First off, only reason this place isn't getting 5 stars is because of their parking lot which has nothing to do with the actual service of the nail salon but it does tie in with the overall experience. Parking spots are tight, compact & smart car friendly. Moving past that and into the actual store front, salon is clean, regardless if techs are busy someone will meet your eyes and greet you. My sister-in-law and I went yesterday (April 9th). We were there a few minutes too early before they were even open and the owners were nice enough to let us in instead of just waiting outside. As soon as we walked in we got sat. I showed my nail tech the design and she got it pretty spot on in my opinion. Kimberly really took her time to make sure my nails were to my liking which I loved. She kept checking on me to make sure I was okay with my nails. The environment at Sky Nails was very relaxing. Everyone was so polite and friendly. I even got hooked on the show they were playing. Despite the negative reviews I still wanted to go and see for myself and I was not disappointed. The bad reviews don't compare to my experience there. There was no unprofessionalism anywhere. My experience at the salon was horrible. I arrived at the salon after driving 6 hours from Houston to Brownsville and I wanted a relaxing manicure/pedicure session. The lady that attended me was 100% on her phone, texting and FaceTiming her boyfriend/husband. Does not matter who it was. She did not soak my feet or my hands for both. And to make matters worse, I ended up with a foot infection and ended up taking antibiotics!! I didn't want to be rude, so, I didn't say anything to her. Extremely disappointed that I had to pay $40 for such horrible service. 1. Why is there an EMPLOYEES CHILD slapping peoples butts, running around screaming, and moving the person doing my pedicure risking cutting me while cutting my cuticles... it's supposed to be a relaxing environment not a stressful environment. 2. The worker sprayed the SCRUBBING BUBBLES directly in my feet on accident of course thinking it was the nail finishing spray and instead of using common sense and maybe rinsing my feet off and re doing the polish he simply laughed it off "sorry" and sprayed the finishing spray directly over the scrubbing bubbles. He also wiped my nails with a rag ( why? I don't know.) when the polish was fresh as you can see in the picture leaving marks on my nails. When I go talk to the manager about it her explanation is that it was an accident... no shit I know that so wash my feet and Re do the polish but Her way to fix the problem was to apply a new paint layer and more clear coat but never to wash the chemicals off. So I had to pay full price and I still left with cleaning chemicals penetrated into my skin but I'm not going to waste my time and argue with somebody that is stuck on "it happens" and refuses to listen to my concerns so here is this review instead. 3. The guy doing my parters pedi was extremely harsh and not only BRUISED but absolutely ruined the shape of her nails. When she told him to please be gentle because he kept making her toes bleed he simply mocked her and did as he pleased. She also had to pay full price because their solution was to apply new clear coat... clear coat doesn't remove bruises and cuts. Absolutely stupid. This place is a shit show. If you find this hard to believe I advise to scroll down to negative reviews and see the owners super unprofessional replies. Tells you all you need to know. Save yourself the hassle and spend those $30-50 at a different place! Attached is proof of payment since the owner loves to be defensive about bad reviews. Yes it happened! UPDATE: I shared the same post on their Facebook and they blocked me in order to delete the review! UPDATE: owner messaged me to call me a bitch and basically harassed me and some petty bullshit of hers. read more

Not only did they PUSH me to spend "just 5 more dollars" for a more expensive pedicure, he was not gentle AT ALL. I had to ask for him to please be a bit more gentle AFTER he made not one but TWO of my toes bleed. I was very kind and he still mocked me. I'm a nanny so trust me I have no issue with children. But this is not the place. The child even ran over to me and my partners seats and almost messed the worker up with her pedicure. I was really excited to try this nail salon based on all the great reviews, but sadly I was disappointed. Yes, they are all very sweet, but I like to think I invest on quality services. Andddd to my surprise, IT WAS NOT A QUALITY SERVICE. I got the dip and from years and years of religiously getting my nails done I have never had all of my nails crack 2-3 days after getting a service done. I understand if it is 3 or 4 weeks after getting my nails done, but 2-3 days is ridiculous. They said that they could not control what I do once I leave the salon, which I completely understand, but it's odd that this has never happened, REGULAR POLISH IS MORE LONG LASTING! On top of that they charged for removal and polish (I did not even want my nails polished but they kept asking what color I was wanting, thinking they would take care of me after such a bad experience, I was wrong again!). Such an awesome find! I recently moved to the area and found the is little gem randomly. Very cute salon! Very clean, all materials are cleaned and sanitized, a plastic liner is placed into the pedicure bowl when you get a pedicure, and not to mention that they are one of the few places in the area that does dip nails! My nail technician was super sweet and friendly and did an amazing job with my pedicure! She had only been at the salon for about 2 weeks but she carried herself well and I wouldn't even had known she had only been there a short amount of time if she hadn't told me. What a great nail salon! I am in town from California and was looking to get a manicure while in town. Sky Nails has great Yelp reviews and I can see why. Nancy took care of my gel manicure, and it was the best manicure I have had anywhere. She took her time, was gentle and double checked her work. I usually feel rushed to make decisions and get out the door when I'm getting my nails done, but my experience was the exact opposite. I hope this place is around for a long time.
