The park as you see it today was developed in the 1980s. It spans 66 acres and is leased from the Joint Base Elemendorf-Richardson by the municipality of Anchorage. It is a decent park, but pales slightly in comparison to the park that is located right next to it. It has a couple of parking areas, with ample parking. But beware, one of the parking areas near the basketball court has some huge pot holes. The park also has a 9-hole disc golf course that is pretty decent. You will find a good multi-use field here that has football uprights and can be used for a variety of activities including soccer, football, playing catch, ultimate frisbee, or flying a kite. The little league baseball field there is trashed. There is a bunch of trash in the dugout and the bleachers are busted and turned upside down. However, it could still be used in a pinch. The full basketball court is suffering from the same neglect. The court itself is in decent shape, but the rims are missing nets. You will be chasing the ball all day if you play on that court. You will find a bunch of picnic tables scattered among the park's green space and a decent partially paved/partially natural trail. There is rumored to be a community garden, but I did not see it. That may be due to me visiting in very early Spring. Now let's talk about what the park does not have. It does not have playground equipment, nor does it have a restroom facility. This park is ok and does have a few things its neighboring park does not have such as a multi-use field or disc golf. That park has some features that this one does not have like a playground area and picnic shelters. So, ultimately, they are a good compliment to each other. This park does need some attention and I will give them the benefit of the doubt that it was in the shape that it was in due to being off season.

Elderberry Park got a recent makeover!…read more I've been trying to get my kiddos here all summer, but of course, with a view like this, the playground stays full. We were recently able to sneak in, early afternoon on a partly cloudy day. Score! Also only had my youngest in tow, score! She got to enjoy everything fully --no rush. Yay! There are benches, a more common swing set, another swing that is the highlight of this playground, a cool slide, climbing structure, pull-up climber and I believe a porta-potty, also. Highly recommend!

There are a couple picnic tables, and most of the park is on a mini-hill. Would be a great spot if you lived in the neighborhood. If you don't, well, there are definitely better spots. Anchorage has so many great parks it can be hard for some of the tinier ones to compete!

It is unique in the way that the largest structure is a neat treehouse with attached slides. There is a large saucer swing, large surrounding grassy areas, and lots of places to sit. Highly recommend this playground when you're in the area.

It's almost an entire city block, but there's not much there. It's got some aging toddler playground stuff, but nothing for older kids. There's a picnic pavilion with 4 tables (perpetual birthday parties here) but no grills or anything. There's tons of large trees, so the mosquitos are off the chain. The park is carved into little zones by all the trees that create private little nooks, so sight lines can be a problem for paranoid parents. It's a very attractive park, but frankly, not very functional. It's also worth noting it is NOT attached to the trail system.

There's swings for kids of all ages, including a really great swing that would be really excellent for kids (even big kids) With disabilities. And the two person purple T-Rex is bomb. Definitely one of the best parks in Anchorage. To my mind it's only second to Westchester.

My pup and I passed this park and were a little surprised it's actually a park given it's size and that it appeared to have little planning involved in sectioning it out. This park has very little surface area to play on, has a pond and creeks around it, and a few amenities. I'm not sure what it looks like in the summer, but in the winter there appears to have a loop one can do that crosses a street, and an offshoot that open up to an area with a hill. It's set among townhouses, suburbs, businesses, and schools and offers a small space for dogs and people to play. I liked the couple of benches and poop bag dispensers in this area. Small respite area in a sea of industrial businesses and small family housing.
