He refuses to return calls, voicemail, certified letters, emails, etc. The address listed here on Google and his website are just a coworking space that doesn't even claim to know who he is - it is certainly not his office. I have an active case with the State Bar Of Texas to investigate this issue and he is also ignoring all communication attempts from the State Bar. Prior to this I had opened a case with the Client Attorney Assistance Program and he ignored them, too. He owes me several thousand dollars and is in breach of contract for failure to return an unearned retainer. Not only is failure to return an unearned retainer unethical, but given the amount of time that has passed this has potential criminal and civil consequences for Mr. Coonley. Although he is (technically) a lawyer it's not clear he understands that failure to reply to a grievance issued by the Chief Disciplinary Council of the State Bar Of Texas has the potential to get him disbarred at worst and at best produces a public reprimand which will be on his record forever. I would never recommend anyone work with this attorney. For anyone else who may be experiencing issues with this attorney here are resources for you: - Create a free case with the client attorney CAAP (email caap@texasbar.com to get more info) - File a grievance with the State Bar of Texas (cdcinfo@texasbar.com)

After I asked him to get me an LLC formed, I couldn't get ahold from him anymore. Trying to get ahold of him was more trouble than me just doing it myself. He makes your life more difficult, not easier. So if you want to pay money to feel like an absolute sucker, John is the right lawyer for you. I wouldn't wish working with this guy on my worst enemy. I went to the address listed on his google business page and couldn't find him anywhere, nor anybody who know who he was. Eventually after a long time, I believe after I left a negative review on google, he finally reached out. He agreed to refund me for my LLC filing fees, which makes sense since he didn't actually file the LLC, but not his time, even though he really didn't help me accomplish anything. I was at least relieved to get a refund. That process was just as frustrating. It took multiple weeks of calling and texting incessantly to get the refund actually processed, and he was less than pleasant to deal with and whined about what a pain in the ass the refund process was for him. After FINALLY receiving the refund, he asked me to take down the negative google review I left for him. Despite all he had put me through, I said if he came by and shook my hand and apologized like a man, I would take it down. He agreed and then I never heard from him again. WHAT A JOKE!

I was in search of an attorney to represent me in a personal business transaction. I was referred…read moreto this group by a trusted friend, also a prominent Austin attorney. She and her firm don't do contract law, so she was unable to help me. I found Hay Legal Group's "front door" demeanor to be off-putting. I called them directly. Instead of taking my information over the phone, the receptionist insisted I go to their website and fill out their contact form and their paralegal would be in touch. That's rude, and not very customer service oriented. If I call, don't send me to a website. In filling out their intake form, I was careful to be very specific and detailed in the scope of services and dates I needed. My request was succinct but factual. I got back a rather terse email from their executive assistant a little over an hour later. Without further explanation, Marci thanked me for my contact and referred me to another attorney outside their law firm. It turns out their referral was to an attorney who is a former partner of their law firm. One star for family loyalty, I guess. Overall, Hay Legal Group didn't leave a positive impression with this Yelper. I didn't get good vibes about doing business with this firm, short-lived though my experience may have been. According to their website, what I requested in terms of services was totally in their wheelhouse. Perhaps I was so specific that they knew they were unable to accommodate my request and didn't want to waste their time or mine. I will allow them that possibility, and give them another star. Still, they could have handled things more cordially and professionally and at least offered a reason for the redirection. In my opinion, they came off as cold, impersonal bots, pushing e-tasks from inbox to outbox. I can't speak to the value of their services since we weren't able to conduct any business beyond contact and client intake/rejection--unless, that is, if you consider that the value here was in not wasting my time. But they could have saved me even more time and effort filling out their form and waiting for an answerby just answering my question over the phone, after all. Learn to talk to a human, Hay Legal Group. Treat potential clients like you'd like to be treated. If you have to turn away clients, at least leave them with a good impression of your firm. Two stars for my experience and expectations. My advice is to keep looking.

I've had the pleasure of working with Hannah Myres and I've also sent referrals that have just raved and went on and on about how easy Hay Legal made things for them. Choose Hay legal for your title insurance and go to bed with peace of mind that your house is your house and no one can take that away from you. My next house purchase is in two years or less and Hannah will definitely be by my side at closing!
