This restaurant still used real candles on each table and lit it when we were seated. Norwegian specialties filled the menu. We decided on two entrees: Monk fish was moist and the brown butter sauce made it tastier. A small assortment of different mushroom varieties and small potatoes rounded out the dish. The reindeer steak was cooked to a medium, was nice and tender and the lingonberries sauce to the pickled onions complemented every bite. Service was quite good throughout and empty water vases replaced with full on a regular basis. Would definitely come back here again. As the quality of food and prices were good.

Adriatic Cafe+ is unique, independent and outstanding value. Just the way I like it :) Adriatic make fantastic Balkan food, that alone should hopefully get your attention as I cannot think of many cities in Europe where you can experience this amazing type of food. Its kind of a cross between Turkish / Greek and everything good in between. We stopped by for lunch having visited Oslo over a long weekend and I wish we had discovered this place sooner. They didn't have an English menu and not being familiar with Balkan food we struggled to pick out many dishes. Fortunately, the staff were really helpful and translated a number of things for us. We order the delightful feta burek, which is almost like a British style flaky pastry pie, the Cevapi, which are like mini beef sausage kebabs inside a fresh, hot pide style flat bread, chicken kebab and a shopska salad. When the food arrived we were instantly taken aback by the size of the portions and the quality of the food. Everything was so delicious and fresh and to make matters even better, it was the cheapest place by far that we had found in Oslo. I also discovered a new food in the form of Kajmak which was an accompaniment to the Cevapi. Its kind of like a soft, Philadelphia type cheese, but lighter and much more flavoursome. Anyway, it complemented the meat wonderfully and I just couldn't get enough of it. This restaurant is a perfect spot for a nice lunch or cheap dinner. It definitely needs your attention, so go check it out!

Where to start!?! The friendliest waitress that we were served by across our whole trip. Keen to help, chatty, efficient and explained the menu to us. Decor of the place was nice, open and bright. It is selling Balkan dishes and goes for a costal type feel with wooden ornaments dotted about the place. Now the two most important bits. The food is really really cheap for Norway and would even be considered good value on the UK. If your in Oslo and your sick of the high prices, get yourself along here and treat yourself at bargain pricing. The food itself was really really tasty. Great kebabs in lovely flat bread, amazing cheese & tomato salad and beautiful local pie style dishes. (All the actual dish names we had are on Rocco G's review if you want to check them out) I love this place and would go regularly if it was in Glasgow. If your a Oslo local you need to start giving it some love. If your a tourist you should check it out for lunch or dinner. You will not be disappointed.

This is definitely a cozy place to bring your family, your in laws or just some friends who do not mind venturing outside of the city for some really well tasting food!! I love sporting local restaurants, especially when it is a place I have grown up visiting with my parents and grandparents, and that might be one of the reasons I adore this place. The other reason I love Villa Sandvigen is because of the super delicious food, particularly their brown-cheese ice cream desert. Villa Sandvigen have been owned by a few different people, who all have cherished and developed the place into what it is today. A family friendly and local pearl. Their menu might be smaller than a lot of places, but just big enough for everyone to find something tasteful. Last I was here was for mothers day and they had a wonderful three course dinner special. We were greeted in the door by the owner, and catered by her throughout most of our meal. The other waiters were all very polite, expect one lady who kept bringing us someone else's food and really did not listen when we said that it was not ours. Definitely recommend their steak, it is cooked perfectly to your liking, and their potatoes and homemade béarnaise sauce, YUMMMM!!! They will split the dish for you if you want to share it with someone, especially children, and they go beyond to make you happy at Villa Solvigen!
