I am a house buying newbie to the point where I was completely unfamiliar about literally every step of the process. I am originally from Puerto Rico, where the house buying process is much less complicated, so you can understand how the process quickly became overwhelming when you are receiving emails from 7 different places at the same time asking for 20 different things. The people at Norstar Mortgage (Dan Avanzato, Ricky Avanzato, Scott Martire) were both very informative and kind, but also very patient with me. The process of obtaining a loan was extremely daunting for multiple reasons, but the team at Norstar never made me feel frustrated or overwhelmed. They explained things thoroughly to me, made sure I was informed about the entire process, and answered any silly questions I had. They really did a stellar job. Take into consideration that I was shopping around for loans at a myriad of places (LoanDepot, QuickenLoans, etc.), but none of them could match the rates, fees, service, or general niceness of the people from Norstar. I'm not sure which states they work in specifically or if they're only PA based, but I can tell you that if you have the opportunity to do your business with Norstar, you should DEFINITELY consider it. You will not be sorry. To my Norstar team, Dan Avanzato, Ricky Avanzato and Scott Martire, I just want you to know ho much I appreciate your positivity, helpfulness, and willingness to work with someone as difficult as I am!! You guys are awesome!

I appreciate stuff happens but this seems like a substantial error on the part of a title company considering this is one of their primary responsibilities. When things began rolling with finding homes, and needing information from him regarding cost sheets and communication with my real estate agent, he was MIA, didn't answer calls, didn't respond in a timely manner. Then when he did respond, he was very short, without taking time to answer questions or give all the information that was necessary. Not very good, especially when many things with purchasing a home is already stressful and requires timely responses for deadlines. Needless to say, I did NOT move forward with him, I switched Lenders, which was a great choice!

When we bought our first we certainly needed someone to educate and look out for us. They absolutely pulled through. This was in 2002 when the housing market was at the peak - 10 people were also bidding for the house we eventually purchased. When it became time to sell, and purchase our new house we were on the opposite side of the spectrum with the lousy real estate market. The Burns' took care of everything from start to finish. Imagine trying to go through two settlements at the same time with an inexperienced Realtor/Broker! Thankfully we did not make that mistake. I would strongly suggest JB Realty for anyone - what a great group of people!

I dealt with this brokerage firm for the purchase of my first house in Jan 2015: Closing went ok,…read morethere was a set back with the closing date which in turn aggravated the sellers when we were finally able to sit down and sign the papers. A year later, I needed to replace the HVAC unit in that same home - I called the same broker that helped me purchase the house (which I am seeing was a HUGE mistake) and again, everything was good until the appraisal came through completely erroneous and challenges had to be entered against their report. After listening to this broker regarding the status of this refi, I signed the contracts to have the HVAC installed. Needless to say, after the challenges were entered and the contracts were singed, she did not return any of my phone calls or emails, leaving me to cover the cost of the HVAC unit from my own pocket. This company is NOT LOYAL and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL...DO NOT USE THEM!!! STAY AWAY. I have talked to others who have used this company and broker and they state the same thing as I do and DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE.
