The experience when I returned my vehicle was equally efficient. The attendant once again was friendly and charismatic. Then inspection was smooth and conducted quickly. After my trip I had to call back for a copy of my receipt to be emailed to me. As I expected it was a pleasant experience. In fact, in my travels this was one of my best rental car experiences.

I paid for a car rental in advance in order to get a preferred rate. The morning of the car rental I get the email below stating they did not have a car available for me. So they cancelled the reservation. Yet, they failed to refund my credit card. Phone calls to their customer service yielded no results. When I finally emailed nachfrafe@europcar.com, I am told I will get a refund once the car is returned. They didn't even acknowledge that the car rental transaction never took place and was cancelled by them. Poor business. Look elsewhere when you rent a car. But if you do have to rent a car from them, don't pay in advance to get a lower rate. Chances are the car will not be available and you will have to fight them to get your money back. Overcharged on Currency Transaction by Avis…read more I rented a car from Avis Budget Autovermietung in Berlin, Germany for two weeks in July 2021. The rental began through an online broker, Qeeq.com, and the price was quoted in Euros. At Avis, the rental agreement was also priced in Euros. We had to return the car after-hours, so I did not receive a final invoice until weeks later when we were back in the United States. Avis Budget Autovermietung charged us in US Dollars, resulting in overcharge of about 50 USD more than if they would have charged in Euros. After calling Visa, they removed the additional charge, but later added the charge back. The customer support at Qeeq.com also tried to help without success. The Avis rental agreement states that they will charge 4% over the Citibank conversion rate if the customer chooses to pay in a different currency, but I did not choose this. My credit card has no foreign transaction fees and my credit card statement (which Qeeq.com sent to Avis) shows that all other transactions in Germany before and after the Avis charge were made in Euros. After trying unsuccessfully for three months to get a refund on the over-payment, all that I can do is to warn others to be careful about being sure how you will be charged for your car rental with Avis.

I picked up a dirty car from dark parking area in Tegel and did not see preexisting one millimeter (0,1 inch) spot on the rear bumper. When I returned undamaged car a few days later a manager inspected the car, found this one millimeter spot and marked the car as "damage". About four hours later I received mail from the manager, claiming that there was "damage" - one scratch on the rear bumper. Today I was notified by mail that a damage claim against me had been filed. The cost they charged me for an alleged one inch preexisting scratch on the bumper is € 599 including tax ($710) Stay away from Buchbinder. After check out they will find any smal preexisting scratch and STEAL your 800' euro deposit. They are scammers!

The worst car rental ever. Never rent a car there. They are traing to charge me an aditional day…read more(showing a document without my signature) and they refuse to get my money back. They charge 300 euros for my family saying that is for deposit and never returned. Get the car key, go around the kiosk to a garage for the car and off you go. Located at the Flughafen Berlin Tegel TXL airport and a short 5-minute walk over once passed through customs. Go outside the terminal and turn right. They share an area with other car rental companies. Note make sure flight info is in the reservation in case of delays or whatever. Otherwise, the car reservation is freed up an hour after the expected arrival.

When we got back to the US, we realized they had overcharged us by several hundred dollars, which included a full tank of gas at their sky-high prices. We had the receipt from the gas station and all paperwork, but communication with customer service went nowhere. After a few weeks with no communication on Hertz' end, we went through our credit card company to get the overcharge refunded. I've had good experiences with other Hertz locations, but I'm going to avoid Hertz Germany altogether from now on. If you have no other option, I recommend you make sure to keep your receipts and take a picture of the gas gauge after filling up. Keep track of your communication and don't be afraid to file a claim with your CC company.
