My family and I had a reservation through Priceline for a car rental that was booked nearly 2 months ago. Due to an unforeseen delay of over 2.5 hours on our flight from Rome to Barcelona, we arrived at Barcelona El Prat airport a couple of hours past our reservation time of 4pm on 7/22/24. Upon our arrival, we were met with extremely rude behavior from the representative at Enterprise's airport location. She informed us that our reservation had been automatically canceled because we were more than an hour late and claimed that she did not have our flight information. She brusquely told us to get out of the line so she could attend to the next customer. Despite showing proof of our delayed flight, no efforts were made to assist us in remaking a new reservation or finding any solution. With no assistance from Enterprise, we had no choice but to start looking for a last-minute solution that fit our budget. We needed to drive 1.5 hours from the airport to our reserved hotel in Girona, a fact we explained to both the representative and the manager, Juan. We spent nearly 4 hours frantically going from one rental car agency to another, facing exaggerated bids compared to our original reservation. Eventually, at around 11:30pm, we gave up and paid for a car that cost more than double our original price, which was also smaller than the one we had booked. Traveling with two young children who had not eaten almost the entire day due to the delay, we found this experience particularly distressing. When we asked to speak to a manager, we were directed to the bottom level office to speak with Juan. He was equally rude and unhelpful, even threatening to call the police if we did not leave the premises. Adding insult to injury, we witnessed another family being told that no automatic cars were available, only for them to miraculously receive an automatic car after they strongly refused a manual one. It's highly likely this car was intended for us. I later discovered that Enterprise's own policy states, "Reservations are valid for 24 hours from the scheduled time of pick-up for delayed flights and charges will not begin until the time of pick-up." This blatant discrepancy in information and the complete lack of empathy and assistance from your staff have left me deeply upset. We ended up renting from Europcar, where an angel named Jose Pedro Bravo assisted us. Unlike Enterprise, Europcar informed us that their policy ensures they wait for their reservations to arrive and stay open to accommodate delayed flights, ensuring their customers receive their reserved vehicles. This stark contrast in customer service only highlights how poorly we were treated by Enterprise.

Nos montamos en un taxi y nos fuimos hasta Enterprise Car a rental en la estación de trenes donde las dos chicas Argentinas nos acusaron de que nos íbamos a robar el coche! Me pregunto: SOY DE ESTADOS UNIDOS! COMO ME PUEDO ROBAR UN CARRO QUE NO FUNCIONA? Y MONTARLO EN EL AVIÓN DE AMERICAN AIRLINES DESTINO A ESTADOS UNIDOS! ME IMAGINO QUE NUNCA HAN VIAJADO SOLAMENTE FOS INMIGRANTES EN BARCELONA QUE NUNCA AN VIAJADO Y NO SE SABEN NINGUNA REGLA. COMO ME VOY A ROBAR UN COCHE Y PONERLO EN MI EQUIPAJE? QUE TONTERÍA. Estuvimos hasta las 12 am y mientras esperamos que la grúa que recoje los coche nos recojiera el coche que nunca pasó porque son tan inteligente que le explicamos cómo y que grúa necesitaban y vinieron con todo lo contrario otra vez QUE INTELIGENCIA! RECOMIENDO QUE NO VENGAN A LA UNIVERSIDAD DE BARCELONA PORQUE VAN A SALIR INÚTILES! En ese momento llegó dos hippies sucios pestosos al Enterprise y que tú crees que paso cocaron con un carro y estoy 100% segura que las dos chicas Argentinas no lo reportaron porque todos salimos para ayudar a mover el carro ya que las dos chicas no sabían. Creo que se la respuesta RACISMO AL TURISTA! RACISMO AL TURISTA. Al final nos tuvimos que ir porque no podíamos cojer el cambio del coche porque éramos turista. Mis hijas sin comer nada toda la noche nosotros tampoco. Hoy miércoles son las 9:45 am y no han recogido el coche y te go que entregar el apartamento donde me encuentro. En otras palabras un servicio de discriminación total. Una agencia Americana que es racista con los Turista! Aquí en Espana Una experiencia horrible! Me encantaría que el JEFE de esta agencia en Madrid me escribiera porque como pueden saber les voy a escribir una carta para darle todo lo que mi familia hemos pasado en este viaje a su país donde necesitan de los turistas para poder vivir porque si no quien viniera a Barcelona el REY? They know that we're from abroad and can't walk back there so they fleece you from a far. Clearly someone didn't check the car until a day later, that's why they charged us an extra day. But how could we use it an extra day, if we were on the plane the day before? Nonesense. Corporate didn't help one bit. They said there was damage to the car, but it took an extra month to find out what damage they were talking about, and with no pictures. We have pictures. The car was immaculate when we dropped it off. Still fighting this. I'm utterly disgusted and hope you find a better place to rent a car. I will not be using Hertz in any country ever again.

Price is much better than the airport / train station because you save a lot on fees / taxes. Car was in great condition and drop off was a breeze (no line). One note on renting a car in Barcelona: If you are planning on taking a drive through Spain, make sure you factor in the cost of tolls. We drove down to Alicante and paid close to 40 Euros in tolls each way! When we added this to the cost of gas and parking, we would have been MUCH better off taking the train.

Then, I learned that I was being provided an Audi A5 instead of the VW I requested. I was off my game and acepted the Audi, and didn't second guesss the suggestion regarding the fuel. I returned the car three days later, asked the return attendent to look it over with me, he did a curserary review and gestured we were good. A week later I'm told there were paint scratches , nothing else, a month later I received notice I owed 500 Euros. The underside of the under bumber structure was scratched. Not surprising as that is about 6 inches of the ground, and you must place your head almost on the ground to see this. This is along the lines of normal tire wear. Did I do that? I certainly didn't look under the car before I accepted it. But, I have been renting cars for the last 40 years all throughtout the EU, Central America and North America and these guys are the shiftiest. Lets leave it at that and I will share that today I recieved a very short and polite email saying that they have forgiven all danage claims. I have been contesting thier claims through emails and by my simply standing up to them they have backed down. Damage that is obvious to have occured during a specific rental must be accounted fro, but there guys are in my opinion pretty slippery. Be aware and stand your ground.
