Sitar is amazing! We came here as a group of 3 for lunch. They have a great lunch deal which they say is served in "lunch portions" but I thought was still a good amount of food. For all their food, they ask for a spice level (I believe the options are mild, medium, and spicy). We started off with the Achari Gobi which we got as medium (I believe) and it was quite spicy! We all loved it. Each of us got a curry - Saag, tikka masala, and vindaloo. They were all great and the spice levels we requested (one mild and 2 spicy) were all very appropriate and delicious. Their naan was also delicious. Perfect mix of crispy edge and soft inside. I can't wait to go back again for lunch!

We've driven past Sitar for years and finally decided it was time to check them out! I don't know what the restaurant looked like previously inside, but I know they just renovated and it's really nice! We were adventurous and tried goat for the first time, and we thought it was delicious! The malai chicken kebab was flavorful and not dry at all. Friendly and attentive staff. Would definitely come back here!

One of my go-to Indian restaurants in New Haven! The first thing they gave us when we sat down were a few flavorful crackers with sauces as a snack and it was already off to a great start. We got my go-to orders of Bhindi Masala (a staple Indian dish made with okra, whole and ground spices, herbs, onions & tomatoes) and Saag Paneer (a popular Indian vegetarian dish made of spinach and other leafy greens (called saag) and paneer (Indian cottage cheese)) and we were very satisfied. It all came with a large side of rice. It didn't look like a lot when the food arrived, but it turned out to be a lot more than we expected. I think both dishes could have used some more spices + flavor which is why I give this place 4/5 stars, but it was still great. The two of us shared both and we even had a decent amount of leftovers to take home and enjoy later! Because of that, I found it was reasonably priced. The interior was home-y and next door, there was a even a family party going on (looked like a birthday celebration?) Would definitely come again in the future. (This place also has a lot of allergy-free options which is perfect for my other friend who is allergic to a lot, including sesame.)

This was our first time eating at the restaurant and got the lunch special. We got some vegetable samosas that we sweet & savory. My wife got the lamb vindaloo, basmati with garlic naan. She enjoyed. I got the chicken tiki masala, basmati rice and garlic naan. The chicken was tender and the sauce was good.

Amazing people who work here, I really wanted butter chicken/makhni and despite it not being on the menu I ordered from they made it for me 10/10 taste and people the food was sooo good

I have a friend that has an allergy to Canola oil and it led us to this gem of a place. Parking, like most places in New Haven, kinda stinks buuuuut there are several garages right near by. The food was great, best garlic naan I have had, the baingan bharta was extremely good as well. Staff was exceptionally friendly. 100% plan on going back!

Stopped in for lunch. The chicken korma and naan bread was fantastic. The lunch portion was good and so was the price. The service was speedy too. The restaurant was clean and relaxing. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area.

4.5 stars. Came here after touring Yale with my family and it was definitely worth it. We ordered off the lunch special menu, you can pick a sauce, a protein, and a bread (Naan, Garlic Naan, Tandoori Roti). For me, I chose the saag with paneer and garlic naan. The saag paneer was super flavorful and eating it with the garlic naan was so good. The lunch special also comes with rice and the quantity of rice you get was plenty. The vegetable samosas were also really good. Perfectly crispy on the outside, and inside is nice and fluffy and very well seasoned. They also come with three sauces, and I really enjoyed the tamarind sauce. However I do feel that the samosas were a bit expensive, $6 for 2, but the lunch special was around $13 which I think was really good value for the quality and quantity of food you get. The service was also really good; the waitress consistently checked up on us and even switched out our plates after we finished the samosas. I really appreciate how attentive our server was. Overall I would highly recommend giving this place a shot if you are ever around the area.

Good Indian buffet with ok service... We were roaming in Yale University and looking for an Indian restaurant. we saw this and had their buffet. They had a good option in appetizer and main course as well. We had salad-soup-chicken appetizers and curry. But seems staffs were not interested in the buffet. We kept asking for bread and we got it so late. Ignoring that, it was good buffet

We had a great time celebrating our birthday there. Staff were warm and patient. We will definitely return.

And there are pockets of the space with super bright lights. And bathrooms by the entrance is weird. (Plus, there's a bigger bathroom in the basement.) That being said, the wood floors are good for dancing, and the sound system is pretty good for the size of the space. It has a subtle warehouse club feel, which is great for the New Haven scene. The event itself had some issues, like pure silence before the opening act. Felt a bit amateur; at least try to transition! Also, there was a big gap between the openers and the headliner. The guy doing tickets basically shrugged. The crowd on this given night was pretty diverse and excited to hear DJ Lag, whose unique genre of electronic music kept most of us intrigued and entertained. No liquor license yet, which was a drag. Looking forward to seeing who else comes to this venue.

The New Haven Lawn Club offers five comfortable, spacious overnight guest rooms and one suite, a main dining room seating 200, and a grand ballroom seating 300 that was being used for a wedding reception the night we stayed there. A unique feature of the club is art exhibits hung in the rotunda outside the Grill Room. Rebuilt in 1931 after a fire destroyed the original two years earlier, the clubhouse was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2003. We were welcomed with freshly baked bread and a warm gougère, which reminded me of Brazilian pão de queijo. For drinks, I enjoyed the French 75 along with the non-alcoholic Pamplemousse, while my niece ordered the non-alcoholic Guadalupe. To start, we each had the French onion soup, which was rich, flavorful, and comforting. We also shared the foie gras torchon, which my niece described as incredibly smooth and creamy. For our entrées, we ordered the filet of beef and the rack of lamb. Both were cooked to perfection, and I appreciated that neither dish was overwhelmed with gravy or sauce, allowing the quality of the meat to shine. For dessert, we shared the mixed berry soufflé and the Feuillantine. The Feuillantine was my favorite--it was wonderfully rich, chocolatey, and creamy. Pairing bites of the light, fruity soufflé with the decadent chocolate dessert turned out to be a delicious combination. To end the meal, the restaurant surprised us with complimentary pistachio macarons, which was a thoughtful finishing touch. The restaurant has an elegant atmosphere that feels refined without being stuffy. Combined with the outstanding food and exceptional service, it made for a memorable celebration, and I'd happily return.
