Lazy staff at the Bratislava airport…read morekiosk who didn't bother to check your car when you hand it in, saying that they were busy (although they just sat in the kiosk and looked like doing nothing). Then 1 and half hour later you get an email from them saying that they found some scratches on your car you were not aware off. You obviously couldn't check the car as you were just boarding the plane. Then they send you an invoice for EUR 800 and a hand over document signed with KB (key box) although you have handed the keys and the car document directly to their staff, and NOT INTO A KEY BOX. I am thank God fully insured and hope that I will get my money back, but have decided to write this review, because the service was appalling and the hassle I had with this was (and still is) just unbelievable. In addition, my customer experience at the beginning of the whole process was also not exactly five star. When I came to pick up the car with my daughter I asked the lady at the Buchbinder kiosk in Bratislava to go to the car park with me, so we can check the car together. I wanted to have a peace of mind before I drove off. The lady said she was very busy with customers, although I didn't see any waiting behind me. She advised to check the car by myself and if I would spot anything additional (in addition to the damage already on the car) I should just stop at the airport front entrance and report it. I checked the car when I got to it, thankfully didn't spot any damage, but imagine if I would, then drove 100 meters to the airport entrance and report it. They would probably say I did it during my 100 meters drive. Really bad customer experience. My recommendation to anyone who would consider Buchbinder in Bratislava is ...pay rather a bit more money with a more expensive car rental and hopefully your experience will be better than mine.

Upon arrival in DUS, Buchbinder offered me a Nissan Cube! to drive around for a whole month expecting to do more than 5000km. This model was not according to the agreement but Buchbinder refused to change it. My family and I were very tired after a long night flight and not in the mood for a long discussion with unprofessional staff.They charged me 5Euro per day extra to change the car for another model in the same group or class. ( +150 Euro ) and they charged another 20 Euro extra for crossing the border. It took many emails and a long time before they finally admitted their fault and refunded me. Buchbinder , never again. This year, I used InterRent.de and had a super correct experience, professional staff, no hassle or whatever hidden cost.As I arrived earlier than expected, this was no problem for InterRent and they handed me the car straight away. Very efficient and recomendable.

When I arrived, the young lady at the counter (I bypassed the desk in the airport) was disappointed as she had planned a better vehicle for me. She was still super nice and super apologetic and so I can't blame her for my early arrival. Her English was perfect. I had my passport, drivers license and international drivers license ready. Instead of the full-size vehicle I had reserved (BMW 3-series or similar), I had a mid-size SUV. In Germany, they call it a Ford Kuga. In the US, it would be a Ford Escape. Six-speed manual with a diesel engine and some enhancements. Under 1000 km on the clock, it was in perfect condition and I really didn't mind. A quick inspection of the car for any damage, a note of the full fuel tank and I was off. It's been two years since my last manual transmission but it all came back to me just fine. It was a nice drive and quite enjoyable to be in a higher vehicle that went just as fast as I wanted to go on the autobahn. I had it up to 170 kph / 105 mph at one point and that was fine. It was returned several hours later in Stuttgart with no issues. The counter in the airport is in the usual place with arrivals. The desk in the parking deck is a little harder. Exit the airport and go left towards the air traffic control tower. Continue left. Keep continuing. There's a bridge. Take the elevator to the floor with National. There you are.
