    Kori's K9's Dog Training

Kori is fantastic, my family has known her over a year she has even trained my moms disability dog…read morefrom day one. Our dogs have done group classes, privates and even live-in training with Kori. She is very educated in dog behavior, she is gentle and takes each personality into consideration. We have a year old German Shepard mix named Lobo that we got from Mexico at four months old. He has always had extreme anxiety issues and we have never understood why he becomes so anxious. We even did several years of training with both of our dogs at a different facility and lost a ton of money with minimal results. Then we met Kori!! The most incredible results with Kori came from a series of three days Lobo stayed with Kori and her fur babies. Her pack totally accepted Lobo and she was so devoted to finding some solutions and reasoning towards Lobos actions. Lobo has horrible anxiety, does a ton of mouthing and is very protective of his pack. We learned from Kori that lobo acts this way due to the wild dog he is likely descendant of. Kori taught us a whole heap of tips and tricks to help us help Lobo. We also were having huge problems with my sisters dog attacking our smaller dog Dory. This attacking went on for weeks and we couldn't figure out why every time my sisters dog came in the house she went straight at Dory. Kori did a home visit, walked in and in 15 minutes of watching the five dogs interact she told us exactly what was starting the reaction, why and how scary it was due to how and where my dog was being attacked. Needless to say the news wasn't good but if it wasn't for Kori's extensive knowledge of dog behavior we never would have figured out why and may have lost my pup. Kori is a vital and loved member of our pack and I will never stop being great-full and amazed by her knowledge of animals.

My boyfriend and I learned recently that WAIF has a SPECTACULAR REPUTATION through neighbors as we chat with them about our recent adoption. They rescue animals on the island. One of our neighbors took me to the kitty cottage in Freeland next to the Healthy Pet shop. It's adorable. They do what they can with what they have as a non-profit organization and they do it so well. They keep their facilities clean and TAKE GOOD CARE OF THE PETS THEY RESCUE it appears. They work across the island. They have guidelines and seem careful about who is adopting and the kind of environment the adopters will be giving to the pets. The staff is obviously super caring. They have tons of information too. After seeing and hearing about WAIF, I can't help but spread the news about them and recommend them highly.

This place is awful. To deny a loving home to a beautiful animal because a staff person wants the…read moreanimal and can't take another one home, she is more than happy to keep the animal in a cage! I understand that COVID took a toll on staff members and shelters in the country, but to create such difficulty to adopt an animal is disgusting and wrong. I made the trek to Whidbey to go meet the animal, I knew it was just a meet. A test result needed to come back before the animal could be taken home. I totally connected with the animal and was very excited to begin another journey with a fur baby. Feeling good and couldn't wait - for the call that she would be mine the following week. Instead I was woken up Sunday at 8 a.m., this staff member telling me, this isn't going to happen. The animal was going to be too much for me. I wasn't the right fit, not a good match. Asking....would that be okay? WTF? I was so upset. Especially since the animal is still available 3 weeks later. Another review below, the same: "This place obviously doesn't want to find a home for its animals and would rather just keep them in cages and indoors."

Sarah is lovely. She gave my 3-year-old cat, Benjamin, a cat massage today. Benjamin took to her…read moreright away. I could see by his face that he was enjoying his massage. How cute! What an adorable business! Sarah has a calming, pleasant manner that put my cat at ease. It is nice that Sarah does house calls, since my cat is most comfortable in his home environment. Sarah is very aware of, respectful towards, and responsive to my cat's reactions to her massage strokes. She didn't try to force anything, and she gave my cat breaks when he wanted them. My cat particularly loved the cheek / behind the ear part of his massage. Sarah also went above and beyond simply massaging my cat - she initiated a great dialogue with me about why my cat could possibly have been acting stressed out lately. She asked if we recently had anyone move in to our neighborhood. The answer was yes. She asked if the new neighbors - who live right across the street - happen to have a dog. They do! She asked if Benjamin Kitty looks out the living room picture windows a lot, windows that look out over the house across the street. The answer to that was yes, too. She said this may be causing Benjamin Kitty stress. I wouldn't even have thought of that! That is very insightful! Sarah has an intake process which you can complete either online prior to the appointment or in-person when she arrives. The intake questions were comprehensive and thorough. Sarah has a way with my cat. I can tell he likes her. I appreciated being able to give my cat a professional pet massage! I am going to have Sarah come back next month! I think the massages will get even better the more Benjamin gets used to Sarah massaging him. Sarah left not long ago, and I have included a photo of my cat post-massage. He seems very relaxed and happy. I highly recommend Sarah if you would like to give your pet a special treat or regular healthful massages. I was willing to give it 2 or 3 tries if my cat wasn't sure about it at first, but my cat was sold after the first 5 minutes of his massage, and so was I.
