I'm new to town and desperately needed a color correction in my hair. I visited a salon a week prior and ended up going from bright blonde to ash brown all over. I panicked and tried to bleach my own hair a few days after it was colored brown. I was left with hot roots, orange and yellow hair. Liz was kind enough to allow me to send photos of my current hair to her, along with 'inspiration' photos for what I was looking for. She also reassured me that no matter what, it was going to be OK! I am so happy with the haircut I got a few days ago. I believe it was the owner who cut it. I couldn't believe how great the cut was considering how fast she did it. Let me just start this by saying I haven't gone to a real salon in a couple of years. I always hated going and feeling awkward making idle chat with some stranger who would in turn normally give me a haircut that looked pretty much identical to when I went in. I was looking for a change in a big way though this last Saturday and am not regretting it a bit now. I entered Sizzors not sure what to expect but was greeted by a warm welcoming atmosphere with a waterfall in the next room. When I sat down with Cassie all I had to do was tell her I wanted some color and to do something with this (as I flopped my hair out of its ponytail). She knew just what to do and we spent the entire time laughing. The way the store is laid out is great as well since the normal hair salons I've been in have always been open air with one chair next to the other. At Sizzors they have individual rooms with 2 chairs each in them which really did help the intimate feel of the place. I never did get to see the back, but she said there were separate rooms for massages and manicures/pedicures (which also meant none of that "nail funk smell" where you get your hair cut, like you get at some places). She did an amazing job with my hair which I have been getting nonstop compliments on. And as a nice touch, sent a postcard to my home just a couple days later just thanking me for stopping by. I would absolutely go back again and recommend everyone I know to the place. read more

Yet again another issue with this company and/or business owner. I received an email saying the review was being requested to be removed THREE years after I wrote it. Clearly some issues going on here if they are wasting time on something such as removing an old review. I am in no way frustrated with Yelp, or the review process, as in general I find Yelp to be right on target with the service I receive in reference to the number of "stars" a business has on this site. I am frustrated that a business such as this one would do what they initially did, read above review, respond the unprofessional way they did both on here and to my personal email, and then try to remove my review three years after the fact. I feel consumers have the right to know the service experience I received as this is literally the purpose of Yelp. Perhaps if Sizzors had reached out to me directly and professionally I would have been willing to remove or edit the review. Instead they further frustrated this consumer and cause me to write an updated review. Hopefully Sizzors can someday realize that we live in an age where technology causes word of mouth to go above and beyond where it could ever have previously. Hopefully this will be the last time I feel it necessary to update a review for this company! I implore Sizzors to review their behavior as it appears to the public. read more

Horrible experience! I showed the stylist a picture of what I wanted and told her what kind of cut I wanted. The picture had actual instructions on it of what was done to the models hair. I asked for a long bob cut, which I would think is pretty basic. They stylist asked me what color my roots should be and did not seem confident at all in what she was doing. The color I ended up with was nothing like the picture I showed her and the haircut wasnt even a standard bob cut. Then I was hit with a $225 price tag! When I called to speak with the owner about my experience, she wasn't even apologetic that I wasnt happy and told me it was my responsibility to discuss pricing. She wanted me to come back to have the same stylist redo my hair and when i told her I didn't want that stylist to touch my hair again, she said there was nothing she would do then. I asked her for a refund and she refused. I also told her, her customer service sucks and she flat out told me "no it doesnt". I will never go back and will tell everyone I can to stay away from this place! read more

In July 2011 my sister was married in Lawrence, KS. While she was having her hair done by a friend who is a pro stylist, our mom, grandma, aunt and I needed to find a place to have our hair done. About a month prior to the wedding I started making phone calls to various Lawrence area salons. The salon that I was initially referred to by my sister's in-laws was already booked for another wedding. I checked the yelp reviews for several other local salons and made a list of salons to call. Sizzors was the first salon that I could actually get through to. One salon's phone just rang and rang and a couple more were closed. I explained what we wanted to have done to the girl who answered the phone. She was very nice and confirmed that they would be able to accommodate us. She promptly sent an email confirming our appointments. Two days prior to the appointment I received an email appointment reminder which indicated that Cassie would be taking care of us. Upon arrival at the salon we were greeted by the woman manning the front desk (I can't remember her name for the life of me!) and offered beverages. The salon was decorated nicely and spotlessly clean. They had lots of fun jewelry and trinkets for sale that we could browse through. Cassie did a wonderful job on our hair! She was extremely professional, and was very lively and animated, making for a fun experience for us all. She was able to give us all exactly what we wanted, and the hairstyles lasted all night. We were the only clients in the salon, so we were able to sit by Cassie's workstation as she did all of our hair. The woman working the front desk was also very attentive, chatting with us and making sure we all had drinks and whatever else we needed. Oh, and did I mention our drinks were served in nice glass goblets? So many times you go to a salon and drinks are served in Styrofoam or paper cups. What a nice touch! If I am ever in Lawrence again and in need of hair services I will definitely go back to Sizzors! read more

"Hey dad, how about a FAMILY SPA DAY for your birthday!" says my 17 yr. old daughter. Uh, OK, I say. She asks if I want a manicure. "No, I bite my nails. I have no nails, that'd be a waste." She asks if I want a mud pack. "Really? I don't think this face at my age is going to derive much help from that." A haircut? "Nah, I have someone already that takes care of me." So, while my girls got manicures, pedicures and other things guys like me that watch basketball games and drink beer with their buddies don't know about, I opted for a 90 minute massage augmented by occasional hot stones by "Danielle." And what a great job she did! The way she uses hot stones they almost feel like hot lubricant, and they use hot towels to remove the massage oil. Heavenly. As the recipient of hundreds of massages over the years I'd strongly recommend her to anyone and intend to return in the near future to repeat that luxurious experience. After that, I stumbled out half asleep and got a pedicure that was equally enjoyable (only my third one ever that I can recall). So, 2.5 hours and a lot of personal doting on the three of us followed up by a nice lunch at home. Way more fun than we've all had as a family in awhile. Will we return? For sure. I like the vibe here, as does my family. The people working here are friendly and know their business. My girls had been here before and raved about it. It was my first trip and now I understand the appeal. My daughter already said this should be a new family tradition. I think I could handle that. Oh, yea, and I got to pay the bill. Ouch. Kirby was great. Gave me great suggestions on helping my hair grow out and general care for fine hair. However I did get the feather extensions and one feather broke, and then the whole extension slid out 2 days later. I'd go back for hair care, but $40 for a feather extension that came out wasn't worth it. read more

They say they are swamped and can get me in no later than 3:00, but it's almost 3:30 and I am still waiting, after speeding here from work to not be late for them "squeezing me in" -- it is like this everyone I am here, and I have no idea why I keep coming back. I would not recommend this Salon. Got an appt with Susan Kliever last friday (9/7/2018), because my regular stylist at The Loft could not get me in for a last minute appt before I had to head out of town. I had been growing my hair out for 2 years...it was almost down to my bra strap with layers on the bottom 2 inches. I asked Susan if maybe she could layer it up a bit further to make it feel a bit fuller . She proceeded to basically give me a shag cut with the the shortest layer being just below the top of my ear...I looked like I had a bowl on my head with the underneath layer hanging thinly below. I made a comment that "wow, it seemed really short on the top and I wasn't sure how she was going to blend the bottom with the top" She told me not to worry, but that she would need to cut off another two inches to get it to blend properly. Then she "thinned" out the top of my hair, and kind of tried to layer the bottom to blend with the top. It looked awful...I honestly have never had such a horrible hair cut. She then tried to style it emphasizing the bowl look. I should have said something then, but honestly, who wants someone who has hacked away at your hair to try and fix it???!!! I paid (second mistake) and left. I was out of town for the weekend and just kept my hair pulled and pinned up. When I got back in town I went to my regular stylist who had to take another two inches off and then tried to shape the whole mess. My hair is now above my shoulders in somewhat of a bob. Guess I'm starting over to grow it out. I called Scizzors and left a message to speak to the owner. She did call me back. left a message saying that per her policy she did not issue refunds, and that it was pretty hard for her to talk during the day because she was so busy. I did call back a couple of times leaving messages that I would like to talk to her. She did offer me a $45 in store credit...lol, which makes no sense. I have NO intentions of stepping foot in that place again, and I will be spreading the word. I've learned my lesson. read more

I have never been treated worse by anyone in my life than I was by the manager of this establishment. The prices listed on their website are completely inaccurate because they APPARENTLY also charge by the half hour and by the length of your hair. If it is past your bra, expect the coloring service price to double. Even if you get an inexperienced, slow stylist, expect to pay double for the service (EVEN FOR THE HAIRCUT) if it takes longer than it is scheduled to. Expect an $80 service to actually end up costing you $200 (THAT IS NO JOKE!). After being ripped off, expect that they WILL NOT accept anything but a debit card so the charges are nearly impossible to dispute. Then, when trying to reason with the manager, expect her to tell you that you and your mother are rude and that if you don't like the pricing then try supercuts next time. I also heard from a friend that worked there once that the manager made her work on Saturdays and then didn't pay her for her work. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!!! read more

I hired Sizzors Inc to do all the hair and make up for my wedding party and I had a large wedding party including 5 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, and of course myself. The first part was just how amazing and professional both Becky and Kirby were. They came and set up all the things they would need to get all of the girls ready - By the way, I LOVED that they came to the venue to get us ready. Both Becky and Kirby did the hair and make-up for the bridesmaids and mothers first and I have to say, the girls looked AMAZING. All of my bridesmaids have long hair and I have short hair and the way they coordinated each of the girls styles so they complimented each other and me. Not an easy feat! By the time it was my turn to get ready, I was a nervous wreck. Kirby did my make up and she was such a calming, warm and caring person, she put me at ease immediately. Making me laugh and forgiving me for being shaky. Then Becky did my hair - I am always nervous when someone does my hair as I have very fine hair and obviously wanted my hair to look amazing on my special day. I was blown away how Becky just knew how to work with my hair and it was like she had seen the picture in my mind how I wanted it to look. Once my hair and make-up was done, they went even further. They hepled me get into my wedding dress and were so careful and concerned for me, not to mess up my hair but they truly cared that I didn't get a touch of makeup on my dress. I will say that Sizzors Inc made the before the wedding super special and it would not have been the same without them. Do not go to this place!! Over priced and has poorly trained employees! I got eye lash extension which I payed $130 for and the eye lash technician glued all of my eyelashes together so as the eye lash extension came off my natural eyelashes came with it. 75% of my eye lashes are now missing, and it will take weeks for them to grow back (that's if they grow back at all) read more

I ended up paying an extra $30 for my service because they didn't accept my Groupon from the app. Groupon gave me a refund when they couldn't get a hold of anyone at Sizzors. The service was ok, if somewhat down-market (smashing earphones on my head when I sat down, using towels for a wrap that had pedicure refuse on them), but I won't be back because of they manage their business in a way that is misleading and according to Groupon, violated the merchant agreement they signed with them. read more
