Sky Meadow Retreat center is a beautiful haven for yoga, meditation, pranayama, cooking, and general merriment. Sky Meadow has been home to our annual knitting retreat for more than 10 years. We (16 knitters) take over the whole barn area early in April and stay for 3 nights. It is spotless. We cook all our own meals in the very well stocked kitchen. We find every tool we need, plus serving dishes and pots and pans. There is a large open area for yoga, weaving, spinning. We tend to sit on the sofa and chairs in the corner and just knit. The Wood stove, kept stocked by the owner, Miles, keeps us toasty and warm. There are barn animals just behind the bedrooms where you can approach and pat the sheep and alpaca, and hear the rooster crow in the early hours. There are several bathrooms and bunk rooms for 4. Sunsets through the enormous picture window are fabulous, also mountain views and wildlife. Walks on the deserted dirt road are peaceful and the trails surrounding the barn go through the woods and to a meadow. A wonderful place to rejuvenate. read more

I have been leading yoga retreats at Sky Meadow Retreat in Stannard, VT since 2010. Every year gets better and better. The host family is incredibly easy to work with and hospitable. Cella has been cooking for my group for over 4 years and everyone just raves about how delicious and creative the meals are. Most of the food comes directly from the land. There are acres upon acres to explore and plenty of things to do, especially in summer when you can spend the day soaking in an incredibly clean pond. So refreshing. I love Sky Meadow! It really is a place of magic. Any fitness, meditation, or yoga instructor should definitely look them up if they are looking for an affordable and unforgettable retreat space close to NH, Boston, and Vermont! read more

I have been teaching yoga in Vermont for over 14 years and have lead many retreats at a number of different retreat centers in Vermont, Mexico, and Massachusetts. I have never before been treated as disrespectfully as I was at Sky Meadow. The setting of Sky Meadow is beautiful and the retreat space is clean and inviting, however the owner/manager was rude and unwelcoming to us from the moment we arrived and did not seem to appreciate our business. There were a large number of rules to follow while we were on retreat and, although we did our best to follow these rules, we received an email after our retreat detailing all of the rules we had broken. Groups using the center are expected to clean before they leave and although the 13 of us spent 1 hour cleaning and sweeping at the end our retreat the owner was unhappy because he had expected us to do more and told us we were not welcome to return. In addition to these managerial issues a number of the women on our retreat were made very uncomfortable by an incident in which the owner appeared wearing what looked like nothing but a bath towel outside of the picture window in the dining room one evening while we were eating dinner. Maybe this is typical for him as his house is nearby, but I did not find such behavior to be appropriate for someone hosting a women's retreat group. My event co-leader and I have agreed we will not return to Sky Meadow again although it is a lovely space and the rental rates are reasonable. read more

I recently stayed at at Sky Meadow for a solo retreat. I can honestly say that the setting in which this center resides is probably one of the most beautiful places one could imagine and with incredibly friendly and helpful owners/staff. It literally has a sky meadow with wild flowers all around and sweeping views of all the mountain ranges. There is a really cool meditation gazebo right on top of it. Aside from the lush natural beauty the owners have really spared no artistic detail with such added features such as swimming ponds, caves, music pavillion, cob houses, teepee's, even friendly llama and sheep grazing around you - you name it. It's fantastical, serene, and tasteful all at the same time. My solo retreat was in one of their cabin's called the Robin's Nest which was tucked away in a private feeling little corner of the lower garden and in front of a lovely pond (great for swimming or simply sitting around). The cabin and all the facilities were super clean, comfortable and charming. Everything seems to have a rustic, cozy/comfortable and intimate feel. This particular retreat was solo and there was a place for me to cook and store food, but I have eaten from their kitchen and their food is an experience in of itself - I would challenge you to find fresher, more gourmet vegetarian food ANYWHERE... Speaking of freshness - you should see the epic things going on in their gardens. read more
