Le Pignonet is absolutely stunning across the board. In addition to being physically beautiful (the grounds and accommodations), the food at the hotel was delicious (the breakfast buffet is what dreams are made of), the staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and the location was superb. The hotel really catches the essence of Provence and then some.

It may be officially a five star hotel because they meet certain requirements like having a restaurant or a spa, but I didn't feel like this place was quite five stars. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice place. We had a nice spacious room overlooking the garden. Since it was too off season we didn't get to enjoy the garden but we did get a preview of it. Main complaint. the bed was too hard and lumpy. Second complaint the toilet being in a separate room inside the bathroom, smelled really bad. Perhaps keeping that door closed meant that the construction smell along with all the cleaning solutions they use to do daily housekeeping on it made the smell funky in there. There is no vent of course or window inside the toilet room so it just made it bad. On the other hand, the bathroom was beautiful especially in the day when the sun would come during the day. Design was smart, there was space to put my own toiletries as well as the regular bottles they give you. They left a box of sweets in the room and some nuts. Not sure if I was charged for it, but we kept the Aix-en-Provence specialty sweets. Overall we had a good experience at this place, but I personally thought it was way to expensive - especially in the off season when there isn't much to enjoy except your room.

A beautiful piece of heaven just within walking distance of the core of Aix en Provence. Everyone's staff was most kind. Whether hanging out by the pool, playing bocce ball with a glass of rosé in tow or walking the gardens. There is a lot of fun at the hotel. The restaurant was truly amazing, prior to eating we hung out at the outside bar and listen to local musicians. The rooms were very comfortable, we had a wonderful view over the back of the property. Aix is truly a remarkable city and why not have a remarkable hotel too

I stayed at Hotel Cezanne for six nights on the first floor above the lobby…read more Pros: - The breakfast is really good. There's a hot bar and a great cut-your-own-cheese charcuterie set up, as well as pastries. I was fine with a nut allergy by avoiding the pastries. The eggs are deliciously fluffy and I ate them with the cheeses and smoked salmon every day that it was available. - The WiFi is quite good. - The location is great, being near the city center and very walkable. - The rooms are well soundproofed. - Direct USB connections to the walls means that you can survive without a travel adapter (though I still recommend a universal adapter) - The showers got suitably hot! - Staff were overall pretty friendly. Cons: - The rooms are quite small. - Some amenities are missing that are normal at American hotels. Notably, there was no ironing board, conditioner, mini-fridge, or lotion. - I was charged a corkage fee of 5 EUR to open my own wine at the hotel lobby.. I guess I should just go to my room? Overall, great location and a quaint small room that's great for sleeping but not much else. The staff are great and very helpful. Awesome breakfast.

In fact, on this European adventure…read moreconsisting of 3 countries and 3 Marriott properties in 2 different countries, each has been spectacular! So much better than some of the best experiences we've had at Marriott properties in the US! Each location has provided great service, great concierge suggestions, assistance, and guidance and nicely maintained rooms and property. Check-in was a smooth and very helpful experience... It was provided by a pleasant gentleman who was efficient and provided all the information we needed to know about the property, spa, and restaurant. We were upgraded to a nice king room with a balcony on the top floor, which was very nice. The room was large enough for our 4 larger pieces of luggage to be open, to live from, while still offering hanging space inside closets. The bathroom area was interesting, but what was odd was that they never gave us new bar soap... why?!? We heard from others we knew staying here who had this same issue, even after asking for a replacement. Otherwise, housekeeping did a nice job keeping the room fresh and stocked during our stay. Plus, they offer turndown service. The two concierge were worked with were outstanding! One was a lady, the other was Saif. She offered a great suggestion for dinner on our first night (it was Le Ramus). Saif was outstanding, as he went out of his way to help us find affordable ways to get to/from Marseille one of our day trips and then to the airport on our last day to fly out. The car service they provide is excellent as well and cheaper than the rates I got form Uber! If you are looking to book a trip to Aix-en-provence, stay here and contact Saif ahead of time and he will not only put together an amazing itinerary for you, he'll book all your reservations (all that's he able) too! He has a lengthy and very knowledgeable background about most all of Europe and this can be very helpful when planning your visit!! The property is located within a few minutes walk of the bus depot in one direction, and the Rotunde in the old, historic city area, in the opposite direction. There are many shops and amazing cafés, restaurants in the older district, definitely check it out! There are many places to stop and dine, as well and top level shopping all very close! They have a big pool, which looks nice, a spa, and a couple of places to eat on property as well. We would most definitely return and stay here again!
