It is more often than not that people come to leave negative reviews. But this review is beyond 5 stars. My friend and I went to check this furniture store out for her new studio space. Upon entering we realized how huge the space was with endless beautiful options and styles. Every turn we would whisper "look at this one!"...The staff didnt hover but was there for any question we had. We met Peter on our way out but somehow ended up staying a couple hours talking. Peter's guidance and expertise in interior design is exceptional. He listened to her needs and offered guidance within her price range. We almost walked out but because of Peter's vision she left with a sectional piece, kitchen table and chairs for amazing prices. AND the delivery driver was great as well. They delivered it that night!!! I was skeptical at first, but when it was in her space I saw what Peter envisioned at they are amazing! She insisted on coming over to our house to get a sense of what furniture would work best for our home. She knew exactly what would work with the space and layout we had and helped us choose the right colors, materials, and sizes. I cannot praise this establishment enough! I had spent hundreds of hours on line and shopping for kitchen chairs. Quite accidentally I was referred to Sitting Pretty.... I didn't even know they existed despite my exhaustive search. I had the pleasure of working with Susan, one of the owners. She took on look at the picture of my kitchen and directed me to the perfect chair given my style, use, and height.... my husband is 6'4 and I'm 5'2... Finding a chair that fit both of us was a feat of genius in and of itself. She had a great design eye to help me pick the best choice of fabric for these perfectly proportioned chairs. What I really appreciated was she gave me reasons why... from a function and design perspective... I should or should not make the choices I did. That comes from her wealth of knowledge having been in the business awhile. But wait... there is more! The chairs came exactly when she said they would, and the quality surpassed anything I had seen. The price point was good... the quality and workmanship good. I have just complete a major home remodel and purchased all of my chairs from here. From the 1st time I went to the store and started working with the resident designer Peter, until the very end, they went out of their way to make me a totally satisfied customer. 13 chairs purchased with custom fabric. Not all was right on 2 chairs when delivered, but they MADE IT RIGHT and did it in the most professional way possible. They worked with me and my designer to keep us updated every step of the way and made sure the matter was handled to our satisfaction in the shortest of time. I stumbled across this place via Craigslist and am so glad I did! It is unusual to find a Los Angeles area store that has quality furniture for a good price. I was surprised at the size of the store (huge!) and the selection. We went in for stools, but also found patio sets, couches, great art pieces and some home accessories. The staff (Susan in particular) was very helpful and were able to find several options that fit what we were looking for. So nice to see such a huge variety of options displayed in the store (instead of the 5-10 in other stores). Would definitely recommend. read more

I just built 9500 sq ft and my builder said there is only one place that can make the custom scale furniture you need, do the job right, and give me the best price! My mom has been a long time customer of this furniture store, and they have always been wonderful. They have an incredible selection of furniture and fabrics from which to choose. Their prices are always competitive, even in their high end furniture department. Sitting Pretty has stood behind every piece of furniture that my mom has ever purchased. She recently bought some gorgeous bar stools there, and there was a slight problem with the stain on two of the stools...Sitting Pretty sent specialists out to her house to make all the repairs, and they did it happily, quickly, and perfectly. So, I thought I knew what I wanted when I walked in. Like a typical 30-something year old female, I had collected pictures of things I liked, hoping to find something similar, but knowing that I probably wasn't going to find it. When I drove up to Sitting Pretty, I admit, I was a little underwhelmed. It looked like a giant warehouse and I was getting ready to turn right around and leave, but figured that if the place had been in business for 50 years, it probably had something to offer. Boy am glad I stayed. The place was filled with so many options for seating that I was completely overwhelmed. Enter designer, Peter Cass. Thank God for him, because I was able to narrow down the choices to something manageable...that is, until he pointed out that I had options for fabrics. WHAT?! Custom furniture? The thought had never even occurred to me. I had never wanted to be the person who had something everyone else had, so the thought of having EXACTLY what I wanted that NO ONE else had, was extremely appealing. I do not like "matchy matchy" sets, and while they had some pieces that were obviously meant to be together, Peter was able to help me pull together a look with the couch, dining table and bar stools that matched, but didn't exactly. He is really good at figuring out what's going to fit where, and how the pieces will be able to function together. He even helped me pick out artwork, vases and other things that helped my room look more "put together". Buyer be advised- this is not IKEA or Living Spaces. Custom takes time and money. You will not be able to walk out and have it delivered tomorrow. You will not be able to get in and out of there in less than an hour if you are truly looking and paying attention to what you want - especially since there are choices of fabrics! You will not be able to get quality furniture like this for Target prices. As a friend pointed out, quality furniture will outlast multiple sets of furniture from IKEA, which is why I ended up at Sitting Pretty to begin with. The main warehouse is full of mostly dining tables & chairs but the back room is a hidden gem full of unique American made pieces... Things you won't find at Crate & Barrel. We are long time customers and had purchased furniture from Sitting Pretty almost 30 years ago. We recently came in to purchase chairs and we very pleased with our selection. We purchased 8 chairs that would be a perfect match for our table. But, that's where the positive thinking ends. The chairs arrived are were very, very tarnished. We only opened 3 and realized that they were not up to par. We immediately returned the chairs without opening the remaining ones. We called the store and reordered the chairs. We waited quite some time and had not hear about the second order. We played a bit of phone tag, but ultimately, I was told "what did we expect when we ordered cheap chairs"? "They are from XXXX country after all." The person on the phone proceeded to yell at me and then went into a nonsensical lecture. I was really shocked and surprised that they would treat a customer that way. I did not feel comfortable with the purchase after this horrible phone call. I reached another person who refunded our money, but when I asked to speak with the owner to let him know I was not pleased, I was told that they were out of town and why did I need to speak with them if they refunded my money? Very disappointed with the customer service. If you sell an item, then you should stand behind it. If it is a cheap item, as described by the store, then you should not sell it! read more

My wife and I just moved into a brand new house. We received a postcard in the mail from Sitting Pretty promoting their large selection of bar and kitchen stools, two of which we needed for our kitchen island. We drove to their location in Reseda, and both fell in love with the store and the people there. After we looked at several hundred stools, Stella helped us choose two that will complement our kitchen colors and décor. Then she helped us pick fabric with which to reupholster them. Then we toured the store, which is huge and filled with lovely, well-made furniture for almost every taste, including an amazing number of dinette and dining room sets, and beautiful pieces for every room in the house. When our stools are ready, we are going to utilize Sitting Pretty's in-home design consultation service to help us with our living room and dining room furniture. Peter is awesome to work with and can't thank him enough! We first went into Sitting Pretty 6 months ago looking for barstools and met with the famous Peter by chance. The selection on the floor was tremendous and Peter was very honest about price, quality, customization options and where we were making trade-offs for our price point. Based on that experience, a month or so later ended up ordering 2 couches and a coffee table.
