We had a smaller guest count than we'd planned for because of COVID stuff, so even though we all ate until we could barely move, there were leftovers, and let me tell you, it was not hard to give them away when we were packing up. Secondly, the food wasn't fussy. I'm sure they could do that if you wanted them to, but we wanted simple comfort food and it was perfect. Chicken & waffles, cajun shrimp in phyllo cups, ham biscuits, a beautiful vegetable tray, deviled eggs, things like that. Just delicious. Writing this review is making me hungry! The third highlight was the reasonable cost. Even at a time when a lot of caterer's were raising their prices at the last minute, Hill's Catering was very reasonably priced, and they were very good about saying, "here's the less expensive option, or if you can spend a little more we could do this," etc. The last wonderful thing is Mrs. Nita Hill herself. From the first email, I felt like I had a planning partner I could trust. I even hugged her when I finally met her in person, and people, I am not a hugger. She is super conscientious, a great communicator, and a heck of a cook. All the other details were just as they should be: they showed up in plenty of time, brought plenty of help, got to work, brought extras everything we might need, checked in often, and left the place spotless. My daughter was missing the salad dressing that she ordered. I opened my salad bowl and it was only half full! I offered to take our order back and have them make it right. She didn't want to make a fuss so I agreed and we ate what we had. When I arrived initially to pick up our food; I immediately recognized a familiar scenario. The only people at this restaurant were two teenage boys! This is always a recipe for failure! No adults around! I was in a hurry and at least saw that there were two bowls. The message for me for the day was don't call in food on the phone if you can appear in person!
