Vasco is a consummate professional; he answers questions promptly, he follows up (and through) consistently and is always available when questions arise. We haven't had exposure (yet) to other departments at Lexidy, but we trust that Vasco represents how Lexidy treats its clients every day. We'll update this review once we have had more experience with Lexidy. Until then, a huge thank you to Vasco for his help and professionalism.

Our experience with GCS started strong and ended in frustration. Early on, their legal team was…read moreprofessional, responsive, and clear about the D7 visa process for Portugal. That standard did not hold. As we approached our scheduled December 2025 VFS Global interview in San Francisco, communication steadily deteriorated. Emails went unanswered, updates were sporadic, and it became unclear whether our case was being actively managed. At one point, I contacted GCS headquarters directly just to get basic status information. Amid growing uncertainty around AIMA procedures and proposed immigration law changes, we chose to withdraw our D7 application. That decision came with significant sunk costs - legal fees, insurance, documentation, travel, and a year-long property lease - which we accept as our responsibility. What was unexpected was a €1,272.62 invoice sent days after we formally withdrew, covering services such as NIF assistance, banking introductions, and VFS appointment scheduling. These charges were neither billed when the services were performed many months ago nor clearly outlined at the outset, which was extremely disappointing. I will pay the invoice in full, but reluctantly. GCS had real potential and showed it early on; however, communication, transparency, and follow-through declined at the most critical point in the process.

I've done the shared room arrangement a few times, but having my own room is more my speed. Staying in a hostel was a no brainer for me when I visited Lisbon two years ago. The Living Lounge is a beautiful hostel with colorful and thoughtful artwork adorning the walls of the common areas and individual rooms. Each room has a unique theme that was carefully curated by a local artist. I stayed in the clock-themed Timeless room. This room was right next to the staircase, so I could hear the sound of footsteps up and down the stairs during my stay. Bathrooms were clean and conveniently located on either side of the floor. This three-level walkup is a short distance from the Baixa-Chiado metro station, trams, and other attractions. The staff members were welcoming and accommodating. They even sent me a Lisbon guide prior to my stay that offered helpful resources and tips for navigating the city and making the most of my trip. The hostel's common area features a living room, kitchen, and bar. You can sign up at the reception desk for daily events such as the popular nightly dinners, walking tours or fado performances. I attended one of the nightly dinners during my stay. It featured a delicious and filling meal prepared by a chef and generous pours of wine for only ten euro. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this charming hostel and I can't wait to visit Lisbon again!

Since we live in the U.S., we are quite unfamiliar with the Portuguese language, which made it difficult to understand some of our waiters/waitresses (which it wasn't too bad, but it was sometimes difficult to communicate.) As we were sat down and asked what we wanted to drink, we were slightly surprised to see that our waiter was commenting on some of our drink orders. At first this seemed particularly strange to us, but eventually it became a very funny part of the night. Our waiter continued to act slightly unsocial and didn't seem to want to talk to us more than he needed too. Most of these thing aren't very big deals, and later in our trip they turned into extremely funny memories. As for the food, everyone in our little group found everything VERY delicious. As for me, i particularly enjoyed my burger, as it was cooked to perfection. Overall, our experience had a few bumps along the way, but turned out to be an extremely enjoyable night!
