if I could give negative I would!!!!!! do not rent from this place. they are scandalous and will steal your money. best part is that they are not even the real Sixt rental car corporation, they are a franchise and the corporation will not take any responsibility for the franchise's actions. the management of whom i will not name just yet will give you his number and say that if there is anything you need to let him know. not even the corporation is able to contact the franchise. this place is an absolute JOKE. first stop was yelp and now on to social media before I contact the Better Business Buero. read more

If you want a car that works, don't rent here. First off there are times where they flat out just don't answer the phone in the evenings. I tried four about 4 hours one night, 5 Separate calls before I gave up. Hold times were said to be 10-15min each time. The whole time listening to their horrible hold music about how amazing they are. If you have trouble with you car (like I am now) good luck, be prepared to drive a long distance to get a new one. Im not sure if the car is even going to make the 78mi drive. Oh and on pick up the car had no wiper fluid, so they obviously don't check the car fluids before sending them out again. The staff at the locations are decent, but everything else customerservice wise is horrendous. If there is even a slight chance you might need to contact them, look somewhere else. read more

Don't rent from Sixt! They prices are competitive but the cars are dirty when you pick them up. The service takes for ever and they're not efficient at all. Be sure to take pictures of all damages! They're notorious about insisting old damages are new. Thank god I photographed the car before I left the lot. I still got charged for a flat tire. Spend more cash with an established rental company to avoid sub par service and the hassle. read more

This place don't even deserve a star. Rented a 15 seater van for a week and it was the worse experience we ever had with rentals. The only van available & it looked like it went through hell. The AC would work when it wants to so the back seat riders were dying of heat, the check engine light went on the second day along with oil light went on & the tire light. IT WOULD NOT GO OFF. We were charged an extra $500 because the van was an "expensive" rental & they wouldn't take our insurance (we have better insurance) The backseat seat belts was not usable & the compartment had cockroaches. They basically just patch up the rental (wash the outside) & wait for the next people to rent it. We had put gas for the first time during our trip & it wouldn't start. On our last day literally heading to the airport from Adjuntas, the van died. We were stuck on the side of the road 8:30 at night in a pitch black area. We called this company because we needed road side assistance & NO ONE ANSWERED the phone (called numerous times) I even emailed them, it's been 2 days & guess what? They didn't even return an email or call. My husband ended up starting the van again and we was praying we'd make it to drop this POS rental off. Two minutes till reaching the rental place it died 4xs!!! WE WERE ROLLING IN THE RENTAL PLACE holding up traffic!!!! I was in tears because we had 2 babies with us (out of the 11 of us) & needed to catch our flight back home. Got to the office to see sooo much workers but no one could answer the damn phone?!! The response we got was: We just work here. So if we didn't get the van to start, we'd still be stuck in Adjuntas (2 hrs away) WHY PAY FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WHEN WE CANT GET THE HELP? $2700 for a trash rental. NEVER AGAIN. Do yourself a favor & believe the reviews, this company is a patch & rent. They don't keep up with the maintenance of the trash cars they have. If this wasn't the only rental van available, we would've went with a well known company like we always do. read more

Zero customer service , I made a change in line with a confirmation, but they didn't have in the system , waited more than an hour for a pre-paid car. I have to show them my credit card charge to proof them that was the cc I have used , they didn't have that info in the system either. They try to up sale everything like a $3 per day windshield damage, $5 a day tire insurance and after all that we waited for the car to be washed . Stay away read more

Don't use them! I had a flight delayed in Dallas. I called and spoke with them regarding my reservation. I was told it would be fine and that there would be a car made available. I arrived late as I explained due to the flight delay and they had no car available. They did try to put me in "the only car available" for $1800 when my original registration was quoted at $647. When I explained that was not an acceptable option, they no longer had a car and left me stranded in Puerto Rico at 2:00 am without a car. Thankfully they had a very nice shuttle driver who took me back to the airport so that I could explore other options. I do NOT recommend this car rental company. read more

We had a wonderful experience! The shovel showed up so quickly! Wonderful vehicle. Appreciated the great service.

The airport car rentals were out of cars around Christmas and we ended up at Sixt. I had reserved the car and prepaid online. It took about an hour to rent the car and there was only one person ahead of me. Nothing here is fast! If you have reserved online, double check for any extra charges. I was about to be charged for navigation system and a third car seat. Take your time and go through the charges before you sign. Car seats are about $8 each per day and the toll pass about the same. We hardly used toll roads except for a trip to the rainforest. You should be able to pay cash and skip renting the toll pass. The car was mediocre, but clean. It worked out OK, but I would go with the rental right at the airport. This should be your fallback option. read more

Messed up and forgot to book a car before our honeymoon. We booked it as we were driving to the airport and Sixt was the only place who had any left for less than $500/day. I was a bit hesitant after reading the reviews but we booked through Expedia so I knew my money would be refunded if I needed it to be. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my experience. I'm taking 2 stars off because of the ridiculously long wait outside in the rain and heat surrounded by people during covid. We had an appointment time but didn't end up leaving until 2 hours after. The car was very clean and they walked around it with us to make sure any dings and bumps were noted. The vehicle wasn't what we had selected (jeep wrangler instead of a Mitsubishi Outlander) but it was alright because I've always wanted to drive a jeep . The return process was extremely painless. We walked in, gave a man our keys, he checked the odometer and gas gauge, and we left. They have shuttles to and from the airport that are free and easy. As others have said, AVOID THE TOLLS!!! If you use Apple Maps you can set it to avoid tolls on all of your routes. It'll take longer to get places but it won't cost you an arm and a leg Long story short: plan on being there for a while, make sure your have your car insurance information, avoid tolls, and you'll be fine! read more

After the car pick up and paying for my rental, I checked my credit card to make sure everything was charged correctly, and to my surprise, they charged my rental twice, mind you I inserted my card, and the amount shown on the screen was correct ( first red flag here). I immediately returned to the counter to get the overcharge fixed, and they claimed it didn't happen. I showed them my credit card transactions that cleared, showed the charges, and they still claimed they didn't do it. Hours later, I received the email with the rental documents and the transaction receipt, and Tada! The transaction that I didn't authorize was there. The manager called me and said that I was "charged my mistake, "they canceled the transaction so that he couldn't refund me. I'm still waiting for the payment to clear on my credit card to move forward with this issue; losing $500 is a huge inconvenience when you are on vacation. This company is untrustworthy and has little business with the client's credit cards. DON'T risk your money. read more

One star is too much. More than an hr to get our car, they do paper and copies and take 30 mins per client. We were w our baby, and he got cranky. Only good thing was the shuttle driver who was nice and efficient. bathrooms are horrible. Plus they charge for additional drivers daily, and taxes when it was already payed by Hotwire. More taxes and they didnt know how to explain why the charge of more taxes Awful start to our vacation. DO NOT RENT WITH SIXT THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE read more

Absolute garbage! They cancelled my friend's reservation because they were stuck in traffic for 4 hours due to an accident on the way to the airport to pick up the car. No warning, no call, nothing. Unapologetic. There's a reason this place is bottom of the barrel. AVOID at all costs! read more

Honestly the worst experience I've had with a car rental place. They cancelled our reservation last minute because our flight was delayed 20mins, when we called 4x and they did not answer. Then, because of their lack of communication, would not give us back our money for something they forgot to write a note about. Very disorganized y la verdad la atención al cliente fue horrible. Unfortunately, it was the only place that had a car left, but if you can, avoid them. read more

Rented a car from Sixt using Hotwire. Bought insurance. Sixt insisted we needed minimum liability insurance of $15/day and put deposit of $400* on credit card. after trip, refunded $200+. Hotwire says work it out with Sixt and gave me their phone number. which is actually NO customer support. was told additional charges were minimum liability and express service, and was told to contact Hotwire. Strongly recommend against either Sixt or Hotwire. read more

This is the "supervisor": very disrespectful, unapologetic, miserable employee. Her logic is full with profanity and illogical. I don't recommend anyone to rent from this establishment.....you should just walk! You wait outside under a tent in 90+ degree weather with no offers of of water/hydration. I wish I could get a negative star. This supervisor needs to be reprimanded and I hope Sixt sends her to professional developmental courses. If I could give a zero, that would be my score--worst experience since the arrival to the departure. We waited 2 hours in the heat to be assisted with our car rental (we already had a reservation). When we returned to the car, my husband's wallet was on the driver's seat. He remembered he had left it there when a guy took our car; my husband grabbed his wallet, immediately missing cash that he saw before getting to the place (they never even informed me that my husband's wallet was still there when it was visible). We gave our concerns, and they didn't care. This place was highly recommended and has been the worst experience so far with any rental car shop. read more

WORST RENTAL CAR COMPANY EVER!!! STAY AWAY!!! I had booked a reservation online for San Juan Puerto Rico months ago and prepaid it! My rental was set to start 9/21/22 however, the island was hit with Hurricane Fiona on 9/18-9/19 and as a result, 100% of the island had no power, no water and is completely flooded and destroyed! There is no way you can safely drive around the island or enjoy it. Therefore, I tried to call Sixt to ask for a credit or voucher so that I can book my travel at a later time while PR heals from this catastrophic hurricane. All I was able to connect with were voicemails instructing you to send emails. After sending multiple emails, they responded that they were not able to credit nor refund my rental as it was prepaid and its part of their policy. These are different circumstances beyond anyone's control. No one is at fault except mother nature but, this company does not care about their customers nor has any compassion. I prepaid a total of $187 for the rental and when I cancelled I was charged a fee of $91.85. This is armed robbery! I WILL NEVER use again or recommend Sixt to anyone. BEWARE!!! read more

The gentleman in the shuttle was my best experience with sixt. Took 30 minutes to check me in once the gentleman started with my reservation. My reservation was at 3pm and i arrive at 2:50 to the car rental. Once i was checked in at 3:25 i had to wait 20 additional minutes to receive my car cause they were cleaning it. There were 5 other cars outside similar ready for rental however i had to sit and wait 20 minutes and for them to clean the vehicle they gave me. Lesson learned. A reply to Sixt: I didnt feel like i waited to much if my appointment was at 3pm, I'm not asking too much for the vehicle to be ready at 3:00 pm since my appointment was made weeks in advance. I can over look at the counter taking a bit longer to ensure that the documentation of the vehicle and insurance is correct, however is inexcusable that the vehicle is not ready. Instead of making excuses as i see for the multiple/several replies in yelp, maybe you should apply corrective actions to your facility. read more

Something is wrong w this sixt location. Due to waits during both pick up and drop off, I saw 6 other customers who were all extremely unhappy w something at this location. My gripes: waited an hour at the airport for the shuttle, directions to get there were very unclear and I wound up taking a cab, tried calling many times and never got through (only one person working the location), two unexpected additional charges on arrival (airport fee and daily liability insurance) which were not on the email invoice. Car was fine and the staff member was kind, but this business has issues. I will prob not use sixt again and def won't in Puerto Rico. Madeline of sixt - how do I contact you? On April 23,2022, a reservation for a car rental was made using the Priceline trip number 546-004-763-38. The car rental was PAID in full using a service that is offered by price line. When I arrived to my destination and the car rental place, I informed them that said service provided all information needed, but in return the representative informed me that unless I have a credit card with the full payment available, the PAID reservation was not valid and she will have to cancel it. She canceled it and I was told to get with Priceline to resolve the situation, so a call was placed to Priceline and I was advised to use the chat option and once I connected with someone via chat they said that I will need to go to or call Sixt rental. My wife and I rented a car and Isla Verde, Puerto Rico this September we had a good experience. Overall front desk was very nice. Manager was very helpful. My only issue was the car had at least 16 intents managers try to get me another car, but there was none available. They did offer to replace the car the following day I refused that offer cause we'll will be on the other side of the island, I do have to mention Madeline Rosario she was really helpful. She went beyond her duties to make sure that my wife and I were satisfied so I do recommend six. Again, I do have to credit Madeline Rosario. I think she should have a higher position and let her run this company again miss Rosario. Thank you so much. read more

Arrived after 5 minute shuttle - have my whole family 8 month old as well. It took 2.5 hours of going around and around with them upselling us to no end! No, you do not need the tolls - we drove over 480 miles and never went through 1 toll! - The entire van I rented was all pre-paid via our credit card - Collision insurance included prior to getting there! Everyone, was steamy hot, tired and hungry! The family has to sit outside under a tent with no air conditioning to wait for whoever handles the transaction inside the tiny trailer. Yet, they continued to try to add additional insurance and lots of other items we did NOT need. We refused their Liability insurance and used our own personal insurance. The hassle was we didn't have the proof with us - even had to call home and have a friend drive to our house and get into my husband's car to retrieve the card - after we waited an additional 30 minutes for that to happen, they say oh we don't need that! They overcharged us tremendously and kind of set a bad tone for the rest of the day! Thank God the van was practically new and everything worked! When we returned the van we literally jumped and out and ran as we did NOT want to go through or experience what happened when we got there! Word to the wise - do NOT use them! They are a total rip off! Offer a low price and then they add on fees left and right. A $16 dollar daily rental was almost triple by the time they were done. I am disappointed that Hotwire.com would promote such a bad company. (Don't take my word for it look at the littnay of negative reviews) The rental location was rinky dink and on a sketchy street. Rental process took almost an hour because the single agent had to explain all of the add ons and run my card three times. Return was worse! There was no place to park the returned vehicle and the staff didn't help you find a place to park the car. If you see SIXT as an option don't get suckered in by Hotwire's "hot deals". I used to think that Hotwire was reputable but based on this expereince I will never use them again. I will pay double at Enterprise, Hertz, Avis or National before I ever use Hotwire again and have them bait and switch me to a company like SIXT. At least the larger brands are honest and in the long run cheaper. read more

Do not use this Car Rental. We rented a car for our 7 day trip and when we got the car the windows would not roll down and the car had a ammonia smell similar to cat pee. Renting from them was a miserable introduction to the island. We waited for a shuttle for about 30 minutes, then I saw the shuttle sitting there not moving towards us at all. When I approached him, he asked if I had a reservation and said he does not do his travel loop unless he knows someone is waiting. I had a reservation! Could not reach them by phone. The worst part was the woman at Sixt. If you've ever encountered an employee that thinks they are better than everybody and likes to get little snide comments in, this woman probably trained them. She kept saying that people booking through Travelocity are hurting the company. When I wrote on the insurance paperwork that I paid for coverage through Travelocity she screamed "you can't write on our contract!" She tried to charge me $15 more than Travelocity stated. When I told her this was an uncomfortable check in she said "why, because I'm telling you facts?" What a piece of work that one. read more

Worst car rental company! My first trip to the PR and, after my long flight from CA, I just wanted to get to my hotel and rest. So, that's what Sixt rent a car did. They provided me with a car and when they asked me to inspection the car I noted the small scratches and I even pushed into place a small square from the front bumper that was falling out of pace [this square comes off manually when. The car needs to be towed]. I was there for 7 days and each time I would get into the car I would push that same square back into place. At the end of my stay, they claimed that a small crack (about a quarter in size) on the bottom lip of the front bumper was cause while the car was on my possession. I explained them that the crack was already there and with the wind pressure it will cause the small square to come out of place. At the end, I had to pay $500 deductible for something that will cost less than $250 to fix. I can't believe that such company is still operating. I've rented cars for over 10 years and never had this issue! It is just bad business and they don't realize that much of their economy depends on tourism, and, all this company is accomplishing, besides ripping people off, is to discourage future tourist to visit the already economically crumbly PR Island. read more
