DO NOT RENT FROM SIXT, they rent out unsafe/damaged vehicles, don't care about their consumers, and run you around in circles to give your problem to the next person. We rented an SUV from Sixt at the San Antonio International Airport on Wednesday 11/26 to drive our family to Dallas for Thanksgiving. We inspected the vehicle, documented any little dents or dings, but did not feel the need to get on the ground and look underneath(as I don't usually get on the ground in public parking lots). Upon making it Wednesday night, our neighbors sent us a photo of a sizable oil stain in our driveway where the rental had been parked for about 3 hours(first picture). We called Sixt first thing in the morning, notified them of the issue, and were told by a representative that an exchange had been initiated and to give the branch 2 hours to have another SUV available for us. Upon arrival we were informed that they actually didn't have any cars, after a little pushback and background we were told they DID have a car but it was full electric and not of comparable size. We then spoke with the manager, Ms. Ciara Brown and were promised if we came back first thing the next morning(Friday, 11/28- the day we were supposed to be traveling home) that they would DEFINITELY have a vehicle for us as early as 6am and would include a free upgrade for the inconvenience, as well as a discount. Since she wouldn't be present she wrote it on our reference slip(pictured). Upon arrival Friday morning at 7am(2nd oil stain pictured)we were told that there were no vehicles and that if we waited till noon that MAYBE they could get us into a car. We called customer service and got sent around in circles after asking to escalate the issue. At this point we were told by Len that they DID have several cars, but were not available to us by even the upgrade promised by Ciara the manager the previous day. This is our first time renting with Sixt and I can't say we'll make that choice again. I understand the holiday season is a busy time but an over booking is not my fault, and clearly wasn't the issue here as there were several vehicles available. Additionally, I was made to feel like an inconvenience by the Dallas representatives as if it was my fault I was given a car that was leaking oil. I will note all of the representatives we spoke with were professional and kind, it just seemed as though none of them were on the same page and were all just saying whatever they could to continue to push the problem off to the next person, or the next day.

Worst rental experience ever. Even though I had a confirmed reservation, they refused to rent me a car. I booked a luxury sedan, but since they didn't have one available, they wouldn't give me an SUV--even though plenty were sitting on the lot. The staff was extremely rude on top of it all. Completely unprofessional and a total waste of time. Avoid this company.

When I returned later that morning, I was then informed that the car still wasn't ready. Because of this, my wife and I wasted an entire day of leave -- and anyone in the military knows how valuable that time is and how unacceptable it is to have it wasted due to poor communication and lack of preparation. To make matters worse, I was told I would be receiving a credit to make up for the inconvenience, but that never happened either. This experience showed a complete lack of professionalism, respect for customers' time, and follow-through on their own promises. I will not be returning, and I would strongly caution others against using this shop.

Upon arriving at the desk, there were only a couple people in front of him and multiple clerks working the desk so waiting was not a problem like many reviewers said. Phew. Unfortunately, he felt beaten down by the upselling. Remember, he paid already... asking about an upgrade. No. Asking about additional insurance (even more than he paid for through Priceline). No. Etc. He said they asked him for multiple things and wouldn't take no for an answer and had to say no at least 3x for each thing they suggested. He understands they want to make money but he paid for what he wanted and just wanted to get the car he picked online. Period. He used words as "obnoxious" and "annoying" when describing the scenario. Needless to say, he was happy with the price from Priceline but wishes to avoid the upselling in the future. Unfortunately, 2-stars due to the hassle from the clerk.

I made a reservation through the Hertz app. I was contacted by text and email in the days prior to my arrival (mostly to upsell me ) but also had some important information. One important piece of information was that I could skip the lines and head directly to the car lot. There, I would find a list of names and you find your name and they tell you where your car is. I had "presidential circle" by my name which I never heard of before, but it allowed me to choose any car I wanted from two rows. We deliberated and checked out different models before finding one we wanted. It had 5 miles on it. No worries about brake and tire wear! And then we left. So easy. They scan the car and your drivers license at the exit gate. Could not have been smoother.

We were greeted by a sympathetic team member Gerry (Jerry) sorry didn't catch the spelling, who helped my wife and I get situated and was awesome BTW. I had left my phone, unbeknownst to me, at the welcome booth and was looking all over for it while we were waiting to exit and another team member(sry didn't catch his name) ran it over to us and did so with a smile. Really felt like it was above and beyond as they were busy with other customers. Upon returning the car, Jasmine, Jeff, Tyler and another man that I didn't catch the name of, were courteous, helpful and again going above and beyond, helped me with the second leg of my journey. For a work portion I had rented a different level car (cheaper for my company). I asked how much it would be to keep the car I currently had. I was told that they would allow me to use the current car at the price I had agreed to for the lower model. It's probably not a big deal to them, but not having to move all of our stuff and keeping the car that we were enjoying made a huge impact on us. Thanks SAT team. You did a phenomenal job.

I had a free rental day from points, leaving me a balance of $10 & some change. On check-in, (which I couldn't do online this time for some reason), the friendly agent confirmed the free day, amount in taxes, rental times, car type & insurance info. Driver's license & credit card on file, no additional deposit charged. I booked directly with enterprise online. We headed to the lot & were directed to our car with the keys inside, proceeded to the gate where the id was checked and we were on our way - total 10min. The car was as expected... actually, scratch that. We weren't expecting heated seats & were greeted with a toasty surprise when we hopped in on this uncharacteristically chilly day in TX. Return signage was clear & it was easy to navigate. It was the first time we've had the car inspected with reflective disks on return to check for hidden hood dings.. They must take damages seriously. We were clear though, so, all good in my book. Email rcpt was in my box by the time we hit the gate. Well worth $10 for a 24hr visit to my hometown!

Does anyone pre-book a rental car only to show up at the location to be told they don't have any…read morecars, and they didn't honor their reservation? Because that's exactly what happened to me with Thrifty Car Rental at the San Antonio airport. I had a confirmed reservation (Confirmation #L4161609690) for a mid-grade vehicle, guaranteed with my credit card. In the days leading up to my trip, I received multiple emails and text messages from Thrifty assuring me that even if my flight was delayed, my car would be held because the reservation was guaranteed. Fast forward to Thanksgiving Day. I arrive at the rental counter after my flight, only to be told they had no cars available. No apology. No solution. No alternative. Just "we don't have anything" and essentially, you're out of luck--on a holiday, at an airport, after midnight. Both the customer service agent and the manager on duty were rude, dismissive, and completely uninterested in helping. Their explanation? That the system sends out "blanket texts" and emails. Apparently, those messages don't mean anything--even though it's the same computer system they were actively using to tell me I had no car. So let me get this straight: Thrifty's system is reliable enough to send repeated messages promising my car would be available Reliable enough to take and "guarantee" my reservation with my credit card Reliable enough that if I hadn't shown up, I'm certain my card would've been charged But somehow not reliable enough to actually honor a confirmed, guaranteed reservation? That's not a "computer issue." That's a business failure. Thankfully, Budget Rental actually came through and had a vehicle available when Thrifty did not--on Thanksgiving Day, no less. Budget saved my trip. Thrifty nearly ruined it. The entire purpose of pre-booking and guaranteeing a rental with a credit card is peace of mind. Thrifty offers none. What they offer instead is false reassurance, poor customer service, and zero accountability when they fail to deliver. If you're traveling for a holiday, a special event, or frankly any trip where you actually need a car, do yourself a favor and do not book with Thrifty. A "guaranteed" reservation with them clearly means nothing. Thrifty owes me more than an apology--they owe me a free mid-grade rental at any of their locations to make up for the stress, inconvenience, and complete failure to honor a confirmed reservation. Until then, I'll be actively discouraging anyone I know from ever booking with them.

We took pictures of existing vehicle damage though. There was a noticeable dog smell present in the car, how do you take pictures of a scent? While purchasing food items for our stay, we bought some car air fresheners to try to help but the scent was noticeable every time we got in the vehicle. Now over 2 weeks later they are charging us almost 500 for biohazzard. We flew in, we did not have a dog with us at any time. I will definitely never rent from them again and will actively try to dissuade families coming for BMT to avoid dealing with this car rental company.

I went ahead and wrote to customer service. Why? I agreed to pay $3.13 a gallon prepay for gas. Yes, I sure did. Do I really care about the dollar? I do not. I care that they are so craptastic at customer service that even their prepaid gas prices aren't right. I digress. I emailed customer service to complain about the entire experience. I got a form letter response only addressing one issue. The issue they chose to address was that I AGREED to the prepaid gas price, so I was entitled to no refund, as stated in my contract. No. I wanted you to address the TWO AND A HALF HOUR WAIT for over ONE HUNDRED PEOPLE to stand in line for a car where they DID NOT RENT CARS because you are MORONS. So, I replied again. Yes, as my first email said, I don't really give a crap about my $1 in overpayment on prepaid gas. I am just pretty pissed with you in general and really only wanted an apology for making my 5 and 6 year old play with "suitcase toys" on a filthy airport bench for... how long again? Oh. TWO AND A HALF HOURS. Perhaps a meaningless 20% off my next rental coupon because, well, I can find cars cheaper on my own 7 days a week. This response was EVEN BETTER! It explained to me how prepaid gas WORKS! Sunshine. Honey bunches of oats and love. I have been renting cars for EIGHTEEN YEARS. I have been traveling the U.S. - alone - since before cell phones . I am very well aware of how prepaid gas works. Car seat rentals (big no). Toll passes. Insurance. All of it. ... so... I am here to simply say... if your stoopid* email CSRs could at least ATTEMPT to read what is being said in COMPLAINT emails... that would be great.
