitting around and asked what I wanted, I replied with a pedicure please, the man says we are booked, no open spots. I guess I am confused as to why they didn't offer a time to return or anything. Rude and short and not welcoming at all. I did see 3 women walk in after me, but that still would not have occupied the chairs or amount of staff sitting there. Not impressed at all. I want to cry. I came here because I was disappointed with the other nail shop in North Liberty and was really hoping that this place would be better, and had heard it was good. I have long natural nails, which my regular nail lady in Iowa City is amazing with- and she knows I tip her at least $20 everytime. This place is just as abusive and gossipy as Nail Art, maybe even worse. I am a very good tipper to my nail ladies, because I know my nails can be a pain to deal with, but I can't expect a new place to know that so it has been hard to find someone. I'm really frustrated and sad after my experience here because I was ridiculed and made fun of the entire time. Far from a relaxing experience. I started tearing up in the chair when she told me I wasn't allowed to watch her work. I am leaving with small cuts all over my hands from sloppy work - sloppy work which I was charged an extra $5 for, on top of another extra $5 for previous tip removal. Totaling $10 extra hidden fees. She told me the $5 she was charging was for shape - a shape which in all honesty looks like shit and was done sloppily. I tipped her $10, making my DIP MANICURE COST $55 TOTAL. I was not warned the shape would cost extra, and, given that the shape isn't even done well I would call this a huge rip off. Its sad because like I said, I tip $20 to my nail lady normally, but not when they try to charge extra for terrible work, are rude to you, and sloppy. The worst nail shop ever BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO HAND MASSAGES JUST STRAIGHT TO DOING NAILS, they did not make you feel pampered or good. They charge the same price for KIDS as they would charge an ADULT. It sucks to give a bad review but they deserve I am from California and been to many nail art places and this is the worse i would never go back ever again my daughters didnt even feel wanted there so if someone is reading this review just save yourself time by not going there.
