AVOID!! They charge your credit card with random amounts even after 7 months!!
According to the employee, the "system" was not working well at the time of my booking. She told me that I had to write my name, e-mail address, home address and phone number on a piece of paper and she would send me the contract, the terms and conditions of my renting and the receipt of my payment.
She said she was unable to send me the electronic contract, nor could she print it and give it to me. So I was asked to electronically sign on a blank screen with a stylus and believe the employee's words that what I was presented before was what I was signing. I also had to believe that I would "surely" receive my signed contract in my email. I wrote my details on the piece of paper but never received any document.
Almost ten days after I had returned the car and returned to my country, I saw a charge of €58,61 on my credit card. I tried to find a contact email of the rental office in Bologna airport and it was quite difficult, but I finally managed to find it. I contacted them asking what the charge was about and also asking for a receipt of my payment that I had never received until then. They sent a receipt and they said that the charge was a mistake and they would return the money, which they did. However, they never sent me the contract and the terms and conditions of my renting.
Seven (7!!) months later, I saw a charge of €30.50 on my credit card. I contacted the airport office, they said I should contact the customer service, which I did. They said it was because of a traffic offense of driving on a bus lane and sent me a pdf with the notification, but I cannot confirm it is valid. According to that pdf document, if the fee, which was €89, was paid within 5 days it would have a discount of 30%, and if it was paid after 60 days the amount owed would be doubled, i.e. it would be €178. So, if the notification is valid, I will not only have to pay €178 to the Italian state but also pay an additional €30.50 to Sixt!! And they say it is according to our agreement but they deny me access to it!!!
I have asked them 3 times to send me the rental contract with my signature and they don't send it to me. Why is that? Who does that? Why do they hide it?
I don't know what to do, I don't know if the traffic offense is true, I was extremely cautious while driving there and I don't remember driving on a bus lane. I don't know if they just charge random amounts to unlucky customers' credit cards, betting that they won't see it or they won't bother with it.
However, I understand that they have kept my credit card number until now and can charge me amounts, either by "mistake" or by providing documents that I cannot confirm their validity.
Please avoid renting from them! You may pay €20-30 less but it is totally NOT WORTH IT! You will have to constantly check your credit card for random charges and spend so much of your time on emails and lawyers!!
