Located just south of Meadowlark Middle school, the park has ample parking, an EV charging station, a pavilion that can be reserved, picnic tables, grills, a dog park, and plenty of green areas to run around. Multiple paths also lead to the Muddy Creek Greenway where walkers, bicyclists, roller bladers and runners are welcome. Restrooms are also available at the pavilion. This park pretty much checks all the necessary boxes. My wife and I parked here to walk the greenway and then sat at the pavilion on a lovely day and just enjoyed the sights and sounds. Simplicity has its advantages!

They have a snack bar that looked like they a a big selection of offerings but we had pizza for the party so I did not sample. Throughout the time I was there they had organized games on the rink that was a blast for the kids. They were able earn something to trade in for prizes. It has kids play area, for adults there is a big field for sports and courts for pickle ball and tennis. Across the street are short trails that run by a creek and goes about a mile. The trail goes straight with a few ways to branch off. There is a short bridge that goes over the creek and ends near the Silas Creek area. Along that trail is an open field and a small stand of bamboo trees to seek a little shade. The main trail ends at a busy road and there is another trail on the other side of this road. If you get tired there are a few benches scattered in different parts of the trail for resting, reading or enjoying the surroundings. The benches have plaques dedicated to family loved ones but my fave is the bench plaque that simply says "Pay it Forward"..... Food for thought while sitting there.

Lots of rails and bars and ramps to roll up and down. Lots of open space to ensure that no one gets moving all too quickly. Nothing significantly elevated to a point that Tony Hawk would be feeling challenged in any way. But it is cool and it's a near spot. There is a skate park and a disc golf course in this park as well as a large pavilion. There are (steep) steps up to the road just behind the Virginia Museum of Natural History. When I stopped by, there were bikes, scooters and rollerbladers rolling along and defying gravity. We ended up trying this park out because we heard it was awesome for kids who love to climb. It's even fenced in and has some shaded areas, in addition to several picnic tables. My biggest disappointment here is all the rules and signage in place that I feel takes away from kids being able to be kids, especially at a playground! The landscaping set up was a poor choice when it comes to the location and expectation for it to be kept in order. It's not set up with children in mind. Definitely can't play hide and seek behind the bushes or pick flowers for your mom or you'll get yelled at by the property and grounds staff. If your child is fascinated by nature I wouldn't recommend coming here. You'll get the side eye just for looking at the trees. You'll just have to see for yourself and it will make more sense. And not being able to bring your bikes or scooter or sidewalk chalk?? I've never seen these kinds of rules at a park. There is so much sidewalk and smooth paved areas, it would be perfect for all of those things!! But they seem to care more about looks than functionality and it being a safe space for kids to be free. Anyways like I said nice features but I don't think this place was designed from a child's perspective and them being able to have fun.

Hey, what do ya know!? Another beautiful park in the Triad! This one is closely located to main…read moreroads, but removed enough to enjoy the nature while wrangling your kids along! This park has a walking trail that is paved and stroller friendly, and a couple of playgrounds intersect this on either side. Looks like one playground also contains a splash pad, but this was closed off when we went. Not sure if because it was still early in the season or if it's still shut down due to the pandemic. On the other side of the parking lot is a unique outside gym area with several pieces of equipment. Elliptical, stepper, pull-up bars, resistance trainers, and signage accompanying with instructions. This is under a canopy and looks well maintained. Adjacent to this is also a court area for playing horseshoes and pétanque. They also host a friendly and free pétanque league here! I had to look up what pétanque was, and seems like it's very similar to bocce ball. I might join up this summer! They gather on Sunday afternoons.
