Dining on a floating pontoon while dining on fresh seafood is a not something you would have a chance to do on any regular 'ol day, so when we found Skippers we knew it was the place we definitely wanted to try. Upon reception they didn't have seating on the pontoon so we opted to sit on the land side of the restaurant. After a few minutes they moved us onto the boat, once a spot became available. I thought this was very attentive of them, because at that point we had already situated with our wine, bread, etc. and they could have easily continued status quo. The pontoon does sway slightly as you dine, so if you are sensitive or easily get motion sickness I would recommend not sitting on the boat. Otherwise, I would highly recommend sitting on the boat if you get a chance. So about the food: If you order any 1 thing from skippers, make sure it's the gnocchi. Melt in your mouth and sinfully rich, I would have been content just eating bowlfuls of this dish all night. We ordered the gnocchi (amazing), beef ravioli (average), scampi (delicious) and spaghetti frutti de mare. Now, frutti de mare anything is one of my absolute favorite things to eat while in the Italian Rivera (I eat it at least once a day), and I was a wee bit disappointed with Skipper's. The dish did not have the "fruits of the sea", and was more like shrimp scampi with noodles. There was no other variety of seafood on the dish other than shrimp (albeit very fresh shrimp!). Even with this slight disappointment we enjoyed our meal and found the service warm and attentive. read more
