About 6 months ago I started getting regular facials to improve my skin. I chose Skintelligence because I wanted a convenient place that totally focused on my skin and not necessarily a full spa experience. I love it here. The staff is so friendly, and the experience is always relaxing. I've been going to Taylor, and she is outstanding. My skin looks and feels great. She was very adept at identifying the most stressful areas of my upper back. The room smelled so fresh, temperature was perfect and the quiet music added to the relaxation. Mama needed a mental-health/self-care/leave-me-alone day the other day so I took off the day from work to get some stuff done. I didn't want the day to be all errands and no fun, so I called on Thursday and was able to get an appointment with Roxana on Monday. Now, let me give some background by stating when it comes to spa appointments, I'm usually not one to go for facials. I usually choose massage, manicures, pedicures, or hair appointments as my services of choice. I've never had acne-prone skin (a blessing, yes) so I never gave facials much thought. But I felt like my skin had gotten really sad and crappy looking over the winter and wanted it to look brighter, fresher and less like I'm someone who works full time, has a part-time job, has a 2 year old, has another baby on the way AND is in grad school. Because that's me. So I chose a facial. When I made the appt, the receptionist was very kind and friendly and joyful. She asked me specifically what kind of services I wanted and I said, "I don't know -- something that makes me look less haggard." She laughed and said no problem -- we'll do a custom facial. The custom facial ended up being some microdermabrasion, some extractions, some steam, lots of different creams and masks and toners and things. I've got pretty sensitive skin and nothing bothered me. The facial itself was relaxing, although I was left in the room by myself for quite a long time -- I don't know... 15-20 minutes? I lost track of time and had a cover over my eyes so I have no idea. Note -- if I'm going to be "processing" for that long, at least throw in a foot massage or something?? Anywho.... I left and my face looked and felt better but I thought that was just because of all the massaging and creams. I thought to myself, OK well, that was nice but it's not that big of a difference. Well, here's why I'm giving it 5 stars. It's been 4 days since this treatment and my skin has never looked better. I catch my reflection in the mirror and think, OH!! Now I get it! Now I see the benefits. My skin is clearer, more balanced, smoother. I notice fewer blackheads on my nose. I'm able to get away with just under-eye concealer and mascara and look reasonably put together. I will definitely be back for periodic treatments. Thanks! read more

I decided to go to Skintelligence after reading the reviews on Yelp. I had been going to a facialist in Rockville, but needed to find one closer to home. This is my honest opinion after getting facials done by another highly rated aesthetician on Yelp. The spa itself is very nice and the staff are very kind and cordial. Natalie was very sweet and welcoming. I went for an acne facial, which is 90 minutes long. My facials in Rockville were about 15 minutes longer (sometimes even longer if I was her last client for the day) and more affordable. I don't mind paying more as long as I know that I'm getting my money's worth. I used to get facials about every 4-5 weeks and my aesthetician never left the room during my facials. If I had a mask on, she would give me a scalp massage or give me a shoulder massage (probably my favorite part of my facials). So, you could imagine my surprise when Natalie at Skintelligence left the room while I had a mask on. It also surprised me that she did extractions at the end. With my previous aesthetician, she did extractions after double cleansing my face and with the help of steaming she made sure my pores were opened up so it's easy to get to the blackheads and other debris under my skin. Then, she would finish off with a cooling mask (and scalp massage) to help soothe my skin from the extractions. I am very familiar with the pain of extractions, however, it was extremely painful to the point of tears because the extractions were done at the end when I felt as though the benefits of steaming my face were gone and my pores were not as accessible as they could have been. After getting my facial, I was very surprised this spa had gotten so many positive reviews. I think if you have never received a facial from an aesthetician that fully devotes their time to you, I guess it would seem like you really are getting your money's worth at Skintelligence. This experience has helped me make the decision to go back to the aethestician in Rockville despite the distance. read more

She has the most soothing voice, and gives first hand experience, which is always a plus. Recently started micro needling with Theresa, and choose to only do the area around my mouth. If it were possible, I'd give this place 10-plus stars. I discovered Skintelligence back in 2012 (yes, I'm very late in giving this review) because I was looking for someone to do my wedding day make-up. That's how I found Mali, their master esthetician. I have supersensitive, temperamental, combination skin and had hyperpigmention spots along my jawline and under my chin. Even after going to a dermatologist, no one correctly diagnosed why I was getting these acne marks or how to eliminate them -- I had resigned myself to wearing cover-up and foundation forever to conceal these blemishes and old scars. In my first consultation with Mali, she immediately identified the issue and we established a plan (customized facials with Mali and laser hair removal with Theresa). With their help, I now have a clear, blemish-free face and the older, hyperpigmented spots are gone. I highly recommend Skintelligence's services, including microdermabrasion and oxyfacials, waxing, laser hair removal, electrolysis and their massage services. I can only speak to those from experience, but please check their website as they offer much more! I am always so happy and rejuvenated after my visits. Not only is everyone here exceptional, but the spa space is also warm, modern and very relaxing. And as a bonus, people definitely notice and compliment my clear, plump and glowing face. Theresa is super patient and listens to you. She asks enough questions that you end up with what you want and she does not push you.
