I booked a flight, hotel and car rental for my son and his mother to go to Spain December 12th through the 19th. I paid for everything upfront. The car rental,, all this was booked through Orbitz. Sixt was the car rental. I paid for a Mercedes with collision and travel insurance. I contacted Sixt via email to ask if it was OK that my son was picking up the car,, even though it was paid for in my name. The email I received from Sixt was yes,, as long as my so had a valid drivers license and a $300 refundable deposit. OK,, my son goes to get the car and the lady says first,, they don't have his car,, he will get a different one,OK. Then,, she says he NEEDS collision insurance. He says, no, my father paid for it. She argues and says to get his car, he needs it. She THEN says he needs a $1200,, a $1200 deposit! He calls me while there,, tells me the whole story,, I tell him "walk away." I contact Sixt,, am told its Orbitz responsibility to refund,, Orbitz says, no, its Sixt responsibilty to refund. FOUR times I'm on the phone with Orbitz,,, each time over an hour,, them talking to Sixt while I'm on hold. I have emailed every person on Orbitz and Sixt and get the runaround. I have been doing this since December 12th (last email to Sixt today) with no results,, nothing. I know I'll never get a refund,, but I'll get satisfaction from warning people what a shitty operation Sixt runs. read more
