I gave this restaurant a try since the reviews were above average but I was disappointed. The service was very good, and the location front row on the port. We had the caprese salad, grilled prawns, and grilled sea bream. Da I Gemelli in right in the center of Portofino along the waterfront. There are a dozen or so other restaurants along the waterfront but none were as busy as this one. After finishing dinner we understood why. The food, service and views of the boats and yachts were all wonderful. Both the salt encrusted sea bass and sole in butter sauce with pine nuts were fantastic. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff were great in bringing out a candle lit dessert and singing happy birthday. The people watching was almost as good as the food. Parking in the town can be difficult but we were lucky in getting space in the only parking lot in the town. The other option is to take a taxi at 35 euros each way, or the bus for a couple euros. read more

Delicious amazing and nice service as long as you dint ask Parmesan on pasta which they do not approve of. Oh well I guess when in Rome lol. This is an establishment family owned by twins so when you walk from one to the other you are not seeing double. I prefer the location by public washrooms just larger and kinder staff. read more

I would give Da I Gemelli 6+ Stars if I could! We needed up in Portofino around 7:30 pm on a Thursday night without a reservation. They initially said they were fully committed, but one of the owners Paolo came to us and asked us to wait a minute. He found a great table for my wife and I outside by the water. Paolo recommended an amazing local Rose (we needed up getting one to go after finishing the bottle). The sautéed shrimp in the shell to start, the. Followed by a sea bass cooked in sea salt that melted in your mouth. The service at Da I Gemelli is as good as anywhere in the world and the food as fresh as can be. BEWARE RACIST BUSINESS. My African-American husband, baby and I asked for a table for 3 today for lunch and we were told that the clearly open tables were not available as they were only taking reservations for lunch and booked full that day. We saw another couple (just seated) from our cruise and asked if they had a reservation and they said no. This seemed suspicious so when we ran into another family (all white) a moment later that we knew from our Cruise. We asked them to ask for a table for three and the restaurant was happy to seat them and insisted that there were no reservations required for lunch. Don't eat here if you are not white or care about racial equity for non-white people. Looking at the reviews on Google, it appears it was the actual owner that turned us away. read more

Truly the worst restaurant I have been to in Italy. We had a family member that nearly had her bag stolen by a fellow restaurant customer. The restaurant staff would not help and actually seemed to be aiding the criminal. For a $1,000+ bill I would have expected that the staff would have been slightly more helpful. Tons of places to choose from right on the water but Da I Gemelli was one of the best dinners we had in our entire time in Italy. The atmosphere was lovely of course, but the staff was the perfect amount of attentive yet left us to enjoy our meal. We originally tried to make reservations at Puny but they are closed on Thursday nights? Closed on Thursdays in the middle of summer-seriously? So we decided to try Gemelli and it was great! By far the best restaurant we dined at while visiting Portofino. They are family owned (service was great), food was excellent and it was reasonably priced. Our whole dining experience was positive.
