I recently graduated from this college & it's the best decision I've made! All great experiences from all the teachers & staff! Mrs. Mora & Ms. Furbay were my favorite! I was in the medical assistant program & the Dean helped me switch from night time classes to day classes very quickly at my request, it was something that was in my best interest at the time & she was so helpful & would always get back to me! After externship I got hired on at the extern site! My career advisor Yannet is the best! She helped me with getting me ready for graduation along with securing my job from extern! Do not go here unless you want to waste your money and time. You will not get a job as easy as they say especially since every one attending the school gets their resumes sent out to same places as yours. You will be paying for a certificate and a training card with no real knowledge as you hardly do any training or book work. It's harder if you work a full time job as well. You are better off getting a degree from community college or just trying to get a job and everything else in your own. I am now in debt and haven't been able to get a reliable electrical job that pays enough to cover these tuition payments/federal loans. read more

When I went here in 2018 that was really the best time. The teachers were great. They cared about the students. The dean and faculty were all truly amazing. I'm writing this review now though because I've been sitting here reading the reviews on how this school has gone downhill. For example, I've been sitting here on hold for 7:25 and we'll see if by the time I'm done writing this, they pick up or not. So: 1. Oh I've gone into the school with my daughter when she was looking at going. (I still have my school loans from here but we'll come back to that later). I told them I was not paying anything out of pocket or taking a loan out for her because she no longer lives at home. The financial aid lady was so freaken pushy and would not take no for answer. I reiterated that was NOT taking out another loan. The history with my daughter and I was something personal and I wasn't taking that on. But still she persisted I take out a parent loan. Absolutely not. 2. When you go in, the girls at the front desk hardly acknowledge you. You have questions? Need help? Want to be addressed? Well forget it because they will finish doing what they're doing first all while giving snarky looks and ignoring you until they're ready to ask you if you need help. There's definitely a sense of bias and judgement once you step foot through those doors. Not the vibe that was there in 2018. 3. I did the Clinical Medical Assisting program. Again, this was in 2018. I loved every single one of my teachers and the lady in the library. Everyone was helpful. Although, I was looking into nursing recently, and a few other programs to help expand my knowledge on what I want to do. The prices they are charging for an AA is insane!!! I agree with all the other comments, go to your community college. It'll work with your schedule. You have more liberty to work and do school. When I went I was a single mom, doing school during the day and working evenings. It was ROUGH! 4. Final note, I've been on hold now for 14 mins. Someone will pick up and then put me back on hold. I have worked reception and registration I know what that sounds like when you're ignoring calls. I've literally seen people do it. When you can't even get in touch with a campus for 15 mins that should tell you everything you need to know. And this is me waiting without someone picking up to even simply say, "SJVC this is so and so, may I place you on a brief hold," like whaaaat?! But yeah, save your money. Don't do it. I was able to defer my loans because of the pandemic. But with the cost of these programs now, look into a better school if you want a vocational school. 18 mins & still counting Just came back to say the official wait time was an hour and I hung up because that's just complete BS. read more

My time in San Joaquin Valley College for the Pharmacy Technician Program was magnificent. The curriculum was organized, the classes prepared me, and the professors were professionals in their fields, which caused me to be at ease with my career pursuits. Yannet, my Career Services Advisor, did a great job and was one of the best parts of working with SJVC. She has been so sweet with me, so understanding, and so amazing as always. She helped me with everything that needed help and made everything more pleasant than how it seemed. The support that she provided was amazing and helped me so much. Try and give SJVC a shot; you won't regret having done it. The instructors are truly invested in their work and the education you receive from them is of the highest quality. Not worth it after completing my course and putting myself in huge debt .... SJVC does not care for there students and only care about your money I had advisors, counselors , etc constantly calling and emailing me to set my financial aid payments up after that I never received anything not even a congrats for my last day of school they make you ring a bell do all this extra when you first sign up because they got you and once your done with your course they make you wait another 3-4 months to even graduate ??? When they make it seem so nice for you in the beginning ANY ONE WHO WANTS TI JOIN ELECTRICAL look for a company that's going to help/ pay for you to go to school do not get scammed I was lucky enough to already be working in the field but my classmates have been struggling for the fact sjvc tries to get you hired on to a job that needs 3-5 year experience which nobody has ...BIG JOKE read more

School was great, I enrolled in their Maintenance Technology program for certification only. Learned everything I needed an graduated, but when it came down to "helping our students find work" it's just bs they don't help, I graduated back in May of 2024 and tried to look for positions myself but it's highly competitive or they're seeking a lot of experience. My "Career Advisor" was changed a few times and they kept sending me offers for jobs that had nothing to do with what I learned at the school. read more

This School it not worth the money or your time. They do not fall through on there end with helping you find a job and when you choose how far you want to travel you get tolled by the staff you are picky even though the job is over 3hrs away they don't care they will force you to sign a paper stating that your current job you have is because of them, once you sign it they ghost you and not even respond anymore to your text or emails. This school is a complete SCAM!!!!! do not waste your money all the classmates I went to school with have not gotten a job and the school has done nothing to help anyone out. They don't care they lie to you about the certifications you get and you are going to use your tools throughout the 10 months that was a lie. The Dean and staff are extremely unprofessional. The way they speak to there students is a disgrace. I don't know how long they have been treating there students with such disrespect but all of the "adults" allowing this to happen to students should be ashamed of themselves. 4 stars bc I loved it here when Ms Christy & Ms Sheila were the teachers best ladies ever! Things took a weird turn when they sadly got rid of Ms Sheila :( The next mods weren't the same without her but I was so happy to have Ms Christy! These two ladies were the best MA teachers, HANDS DOWN! not sure why they replaced Ms Sheila, such a disappointment. Honestly, a lot of weird tension when Ms F took over, the students she had were always so rude in our class & were always gossiping & spreading rumors & acting like they were in middle school. Her class was so unprofessional. Sucks because all the classes got along so well before. Not sure if it was her influence or if she was just unlucky to have those students because they were too much. The counselors were amazing too! Overall, I loved it here. Just my last mods were filled with unprofessional, gossipy students & then the replacement of Ms Sheila left a sour taste in my mouth. read more

Don't do it even if you're desperate, it is not worth it. Especially if you're over the age of 25. Go to your local junior college, otherwise you'll be paying back your student loan on a $21 an hour income.. If you're lucky. I went for industrial maintenance and 2 years later, haven't worked a single maintenance job. Either they don't pay enough, or it's not the correct certificate (most jobs are looking for "electro-mechanic"). $21 is the average starting rate for industrial maintenance IF you can find a position. Then you have to pass tests just to be considered that this school doesn't prepare you for. Plus most times you have to provide your own tools which can easily cost in the hundreds if not thousands of dollars. For a $21 hour job. Keep in mind most entry level warehouse jobs are paying $18-21, without the weight of a student loan. With all this being said; this school doesn't teach you much, but really. They're taking your money and releasing you into the workforce with very basic knowledge that you can easily find on the internet yourself. Go to a junior college, or go into a job that will pay for your schooling. Stay away from trade schools ESPECIALLY SJVC. read more

It used to be my favorite school. I've completed my front office and a degree here, but they don't seem to care anymore. They have let go of some of the best teachers here, which sucks, and we used to have an actual teacher work in the library to help us. The students aren't very welcoming in the library either . If they wanted to hire a student, they should have started with someone who finished the program, so at least they know what they are doing. I came here to do my AA degree work asked for help, and they were clueless and had to go to a teacher for help I had to go to my teacher's class to get help. Thank god that was the last mod. I was going to go for my bachelor program, but I changed my mind because they don't care anymore like they used to. I asked my advisor for more info on the bachelor program, but she said it's done online. I completed that and have not heard back. It's been now three weeks it's a shame used to be such a good school wouldn't recommend it to anyone now read more

I give this rating is because of my instructor Mr. Dart. His electrical technology program is awesome he is a outstanding professional to learn from, and the other instructors were great to especially Mr. Miller. The program is solid, it will teach you a lot of the basics you need as a electrician apprentice and some of the more technical things you'll learn from the instructors who've experienced it. The only issue I have with the program is that if you've not taken algebra 1 in high school or college and wanna join the ibew, the math offered in this program will not be sufficient when going to apply for a apprenticeship, and it will run you about 1400 out of pocket to take the single algebra class through the school. read more

I was walked through the process and helped the entire time I was there. I never felt stuck or lost. I enjoyed my time there very very much.

Update: I spoke with a friend who attends here and she will graduate only making $12!?!?!?!?!?RIP OFF CITY!!!Reconsider going here and get your AA, BA, or Masters Degree instead, because you will probably only make JUST above minimum wage. I got a job making over $20 withOUT this "certificate", which costs WAY TOO MUCH! And am now almost done with my bachelor's that cost only $6000. SJVC is NOT worth it either way you look at it. This is a really great school, the whole atmosphere and experience was the best. I've never really been a school person but once I started school here I didn't mind going at all. Now that I've completed i miss going lol but the staff and teachers are really helpful and if you ever have any questions or concerns just go talk to them and they'll definitely help you out. i attended sjvc in 2019 from january to october for the medical assistant program before covid. i can say the teachers are very nice and try very hard to help you pass. however there was a girl in my class that literally did absolutely nothing and she was doing alright. if you want advice from me do not do the medical assistant course. the money you will be making after is not worth it. i got a job through the school where i worked a year and when i left i was making 13.50$ an hour. i got paid that much at panda express right from the jumó and you don't need to be certified to become a medical assistant regardless. after covid they do mostly online classes and they do not do very well in lab training. i had to train someone we hired from sjvc in september of 2020 and she did not know how to do too much and she was nervous to do most things since quality of teaching went down due to only online classes and less lab time. If you're going to study anything just become an ultrasound tech or something they make more and it's more worth it. read more
