Thank you Dr. Dyson, Dr. Penna and will meet with Walt Sims Tuesday. They are all great doctors and I'm so glad to have found them through our daughter, Lori Goodwin who referred us to Skin Solutions Dermatology! Excellent doctors and treatment for two years. Thank you so much. read more

Two stars because it's clean inside, but one star for the rest. Lazy office who doesn't listen to you. Made an appointment online a few days ago asking for an appointment for x. Asked a question in the comment section about insurance and cost. They called me back, scheduled and said good to go. Show up for the appointment, driving 30 minutes to get to their office, and they told me it would be $70 for the copay for y. I said that's fine, but that's not why I'm here. I literally spoke to someone about this two days ago, they didn't have anything in my notes. On top of that, when I asked them to give the price if insurance didn't cover, I was told to call my insurance "and figure it out." Ummm no! That is why I'm coming to a doctor office. YOU call my insurance and figure it out. I was told they don't handle that. So I walked out. Note: I would have been fine paying out of pocket, I just wanted to know the cost in advance. Online said between $150-$1,500 and that is a big gap/difference. They absolutely refused to assist in getting information. I will go elsewhere and pay out of pocket, but will not work with rude individuals who don't give patients the courtesy of helping the process by doing their jobs. Do not recommend. read more

Seemed more concerned about my next appointment rather than my current one. It also felt rushed. Your job is to provide health services, not sales. They do that crap at chiropractors. Seems to be a common theme in TN. Ask, if someone wants another appointment instead of trying to force them. 70 dollars for a 10 minute appointment. Thats a little over 400/hour you're charging people after insurance. Keep it up and you won't be around much longer. read more

I recently had a painful skin issue and attempted to get a same-week appointment at this clinic. Despite trying multiple locations, I was told no appointments were available due to many doctors being on vacation. I was advised to "check back next week"--not ideal for something potentially urgent. When I visited the Cool Springs location in person today (Tuesday--4 days later) around 4:15 PM (they close at 5), I was met with a very cold reception. The receptionist made it clear I was an inconvenience. After explaining my situation, I was told all doctors leave at 3:30 PM--despite the office being open until 5. I asked if a nurse could at least take a look, but was told nurses can't diagnose and I'd need to wait until Friday for the next available appointment. It's disappointing that a well-regarded medical clinic couldn't spare five minutes for a patient experiencing what felt like an urgent skin issue. I understand the value of schedules, but flexibility and compassion should be part of healthcare. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. You can chose to do business with this clinic if you like. However, please know they do not care about you unless you fit into their schedule. read more

Sweet people... did very thorough exams and were kind.Tiday when I tried to do my televisit on a new phone, it wouldn't work and therefore my visit was automatically rescheduled.. .. Called to tell them and I was put on a que... or hold...so by the time I finally got to talk to someone, my appt. was rescheduled. I began doing my vitals and things way before my appt., but it would not work w the browser I had on my new phone... So it detained me being on time when in fact I began way before my appt was to behin. When I called, the receptionist was sweet. But I never got to see the main doctor the whole time I went there. Abd today, nobody asked how I was doing. Guess I'm just a number. I will go elsewhere. Sad bc I really liked it there until today. DO NOT USE THE PORTAL IF U DO NOT HAVE SAFARI APP!Learn from me. read more

I called first to find out if this clinic takes my insurance company and was told yes. So I made an appointment and asked for exact location. I was told NASHVILLE WEST ACROSS FROM TARGET. I took TWO busses to get there and found NOTHING. I tried to call them to ask why I don't see them, but I get the call center and takes forever to wait my turn, I need information NOW. It was about to storm, so I took TWO busses to go home. I called them next day, told them they are not where I was told. Then I was given the REAL location and made another appointment. Got there and filled out forms. Doctor came to see me and gave me another form to sign saying I will pay if my insurance doesn't. I don't sign anything that I don't know about. Doctor gave me some code numbers and told me to go home and call my insurance to ask if these codes are covered. THAT IS THEIR JOB.. NOT MINE!!! I took yet TWO MORE busses to go home after taking TWO busses to get there... Again. Now, two trips to the clinic and NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE. A manager called me a couple hours later, we spoke of details of my visit and she apologized and said she would call my insurance company and call me back the next day.. I'VE HEARD NOTHING..I called them (Through the call center) was told the manager would call me back........... I've heard NOTHING. I just called back to the call center and left message because no one was answering the phone, that I've decided to look for another dermatologist... BYE!! read more

I'd been going to Skin Solutions for years and although wasn't overly impressed with the latest hires or quality of service over recent years, I'd never had any major issues until recently. A mole was misdiagnosed as normal by the PA (Kelsey Mauro) and even when I went back to just have it removed, nothing was stated about any concern at all. Until I was called a few days later stating it was a Basal Cell Carcinoma and I needed Mohs surgery. The incompetence (wrong area marked for surgery pix), inability to provide truthful information (quote for the cost of the surgery way off), and lack of patient care (no discussions on closing options ie. graft/no graft) proved that this practice is more concerned with billings than their patients' health. For example, I was only informed that the grafts for closing were optional when I went in for the suture removal & was told it failed to take so I ended up with the same healing as no graft. And yet Skin Solutions charged my insurance company $1,040 for the graft (not included in my billing quote)! Wonder why it wasn't discussed with me prior to the surgery....... I am now 3 months out from the surgery and am not at all pleased with the healing time or results. They don't adequately prepare you for the surgery or recovery - and they should be experts by now with the volume they push through. I will note that they invited me back to ensure I was happy with all results however once you've lost faith in any provider, especially a medical provider, it's pretty much over. I wouldn't go back for any reason and would strongly recommend that others stay away. Skin Solutions is more about what they can bill you than what is even needed or what's best for the patient. read more

During a skin checkup, without asking, the technician started spraying my face with something to "burn off" a spot she didn't like. Now I have an ugly scar. There should have at least been a discussion. Avoid Jo Elyn at all costs. read more

This company is more concerned about the money then the patient. Was referred to Dr. Pena for Mohs surgery and only went there because they told me that had availability in September. My records and pictures were sent and they were the only Mohs surgery place that needed me to come in and redo my appointment that I had with the referring physician. After waiting 50 minutes in the waiting room, the nurse called me back, took a picture (she acknowledged that they had received the picture from my referring doctor but said that way they wouldn't have to pull up the file) and asked if I was told about the procedure. I responded yes. She then checked and informed me that the earliest appointment was in December. Large bill for a 5 minute appointment considering they had all my information and I had to wait 50 minutes to even be seen. read more

I took my daughter to Skin Solutions because her skin was burning and irritated around her eyes. She was prescribed Cortizone. until her follow up. At that appointment she was prescribed a different medication. A few hours after using it made her skin feel like hot lava. when I called, the person who answered suggested discontinuing (obviously) and said see her at patch test in a month. Never spoke to a doctor or the nurse she saw. Totally unprofessional and apparently of no concern. I paid their bill and will not return! read more

My story is typical of why the health care system is broken in the US. These providers are used to bilking insurance companies so when they get someone that is cash pay, the bilking carries on as usual. Kelly Caudle insisted on bilking me by not completing my simple procedure on the first visit as requested. She could have but she's trained to bilk as much out of the patient as possible. So after 2 visits and no end in sight I left the office in search of a reputable dermatologist to complete my simple procedure. read more

Don't bother scheduling an appointment. I booked my appointment three weeks ago online, received my email confirmation yesterday that my appointment was confirmed and another email for the login to my portal. When I got to the appointment today (after a 35 min drive to get there) they told me it was cancelled and that they didn't have any availability to get me in. I never cancelled the appointment and showed them the email confirmation. If it was cancelled on their end they should have called me. The receptionist said they are severely under staffed but I was there for just an acne check up. So unprofessional and disappointed they were not willing to help a patient in any way. read more

My first visit at the Brentwood office I got my appointment fairly quick got in and sat down then waited and 1.5 hours!!! after asking to arrive early of course. the Brentwood location is tiny the waiting room is very small. I finally see the dermatologist, actually the nurse I assume to get notes prior. she rushes in and stands really far away as if I have a disease. She doesnt ask any questions at all I just explain what I thought was going on and how long and so on and she said ahh huh! she walked out and in came the doctor. They both rushed in! I felt like I was the last patient of the day even though it was only around 2 pm. She asked maybe two questions and I tried to say a couple of things and was quickly CUT OFF! i asked what could be waking me up at night causing a sharp pain? She gave me a look like are you stupid ? Says I don't know take 3 weeks worth of antibiotics and here is a tiny tube of ointment with a refill then because of the holiday I'll see you in four weeks. I had a full head of hair then. Today 3 weeks later I've lost half my hair!! ive called the office trying to get in sooner or to see if she can get something else or what to do. This place is a joke ! If you have anything serious DO NOT COME HERE ! IF you want Botox and don't care then ok. the front desk girl was rude ! they don't want anyone with insurance !! normally I would not write a review especially a bad one I own a business but this place is horrible ! read more

If you feel like getting your time, wasted and making your skin worse than this is definitely the place to fuck you up. I don't understand and I don't even know why they're open. They do not help with anything. Literally all they do is give you some thing you can literally buy off of Amazon. When I seen all the bad reviews, I should've listened to my gut and never wasted my time with this place. Be glad I was feeling wholly and didn't want to cuss anyone out today. read more

Pros: I loved my PA- Walt Sims. He is fantastic. Walt is very caring and has a great attitude. Cons: Paperwork Paperwork Paperwork. If you've just made a photocopy of my insurance card, why must I fill out more paperwork (by hand) giving you the information on my insurance card? I don't enjoy showing up for medical services, and then being assigned a book report. Waiting Waiting Waiting. If I have an appointment for 9:00, why can't I be seen at 9:00? (Probably because they are forcing all of the clerical work onto the patient). How do you get 30 minutes behind on your scheduling when you've only been open for an hour? I know this is how all medical offices function, and most folks begrudgingly put up with "the system". As for me, I'll continue my elusive search for an office that tries to respect their customer's time. Wish me luck! read more

I had my first appointment scheduled with PA Shannon Hendriks for itchiness on my arms and a "pimple" on my nose which would keep bleeding for days. Ms Hendricks was 45 minutes late, took a biopsy of my nose and then left. I asked the nurse if she was coming back to look at my arms. The nurse had to get Ms Hendricks back to the room to examine my arms. She didn't seem to know what it was. I showed her a cream I was using from a previous dermatologist, which she then prescribed something similar.I was in that office for one and one half hours! Then I received a bill from the lab who did the Pathology report stating that particular lab was not a participating provider under my government BC/BS insurance. When I contacted Julia Pena, the manager of this location, she explained that I should have told them to send the report to a participating provider!! Who would have known! I highly do not recommend this company read more

Skin Solutions Dermatology - Dermatologists Near Me - Franklin, Tennessee

DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! I stopped coming here awhile ago due to the hoops you have to jump through to even book an appointment and the difficulty reaching the office with an important follow up question. When my husband needed a derma I warned him not to go here and reminded him why the kids and I have switched. Because he was an established patient he kept the appointment out of convenience and boy is he regretting it. He had some brown spots "zapped" -- he is bald-- and he was given an rx for a cream to help with sun spots and told to only do a part of his head AND face for 3 weeks then move on to the next area. He was not warned AT ALL about the physical side effects. He was told the spots (which were pretty mild/minor) would "darken and flake off"...no big deal. It has been weeks since he has been able to leave the house. He is working from home, had to cancel travel, cannot go in public still. Had he been warned he would never have used this product, especially over the holidays. He is going to another doctor next week for help since this practice has not followed up and if you call you are left on hold indefinitely. I have no idea how they are still in business. BE WARNED!!!! read more

I've seen Walt Sims, PA, several times and I'm quite impressed. He's always professional, seems extremely knowledgeable, makes a point to explain and educate me, has a great bedside manner, and even tosses in a bit of humor to keep it light when appropriate. I not only trust Walt with working to help me extend my life, but I've brought my daughter in to see him as well. Keep up the great work Walt! I've read other Yelp reviews specific to the office staff and paperwork. We all hate filling out paperwork as new patients, but i didn't do anything more here than at any other office visit. I've been to the Cool Springs office several times, but I've not experience any notable delays to my appointment time. Front office staff and nurses are always extremely polite and professional. I'll be returning for follow-up visits. read more

TOTAL CHOP SHOP!!!!! I should have ran the minute I walked in and was prompted to answer several inappropriate questions that have nothing to do with skin. Was quoted one price over the phone, another price when I got there and then billed even higher. Went there and was seen after a long wait............... The Dr. walked in told me that rashes take to long to heal and that they "don't do rashes here" Don't do rashes in a dermatology office!!! ( maybe... it is because treating a rash does not have a large pay back compared to a surgical procedure) When I started to cry ( I had waited a long time for this appt. ) and had dealt with this rash on my leg for months ...( and when I made my appt. I told them what it was for ( a rash on my leg) she told me I was belligerent! She did finally give me a cream... to apply ... and it has helped. I wonder if I was treated so badly ( and others who have made comments) due to my insurance??? read more

I go to Skin Solutions in Pulaski and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Cassie Trammel is the best and I highly recommend them.

I've seen Kelly Caudle at the Charlotte Pike location consistently for close to two years now. As a nurse myself, her bedside manner, efficiency, and attention to detail has kept me as a returning patient all this time. She communicates effectively, listens to my concerns, and her time and effort to improve my skin, specifically my acne, has made all the difference in my life as well as several of my friends who also consistently see her. I will continue to see Kelly as long as she remains with Skin Solutions! read more

Had a great experience with Walt. He gave me a solution for a wart on my finger and it resolved so fast thanks to his expertise. Terribly run business. I have no idea about the quality of care. I made an appointment several weeks in advance. A week before my appointment, "my" doctor had a baby. not happy with the care i received at SSD. medicine prescribed for acne is not helping and when i contacted them i never received a callback . after 2-3 attempts when i spoke to nurse she told me they just received my blood reports and dr is on holidays.its been more than 2 weeks and still waiting for a call back. this is the worst experience dealing with a healthcare clinic. read more

My family and I have gone to SSD for years in Franklin. Here's my BIG complaint if you have two skin problems going on at once guess what TWO separate appointments. Yep no way around it. And don't think you can slip in the second problem while there they will tell you no make another appointment. Also expect what ever you go in there with you will have many follow ups with additional co-pays. The last time my husband went in the male nurse who spoke with my husband before the PA came in said he was told to discuss my husbands weight and nutrition and handed my husband some paper work on weight loss. That's fine but the nurse was doubled the size of my husband. I'd also recommend if making an appointment here do NOT book a appointment with Jo Elena for a teen. I took my 15 year old daughter in for acne and we mentioned my daughter was on birth control. Jo Elena looked at us completely mortified raised her voice and said why is a 15 year old birth control. My daughter is on birth control bc her periods are completely out of control and the pain is unbearable. But needless to say she humiliated my young daughter beyond belief. Jo Elena is certainly a unique personality to take. They have two young female PA's in the Franklin office now who are very kind and knowledgeable. Also, I cant tell you how many times I've called in for a refill they change the dosage strength when they call it in. This blows my mind. Last but not least if you want to talk with a human when contacting them. This is not your place they flat tell you make appointments online, email nurses online and send in medications requests online. They let you know if you do phone messages it will take longer. Not good for people like my parents who left there bc of this. Ok the reason two stars and not one star very nice staff and they do hustle to get you back. read more

The staff is automatic and robotic in how they diagnose and medicate. Their telephone assistance is terrible. I have tried calling five times over the past week and they have never picked up. Do NOT put your skin in the care of Dr. Pena! I have taken extensive care on my face my whole life and went here for a growth that I was afraid was in need of another Mohs! Dr. Pena was the worst dermatologist and quite frankly, Doctor I have ever been in to see. Not only did she act like a nervous wreck she went out of her way, it seemed, to give me only horrible news and told me to "get used to having Mohs surgery's!" I have never had a doctor use fear as a way to get business! In reading these reviews the same thing has happened to many others. I actually thought I was getting punked sitting there horrified by what she was saying. I asked her for photos of her closures without a plastic surgeon. When the nurse found an old book she slammed it shut on me and told me I'd need a plastic surgeon if she did it and then proceeded to tell me her PA missed a spot in my nose and she'd better freeze it more before it became cancer! Please do not see this woman. She gouges her patients for money and has no idea what she's doing! read more

Without question, the most friendly and welcoming medical practice ever experienced. I was seen at the Franklin (Cool Springs) office today only 3 days after inquiring about an appointment. The appointment scheduler I initially spoke with was so friendly and efficient in her attitude and manner. This morning I was seen by Kelsey Mauro and her assistant Piere. Both were so nice to me and explained all about the issue I presented. I was treated as if a VIP! Piere's handshake was strong and welcoming. I am definitely a return patient of this practice. read more

Worst Experience Ever...Don't waste your time. I scheduled an appointment due to a rash/Allergy on my eyelids (main concern) Came 30 minutes early and after paperwork it took about 30 more minutes to see the PA JoEllyn Dyson. She came into the room flashed a bright light over my face and within 2 seconds she turned the light out and told the nurse the prescription she needed to fax to my pharmacy. She didnt care about what I had to say, she was about to leave the room within 5 minutes. I tried to tell her about other issues and she said I couldn't be seen for more than one issue, and she didnt let me talk, She proceeded to tell me the she sees over 40 patients a day and they all get confused if they are treated for more than one issue at a time. Because I called her out, and without even looking at my other spot/issue she asked for me to use the same cream/lotion she prescribed for my eyelids. I said that didn't make sense, that I have never been to a doctor's office that would ask me not to discuss any other issues as I need to "come back", and on top of that to practically call me stupid. I guess because I am latino, and have tattoos she thought I wasn't smart enough to read and follow directions?? or maybe they just want to collect on office visits and copays. It is very concerning that a doctor or PA would be so rushed with a new patient. I will not be going back to this practice, and recommend other people to stay away from it. read more

I should have listened to these reviews and not the ones on healthgrades. I have been to one dermatologist in Columbus Ohio, where I'm from and 3 different dermatologists in the Franklin, TN area. I decided to try Dr. Pena for my yearly full body scan. First, the female at the front desk was very nice and I liked that they had ipads to complete your medical history instead of paperwork. After I completed my medical history I was immediately called back to the room which was awesome of not having to wait forever. The nurse was very nice and caring and then I waited about 10 minutes in the room. Dr. Pena came in and thoroughly checked my skin but I noticed she would have the nurse document on everything about my skin like spider veins on my right calf or my pores were "swollen". I definitely got the impression she was more into the cosmetic aspect of dermatology. She tried to tell me that I should look into their sunscreen which I'm sure is not cheap. I told her I use Neutrogena on my face and she advised that it probably does not have zinc in it which is incorrect. She found one irregular mole on my back and I was appalled that she immediately wanted to do inner and outer sutures. As stated before I have been to several dermatologists and they ALL just shave it off for a biopsy first. I asked her if she could just shave it off instead of doing stitches and she obliged but I could tell she was irritated that I was undermining her. But I feel she was just wanted to do sutures because it would mean more money in her pocket. If someone has never been to a dermatologist before they would have agreed to it but I was not comfortable with this procedure. The nurse kindly shaved the mole off and I just got the results and it was BENIGN!! She wanted to do stitches on something she did not even know what it was. I will not be back to Dr. Pena and I highly advise anyone else to be cautious going to her. read more
