It's about a 20 minute level walk to and from the train station (though a bus goes up the main road if you'd prefer and you can get a taxi right outside the hotel if you want too. We had a suite which was smaller than I had hoped it would be, but was really nicely appointed with a view of the clock tower directly across from the window and the main square to the right. And it was in fact two rooms so we could close the door between the bedroom and have the living room for late night writing or email when the other one of us was sleeping. For the most part it was a quiet room though there were films showing in the main square every night we were there and the sound could be heard until about midnight in our room which wasn't ideal but that was also about when we were going to sleep so it worked out. Breakfast was great and our favorite hotel breakfast in Italy. They brought a basket of gluten free items for my wife and the subsequent days we were there they remembered us and automatically brought the gluten free basket and remembered our coffee order as well. Felt like very personal service. The staff was really nice too and gave us good restaurant recommendations. We would definitely stay here again.

The room was comfortable and did its job. We appreciated the large bed, the bath tub, and the small gym, which even had a balcony so you could cool off outside after a workout. One downside was the lobby, which was extremely hot and uncomfortable throughout our stay. Check-in wasn't the smoothest either--it seemed like the staff might have been training, as there were three people at the desk chatting around a computer and no one acknowledged us for several minutes. That said, the service improved after that point, and the staff was helpful and friendly for the rest of our stay. If you're looking for a reasonably priced place within walking distance of the city center and train station, this could be a good fit--just don't expect luxury or too many perks.

The bathroom was perfectly sized, providing a comfortable and convenient space for our needs. While I personally found the bed slightly firmer than my preference, it still offered a good night's sleep. My wife, although noting that it might be a tad too firm for her liking, considered it a minor quibble in the grand scheme of things. The balcony was a true highlight, adorned with a reclining chair, a pair of cozy chairs, and a lovely table. We were delighted to discover a retractable awning, which, although we figured out how to use it on our last day, served as a wonderful shield against both rain and the playful local birdlife. We marveled at the meticulously preserved portions of the property, especially the wooden beams, protected throughout. Each floor and room with its own historical significance, and took our time absorbing the stories they whispered by hopeful name, plates, and historical plaques, describing each item, an article. Our exploration of the hotel was nothing short of enchanting, leaving us with a profound appreciation for the thought and care that went into its design and preservation. The hotels efforts and preserving it's history is remarkable. The hotel's breakfast buffet was truly exceptional! Very noisy and on street with high traffic. - The room was extremely small (probably 160 sqf), and had an unbearable smell of sewage coming from the bathroom. Even when keeping the door closed, the problem persisted. Concierge staff has been promptly informed but they never came up to check and no solution has been provided. - From 10pm to 2:30am continuous noises came from the upper floor. Trolleys, chairs, metallic noises, footsteps, etc We notified concierge twice at 11:10pm and 12:00am but the problem was not resolved by staff. We were told that there was a restaurant/tavern above the room. Brilliant decision for a location where people are supposed to sleep. - Although we parked the car in hotel parking lot, the car was moved and was parked on the street at 3:40 am. All without asking permission. Very professional and safe decision. To offer fair and complete perspective, we presented verbal and written complaints and, in summary, the hotel response has been "We apologize, you have to pay full price anyhow, we will cover parking costs of 25E and we offer you a one level upgraded room next time you visit again". Have travelled for 40+ years, internationally, and always in 4/5 stars hotels. Never seen such a un-professional management and response. In summary very unpleasant experience, overall hotel quality absolutely not at the level of the 200+ Euro price and very passive/un-professional staff attitude. They advertise themselves as offering "emotions of a unique experience"...undoubtedly very uniquely negative stay indeed....

The place is pretty much right in the middle of the centro, which puts it in walking distance of pretty much everything there. The rooms are reasonably large, clean, and modern, with everything pretty much working the way you'd expect it to. Upon arrival, the concierge Isabella informed us we could upgrade to a better/bigger room for a price and let us walk around and look at the rooms before deciding. The room was very spacious and was the perfect size for us. There were a few cons to the room: The mattress was very firm and rough, there were a few mold spots in the shower, the shower is relatively tiny, and there was a squashed bug in a corner of the bathroom that was there for our entire trip. Other than these things, the location of the hotel was a definite plus. The hotel is a 4 minute walk away from Bologna Centrale, so traveling to other cities in Italy by train was very easy. The city center of Bologna was also easily accessible by bus. A short one minute walk to the bus stop and then a 7 minute bus ride (4 stops) places you right in front of the Neptune Fountain. Location was everything; we were also able to walk to the city center in about 20 minutes.The hotel served breakfast for free from 7-10 every morning and we definitely made sure to get down there nearly every day we stayed at the hotel. The kitchen staff were very personable and helpful. The front desk staff was also very helpful. While we spoke decent Italian, they all spoke English and didn't hesitate to make reservations for us and give us recommendations when asked. We're very pleased with the hotel and how they treated us. Pros: Customer service, flexibility, and location were the stand-out aspects of this hotel. Cons: The rooms could use a little improvement to make some aspects more comfortable for guests. Also maybe some more detailed cleaning. The hotel's a block or two off the main drag that leads into the center. It's a nice walk, maybe 20-30 minutes, to Piazza Maggiore, but it's an enjoyable walk, especially once you make it past the train station. (You could also catch a bus, but I enjoy the busy scene on the streets.) The hotel decoration is artsy and lively at the same time. It borders on over-the-top, but I liked it the way it was. Breakfast is nice and the little breakfast room is as cute as can be. If you're traveling by train, the hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from Bologna Centrale. If you're traveling by car, you can rent a spot in the hotel's courtyard or take your chances with street parking at the end of the block.

I felt the same way about the hotel itself. It seemed sterile in the same way you would find a higher end hotel in the US. The lobby, as well as the room, had all the right elements, but also was lacking in personality. All of this might have earned this hotel a higher rating except that it was quite expensive and didn't really seem to offer anything unique. My experience at their restaurant (Avorio) was also lackluster (see separate review). I suspect that Bologna has other places to stay that offer more personality at a considerably lower cost.

When I arrived 3:45 it was not there and i had to go back down to get it. Room small but clean. Sink didn't plug. Huge issue for contact lens wearers and wanted to wash a dress by hand but couldn't No makeup mirror. They had a bar which was nice. It had a very reasonably priced happy hour too. They helped get a cab to the airport- in general, there front desk was helpful. Gym had an ab board which was great! Recumbent bike squeaked but it worked. Also had a recumbent bike and a treadmill. Location directly across from the train station. Within walking distance of the center and historic district. They give a great map of the city upon checkin. I would stay here again.
