A family member finally drove there the next day and lucky for us got the bag back, but an employee of their company took all our money, jewelry and iPad and Apple Watch! We were told at pick up that an inventory was done to the bag! what they meant is that they went shopping inside! Don't rent from them. Renters be aware if something goes wrong, they won't be there to help you!! 3weeks still no communications. Horrible! I reserved my car with a discount through USAA, and the rental cost was quite reasonable. Be aware that your US car insurance probably doesn't cover car rentals outside of the US, so you will need to accept the rental agency insurance or provide your own. I was covered through my AMEX Gold card. Rental was quick and easy and we were upgraded to BMW (full sized car) with an automatic transmission (many rentals are for standard transmission). The car was very comfortable and we had no problems with it. I highly recommend renting a car with GPS (extra cost), or bring your own GPS. I bought an SD card with a map of France for my US Garmin, and it worked very well. Also, reserve early, because this location sells out in the summer months. Turn in took about 5 minutes; very efficient. I highly recommend this rental location.

Note they do not provide any maps at all so be prepared to use the GPS in the car. Don't know how to use the GPS? Go ahead and look at the manual written in French only. Bone up on your language skills because you are on your own here folks! The good news, people are so helpful when you are lost. My vehicle had a ton of scratches on it- upon returning, they charged me for scratches on the tire's rim?!! Which I certainly didn't do and unfortunately did not have on my contract. I had the vehicle for not even 2 days and had it parked in a secure parking lot the entire time I was here! And I know for a fact that I didn't scratch any curbs, etc because I had never had anything close to the vehicle?! I've rented vehicles so many times and have never had any issues before- I have over 21 year's driving experience and have had zero accidents in the past 18?! Lastly, they were really trying to get me to buy the additional insurance etc when I was renting (now I see why!!), AND they almost charged me a supplementary fee because they thought I was only a driver for 2 years (but my license is renewed every 2 years). Do not rent from these guys if you can help it and if you do, TAKE PHOTOS of your vehicle and be ready to wait a loooong time!!! They also make you clean the car inside and out yourself. This covered the rental only. No extra charges or services were requested by us; including additional insurance. The sub-contracting rental company turned out to be HERTZ. Imagine my surprise when I received my VISA statement recently to discover an additional charge by HERTZ of 142,74 € or $183 dollars ! Following my conversation with a Auto Europe customer service representative, ( Leslie) I am filing a formal complaint requesting dismissal of all extra charges over and above the 39,25 € rail station location surcharge ,and the road fee of 3€ per day (9€ ) and am requesting an immediate reimbursement of the 94,49 €. Leslie explained that this amount represents extra insurance. Please note that at no time did I agree to extra insurance. The HERTZ representative in Aix made NO mention of insurance, did not point out on the rental agreement that he had , without authorization, checked the boxes to include insurance, and never notified us that I had signed off on extra insurance. The deliberate omission of information by the vendor resulted in a fraudulent act tricking me into signing a form that may have included extra insurance ( and I have no copy so must take your word that the contract was indeed signed ) but that I did not want and did not verbally consent to ( as no mention was ever made by the agent).

We had to pay a $1400 deposit that she said would be refunded once the car was returned. The cars there are small on purpose. They get banged up by other cars and those polls to keep cars out. And the streets are so narrow. We only had 1 person in front of us in line. The initial transaction took 10 min and we checked out the car and was on our way to Marseille. Just to mentally prepare yourself, Marseille is a crazy town of drivers and small roads. It took 2 hours to drive 17 miles due to the construction. On the return of the car, we just gassed it up, dropped it off and the lady glanced at it and told us we were done. No receipt. Nothing. I hope i get my deposit back!!
